Puppy Love

I think that as parents we all strive to make our kids look up to us. I remember back in my military days my focus was on making my parents proud. I would advise younger troops, “Everything you do, do it to give your parents bragging rights!” You know how parents are , ” My son/daughter is this and their doing this. What’s your kid doing?” Now, I find myself doing things to give my kids bragging rights, “Look what my Daddy can do!”

I went to my daughter, Cassandra’s, parent teacher confrence a couple of weeks ago, her teacher had great remarks about her. What touched me about our conversation is how the teacher expressed of my daughter’s feelings about me. She apologized to my wife and told her that the only thing that comes out of Cassy’s mouth is, “My daddy this, my daddy that.” To hear it from your children is one thing but to hear that they are telling the world about it is something else. I got the chills, to me there is no warmer feeling than to know that your son/daughter loves you and admires what you do.

I had some free time the other day so I decided to work with Cassy. I brought out a pit bull puppy named “Roxy.” I asked her to help me stimulate the puppy’s prey drive. I could have said, “play tug of war” or “pull a towel out for Roxy” but I wanted to see how much she pays attention to what I do. She even started teaching her to go through her legs. I was amazed, this girl is truly a shining star in daddy’s heart. She always tells me that she wants to be the best Sit Means Sit dog trainer! Sit Means Sit Los Angeles Dog Training is very fortunate to have her. I love you, Cassandra!
