Testimonials

DJ was an incredible trainer with our puppy, Rosie. We have truly been amazed at her change over the past few months and we are so grateful for her new skills her ability to listen and follow commands. All of our family and neighbors have commented on the noticeable change. DJ was kind, knowledgeable, patient, and great at explaining how to work on the skills at home. We absolutely recommend DJ and Sit Means Sit to anyone looking for help with their dog’s behavior!

I strongly recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone looking to better their lives with their dog(s). Our 7 year old English Cream Retriever, Bella, is even more amazing with the excellent training Tessa, DJ, and Jimmy provided. It’s only been a week since Bella’s graduated and with every walk I’m amazed with her obedient behavior. Bella is no longer interested in the neighborhood rabbits and squirrels. The staff at Sit Means Sit, Tessa, DJ, and Jimmy, are extremely kind and very knowledgeable regarding canine behavior. We’re completely satisfied in every aspect of our experience with Sit Means Sit.

Sit Means Sit was the best call we ever made. Our dog has a very high free will and is strong headed, so he would not mind, nearly ever. Sit Means Sit trainer, Tessa, trained him into the perfect boi that he is today along with additional tricks and commands that he picked up on very quickly. If you’re at all thinking of training for your dog, this is the place to go, I highly recommend Tessa for any dog training needs 🙂

I brought my dog here about a month and a half ago and the difference that this training has made in him is amazing. Today, he graduated. My dog, Smitty, is 3.5 years old and has extreme anxiety, very nervous around people (that started to come out as aggression) and didn’t have the best manners in general. Leash pulling, not listening, barking, etc. DJ has been working with smitty and training with him, and has made a world of a difference for us. Even after his first class, we could see a positive change in Smitty. I cannot recommend this place and DJ enough. Thank you for everything, DJ!

I recently adopted a 6 year old pitbull. He didn’t have much confidence or structure sense he was in between homes and shelters most of his life. I decided to take a chance on this company after seeing videos on tik tok. I was able to set up an appointment with Donovan ( who I highly recommend) he talked to me about some things and did a little training. In the first 40 mins I could already see Chevy improving and his confidence slowly building. We did about 5 sessions, going a little slower with his past. Only after 3 sessions I was able to take him to the dog park unleashed, feeling confident that he will come when I say (when I got him he didn’t have a recall) after 2 more sessions his confidence has been at an all time high, and he is excited to go outside and work on his training! I am greatly appreciative to Donovan and everything he has done for us. Chevy is able to have a new life and I have learned some amazing new skills I am able to take forward. Thank you again!!

Tessa and crew were able to take my stubborn dog and turn him into our dream dog in just 3 day sessions. They are caring, hard working, and their techniques are super successful. My skeptical husband is also singing their praises!

Couldn’t write a higher review! I’m a first time dog owner and Tessa and her team did an amazing job. They surpassed my highest expectations. All of my concerns are gone with only three classes.

10/10 recommend Sit Means Sit! Our labsky rescue, Aura, struggles with anxiety, reactivity, and lacked training/socialization. We were paired with Tessa and she recommended the first flight package for Aura. Within three sessions, she is doing great with place, come, sit, and heel. She also has more confidence and is able to pass other dogs calmly on trails. She still has some more work to do but thanks to Tessa and DJ, we have all of the tools for success. Thank you to the team at Sit Means Sit! 🙂

We brought in our 6yr old dog to help with retraining before an overseas move. Tessa was great with Raina and we have seen so much improvement in her behavior and her ability to follow directions. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit.

My dog, Honey, recently graduated from sit means sit. I can’t praise these trainers enough! I recently had a baby and we were having trouble on walks, honey liked to paw us, and overall she just didn’t feel like listening. Now we get to go for family walks every night without the fear of her pulling us in the street! Honey listens and she is much gentler with the baby. 12/10 Recommend using their services!!

My girl Rayla has just graduated from Sit means sit training. Working with Donovan has been an amazing experience! He showed us the missing pieces in her training and how to successfully get her to trust us. We are blown away by her progress in such a short time. Highly highly recommended!!

We’ve had an absolutely amazing experience with this training facility. Donovan and Jimmy are very knowledgeable, kind, and patient trainers who worked so incredibly well training our dogs as well as training us! Our 10 year old dog has learned to break lifelong bad habits and our lives have been so much easier since dog training started. It is honestly close to a miracle that we can get our timid, shy dog to get comfortable around walking, following our lead, etc. I can’t thank them enough and I can’t recommend them enough for anyone looking for dog training. It was worth every penny!! You will not regret choosing this facility.

