Owner/Lead Trainer – Jennifer Frese
I found Sit Means Sit Dog Training when I was living in Las Vegas, Nevada and was looking for a dog trainer. I had seen the Sit Means Sit vehicles driving around town but I wasn’t so sure they were the training company for me. I had a fluffy little puppy and Sit Means Sit looked like a place for people with big dogs. I had already met with a few local trainers and I just wasn’t impressed with them. I finally decided to give Sit Means Sit a call after a friend recommended them. I scheduled an appointment with Sit Means Sit and a trainer named Alfredo Rivera came out to my home and did a FREE demonstration with one of his dogs. I was amazed at how obedient and attentive his dog was, even at a distance. The best part was how happy his dog was during the whole demonstration. For Alfredo’s dog, it was all about having fun with his dad.
I knew that was what I wanted to have with my dog. I wanted to have fun. My little puppy had a bad habit of biting my hands and feet. Also, she was a fast little thing and it was nearly impossible to catch her. If I managed to catch her and hook a leash on her, I was in for more trouble because she refused to walk and would scream and flail around if I even reached for the other end of the leash. I knew that having a dog was supposed to be fun but her behaviors were already taking all of the fun out of it, and she was only 12 weeks old. I wanted to bring the fun back and gain some control over the situation. I knew that if I didn’t do something soon, things were only going to get worse. We signed up for training the very next day and within 3 weeks of beginning training, my puppy had not only stopped biting my hands and feet, but had learned to sit on command – even at a distance, and come when I called her. By the time she was 16 weeks old and had completed her puppy shots, I took her for her first outdoor walk without a problem. A few weeks later, I had her walking off-leash.
I was a school teacher at that time and I knew that a curriculum can look great with its glossy pages, color pictures, and shiny student textbooks. I also knew that the real proof of a good curriculum is how easily it is implemented by the teacher and how successfully the students can learn the material that is presented to them. Sit Means Sit looked great at the demonstration and once the trainers showed me how to do it, I had tremendous success replicating their amazing results. It became easy to gain my puppy’s attention and to show her what I wanted from her. Training my little dog with Sit Means Sit not only helped me gain control and communicate with my dog, it also brought back the fun of having a dog. I could see the same thing happening for all of the other clients in the group classes. I would see others come to class with an out-of-control dog and after a few weeks, the dog had changed into a focused, happy, and obedient dog. It was such a pleasure to see how people were able to effectively communicate with their dogs and improve the quality of their relationships with their four-legged family members.
Because of Sit Means Sit I have an exceptional relationship with my dog. I can take her anywhere with me. She has the freedom to enjoy the world and I have the control that I need to keep her safe. A rewarding and enriching relationship with a dog is something that everyone should be able to experience. After training my dog with Sit Means Sit it was easy to see that the program is really something special and something that I want to bring to others. I want to be part of improving the quality of life for dogs and their owners. After 10 years of being a public school teacher, I followed the joy in my life and made a big decision. I took the leap and left teaching to follow my passion of helping others to improve their quality of life with their dogs. Today, I’m helping others to gain control, bring back the fun, and help their dogs reach their full potential with Sit Means Sit
