Dog Training Demo for the schoolkids

Chris, Darin, Zeke, Nix, Lilly, Bauer, and my personal favorite "Just Jack",

Thank you so much for taking the time to come to our facility with your dogs.  Under normal circumstances the children that are in our care would never have had the chance to experience such a demonstration.  We are a residential facility for kids in crisis, many of the children will live in our care for up to a year and most of the children in our care have been "in the system" for quite sometime.  This experience was positive from so many aspects.  Being able to touch, hug and pet your dogs brightened their day.  Showing them that dogs have so many different roles in society, not just drug or police related was such an education.  You opened their eyes and their hearts. For many days afterwards the children in our care talked about how high Lilly jumped, how Bauer was much like them when they can not pay attention and need a redirection and how happy they felt when they pet Jack.  Who knows maybe we will have a dog trainer in our mix? Your ease with our children and the natural instinct your dogs showed was so healing.  Especially in long-term care facilities, it seems everyone is entertained by animal visits in some way and you did just that!!!  As so often happens in this line of work children express the sadness over having left a pet at home after being placed in care, the grief over a lost pet or the desire to one day own a pet.  Your day spent with us filled some of that void.

I can not thank you enough for your time spent with us and for your dedication to your profession. You are both so much more than "dog trainers".

From the bottom of our hearts,

Here’s a chance for children to get up close and personal with their favorite big rig! A fire truck, police car, construction vehicles and many other vehicles will be on display for children to look at, explore, and possibly climb on and sit inside the trucks they see every day on the roads. This is an activity that both boys and girls love and is sure to be enjoyed by dads and moms alike. Be on hand to answer the kids’ questions. Both kids and parents will be able to meet the personnel who protect, serve and work in our community and learn about functions and features of these vehicles.
As an added bonus to our movie-goers, our Movie in the Park will include Touch-A-Truck. This event will be held at the Villa Rica Civic Center & Sports Complex from 7:00 pm – 10:30 pm.

Kids and Dogs!

Filed under: PHOTOS — darinshepherd @ 8:57 pm
Without a doubt, my daughter is the highlight of my day.
It brings great joy to me to see that
she shares my passion for dogs.
I am very fortunate that my job, my hobby,
and my life all involve my dogs.
Whether working or playing, I try to involve Ava in every aspect
of what I do with them.  She helps with training, grooming, feeding
and even scooping the yard :)
She is learning from a very early age how to interact with dogs, how to play with dogs,
how to respect and maintain safety around dogs.
I remember taking my dog to my first show and tell at school when I was only 4 years old
and I look forward to helping Ava do the same.

Client Testimonial from Paige McKelvey

When we first got Grayce, (a shepherd mix), all was great the first 2 weeks, then she decided no one could come to the house or walk on the street.  We contacted one trainer who was unsuccessful with the training. Then we called "Sit Means Sit" and Darin came to the house.  Grayce tried unsuccessfully to attack him.  After 3 at home session and group work with Darin and Chris, we now have a loving and obedient member of our family.  Without you, we would not have been able to give her a home and we would have missed out on a wonderful companion.
People who knew her in the beginning cannot believe this is the same dog. Words cannot express our gratitude for giving us this loving dog to share our life!!

Whole Food Supplement for Dogs!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — darinshepherd @ 2:02 pm

Got Health?  I’ve been using this supplement with my dogs’ food….  I’ve always fed my dogs a very good quality food.  Being well aware of how nutrition affects their health, I’m constantly on the lookout for a way to improve what I feed my dogs.  With the constant changes in the pet food market and the recent dangers with some foods, it can be difficult finding one food that does the trick.  While I still feed a good quality food, I have been adding this supplement for several months now and am pleased with the results.  I make sure that my daughter, my wife, and I take good vitamins and food supplments, why not my dogs?

–Darin Shepherd

"Dog and Cat owners rejoice!  The general nutrition supplement for your favorite pets is here: Juice Plus+® for Dogs and Juice Plus+® for cats.  The famous Juice Plus+® concept of "whole food nutrition" has now been adapted to the specific needs of our precious pets!

Juice Plus+® …for Pets?

Juice Plus+® for Dogs and Juice Plus+® for Cats are concentrated whole food powders that you sprinkle onto your pet’s regular food.  They help to "unlock" the full nutritional value of your pet’s food, and also provide concentrated, natural nutrients not present in most commercial pet food products.

Do dogs and cats really need a nutritional supplement?

Like most of us, our pets eat highly processed, overcooked food.  This processing and cooking damages the nutritional value of the food.  Essential nutrients are often either missing entirely or difficult to absorb.

The results are obvious.  Our pets face many of the same health issues we do (like chronic degenerative diseases and allergies) largely because of their poor diet.  Foods like Juice+® for Dogs and Juice Plus+® for Cats are less processed, and include "active" ingredients like enzymes and friendly micro-organisms that help to correct these nutritional deficiencies.

When our pets eat the quality foods they need, their systems tend to function better and they become healthier and more energetic.

How does it work?

Both Juice+® for Dogs and Juice Plus+® for Cats contain concentrated, highly nutritious whole food powders that are processed at low temperatures.  This food is closer to its natural state, therefore easier for your pets to absorb.

It also contains a wide variety of essential vitamins, minerals and fatty acids which your pet needs…   and scores of micro-nutrients that exist in nature and make whole food the best source of nutrition.

Juice+® for Dogs and Juice Plus+® for Cats contain a proprietary blend of active enzymes.  These enzymes help your pet digest and assimilate all the food they eat – proteins, fats, starches and fibers.  Better digestion and absorption result in fuller utilization of nutrients and better elimination…  and help your pet’s overall digestive system become more efficient.

Finally, Juice+® for Dogs and Juice Plus+® for Cats contain friendly micro-organisms to further aid your pet’s gastrointestinal system.  These micro-organisms are naturally found throughout the digestive tract of healthy animals and help keep the tract free from unfriendly bacteria.

What results can I expect for my pet?

Our goal is simply to help your dog or cat live healthier, more energetic lives through better nutrition.  Specific results will vary.

However, the ingredients we’ve included in Juice+® for Dogs and Juice Plus+® for Cats not only provide a rich blend of vitamin, minerals and essential fatty acids, but may also help your pet defend itself against common pest, such as fleas (brewers’ yeast and garlic), worms (garlic), and odors (alfalfa). Flaxseed and safflower are included to help promote healthy skin and coat."