Kiera’s Story:

Before Training with Sit Means Sit: Kiera was a rescue dog we took in when she was only 10 weeks old. Right when she turned 9 months, she began fighting with and injuring our first dog, a 30 lb beagle named Hollie. Kiera, weighing in at 55+ lbs, would turn on Hollie at a moment’s notice, turning our household upside down.

My husband and I had to carefully monitor both dogs to make sure that they were securely separated at all times. It was a horrible time to deal with, as we wanted them to be friends and be good company for each other. It got so bad that my husband ended up getting injured while trying to separate one of the many dogfights when Kiera broke out of her secure area. We began looking at different shelters and organizations who would be willing to take her in, for fear that she would seriously hurt or kill Hollie.

That’s when I found ‘Sit Means Sit’. From the very first visit to our house, Luke was so reassuring and had full confidence in his system. He assured me that, if we stuck with his program, Kiera would become a well behaved pet and would be controllable. I was so skeptical, but we were out of options and decided to give it a try. After Training with Sit Means Sit: We saw changes in Kiera from the very first lesson. She finally began to take us seriously as her owners, and realized that we meant business.

After our individual classes had been completed, we had a perfectly well behaved, sweet natured dog who finally had a way to control her endless energy. Now, the two dogs play together on a daily basis and we have not had one single incident since ‘Sit Means Sit’ entered our lives. We can take her to the dog park or out on a trail anytime we want to, and know without a bit of doubt that she will always come when called, leave it when we ask her to, and obey us 100%. It is the greatest feeling in the world, and has enabled our family to come together more than I thought would be possible. If your dog has an issue, they can solve it and I am so grateful to Sit Means Sit for that.

Breed: Leonberger

This is Andy Bear, a two year old Leonberger. Andy is an extremely high energy dog with a dominant personality. He has always been a handful and for that reason I had him in every class that I could find including agility and rally obedience. I live on the entrance to open space and people go past my house continually. When Andy was about 18 months old he started to become more and more possessive of me and his property. I was very fearful that he might hurt someone and stepped up his training. Unfortunately, he got a tumor on his tail. This resulted in a delay of training. Andy had to be muzzled at the Vet and his guarding became more threatening. I was told to put him down!

I just couldn’t do it and remember working with Dan to certify Murphy in Therapy Dog. Dan came over to my house and worked with Andy where he had his problems, out back and on the bike trails. After 3 private sessions I was allowed to bring Andy to group lessons which are really fun and gave me the confidence to keep working with Andy. I am looking forward to May when I once again can start training Andy for water rescue work! Thank you Dan, you truly saved Andy’s life.

My dog is a 2/12 year old Labrador named Hudson. I’ve had him since he was a puppy and as he matured it became more difficult to predict how he would behave in different situations especially while on leashed walks. Over time he started barking and even lunging at other dogs, making it less and less enjoyable and more of a task. I stopped taking him to places, such as, Washington Park, previously one of our favorite places to relax, knowing that I would be returning home very stressed and with a sore arm from holding the leash so tightly.

After seeing the Sit Means Sit truck in my apartment complex and noticing the results on one of my neighbor’s dogs, I decided to give them a try. Since the first training session working Sit Means Sit in my home, I felt a breath of fresh air and confidence, which has progressed over the last couple of months! It has been fun watching Hudson master basic commands with ease and even learn a few tricks in the meantime. I didn’t expect it to seem so fun for my dog and now he constantly looks up to me for direction.

Not only have I seen a change in him but I have also seen a change in how I interact with him…instead of correcting problem behaviors I have found myself being more proactive showing him something else to do instead. A few weeks ago, after more than a year, I had the courage to return to Washington Park with Hudson. There were many dogs, geese, running children, skateboards, and plenty of other distractions however we were actually able to have a great time and a “normal” walk around the park; something I thought would never again be possible. Sit Means Sit certainly provided me with great insight, direction, and tools to improve the quality of life of both my dog and myself!

