Here is a nice note sent to us from Jillian Cline, who recently attended our seminar in Carson City Nevada. Jillian also authored a book on Pitbulls, so has certainly seen some difficult dogs in her day, and has done a lot to help people with dogs that have some problems. This note was actually written about a beagle that she brought to the seminar that belongs to a 77 year old woman that obviously has trouble controlling the dog.

Dear Fred and Carla,
I just wanted to give you a brief update on the two dogs I brought to the
“Sit Means Sit” Seminar Oct 5th - 8th. I was the gal who brought my
neighbor’s Beagle (Pogo 8 months). I can not thank you enough for the extra
time and effort you gave us. When we arrived for the demo Friday night Pogo
was insecure, stubborn, spoiled and fearful. I have to say I’m surprised and
thrilled with his progress (as is his 77 year old owner).

As a basic obedience instructor my normal method has been “lure training”
with treats and/or toys, neither of these methods seemed to work with the
Beagle Pogo. We did have some success with the Halti but far too often Pogo
would run and hides when he saw the Halti. (His 77 year old owner was unable
to catch him). Once the Halti was securely on him he throw a fit screeching,
flipping around, refusing to get up off the ground so taking him on a simple
walk was nearly impossible for his owner. The less exercise he got the more
impossible he became. Nothing seemed to work until we attended the e-collar
seminar.

On Friday night Pogo was his normal obnoxious self, refusing to do the
simplest of commands. But once at the seminar we saw huge improvements with
Pogo attitude and confidence. Pogo’s tail which was normally tucked between
his legs actually began to wag as he started to understand what was expected
of him. On Sunday all eyes were on the Beagle as he moved happily through
the maze of platforms obeying the sit, down and come commands. The
transformation was amazing and he seems 100% happier.

Today’s obedience lesson went wonderful, instead of me having to go to next
door and catch Pogo, to my surprise his owner walked him over to my home.
Her smile said it all, “Pogo wanted to go on a walk” she grinned. She had
successfully walked him to my house without a Halti or e-collar.

He waited at the door before entering without a fight (a first). I put the
e-collar on him and we moved through his basic obedience commands with ease.
He seemed to enjoy the class and seeing his tail held high made me know that
Pogo is on his way to becoming a stable happy companion dog. I am no longer
afraid that Pogo will have to be re-homed or end up at the dog pound. With
your help a closer bond is being built between owner and dog.

Pogo of course wasn’t the only success story for the weekend. The two wolf
dogs made huge improvements. It’s amazing how the e-collar instills
confidence in even the most fearful of dogs. I look forward to attend
another seminar with “Sit Means Sit” This training method may indeed save
the lives of many tough to control dogs.

Thank you again for your time and effort.

Sincerely, Jillian Cline