Sit Means Sit has a special gift when it comes to creating a life-long bond between a Dog and its Pet Parents. Our family wanted so much to get inside Sami’s head so we could understand what she was feeling, thinking and what she could not tell us. Sami is our 4 yr old King Charles Spaniel. Every dog has its own story to share and Sami’s is special…she lost her hearing over this past year. So, how best to keep Sami safe and communicate with her when she has no idea that she is being told to do (or not to do) something to please those who love her? Enter Sit Means Sit .

First thing first-we reached out to Sit Means Sit for help with what we believed to be an impossible task. Under creative direction, we developed a series of hand signals that would allow us to talk to Sami. Within a few short weeks, we were communicating with Sami using our newly created doggie sign language. We followed our trainers directions exactly as he laid them out. Why wouldn’t we, considering the financial commitment? Three short sessions each and every day w/o exception. He constantly reminded us …”consistency, consistency, consistency”.

The key to our success was our consistent use of the Sit Means Sit collar. We never ever took Sami out w/o applying the Sit Means Sit methods. Again, thanks Sit Means Sit for constantly reminding us of the critical importance of the link between actual command and timing of obedience.

Sami has sooo much freedom off leash now; she can safely explore her world under the protection of the Sit Means Sit system. She totally ignores other dogs, rabbits that jump out if front of us, and the toxic goose droppings she used to go crazy for. Thank you  Sit Means Sit for doing what you do and for sharing you special talents with Pet Parents who care about their pets as much as we care about Sami!

Before our 10 month old Puggle, Addie, began training with Sit Means Sit she:

  • Chewed daily on the same items around the house even thouI said “”no”” 500 times!
  • Considered commands to be “”Suggestions””
  • Would run away from us when we wanted to put her on her leash or in her kennel
  • Would beg and bug us while we were eating
  • Jumped all over people entering our house

Now after 3 private lessons Addie:

  • Comes on command… every time, even when other dogs are around
  • Stays on her “”place”” through meals and when people enter our home
  • Sits on command (we don’t chase here around anymore).
  • Stopped chewing on her favorite household items

Thank-you so much!

Sit Means Sit saved my dog’s life.

$2000 in damages to my home, scaling my 6 foot fence when it wasn’t even installed for 24 hours, court, dragging me down the street and finally biting someone.

I worked with 4 trainers that weren’t even close to helping my boy before Sit Means Sit dog training. I wish I would have just started with them after a lot of wasted time and money on other trainers.

Great people to work with. I owe them my life!

Wow! Janice and I can not believe the difference Sit Means Sit has made in the obedient behavior of our dogs. It is truly UNBELIEVABLE! As you know, both our dogs are high energy Jack Russells. The moment you would open the door, WHOOSH, they were gone! Getting them back was always a pain in the neck.

Now, it’s amazing. We say “come” and they turn right around and come to me!! They stay in the yard and are simply much more enjoyable to be around.

You were well worth the money. Please feel free to use me as a positive endorsement of your services. Thank-you for your help. I wish you the best in your business.

Sincerely,

Josh H.

I adopted Abby from animal control. She was 6 and given up by previous owners. She was sweet as she could be for a week. Then she started separation anxiety, whining, barking, possessive even over people and toys and almost attacked my mom. I was so close to taking her back to animal control, but she got worse. She un-potty trained herself, and became aggressive when she got under the bed or had a toy. I hired a dog behavioralist and that didn’t work.

I was at my wits end until I found Sit Means Sit. Luke has gotten my dog to obey and respect me as her owner. She does things on command, stopped using the bathroom in the house as a weapon, and has gotten better with separation anxiety. I can now enjoy my dog instead of walking on egg shells 24/7 waiting for her to do something wrong. If it wasn’t for this training, Abby would be at a rescue center or back at Animal Control.

Thanks Luke and Sit Means Sit!

Kendall

Before training we had:

  • Severe aggression toward other dog/ animals and each other.
  • Killed a small dog and several chickens.
  • Aggression toward strangers, started to have aggression toward our friends. They were unable and unpredictable, monstrous around food, Sadie attacked and bit Luke on the first night of training.

After Sit Means Sit:

  • Come when called sit and stay when asked
  • Place for 30 minuets,
  • Leave food alone,
  • Stop when told “”off””
  • No aggression with dogs, animals or humans, but bark if someone is at our fence.
  • Stay within our yard and leave the chickens alone even inside their pen!
  • We can take them anywhere. They are the best pets we could ever have.”
