Dogs Name: Dixie
City: Corpus Christi
Zip: 78414
Arrival Story: Dixie came to us from Gulf Coast Humane Society. We had been nearly three years without a dog having lost our beloved shepherd mix, Lucy, in 2011 to kidney failure and were finally ready to welcome another dog into our hearts and home. Welcoming (well not really but tolerating) Dixie into the family are her four feline siblings Zoe, CJ, Jackson, and Lil’ Man.

Likes: early morning walks with mom / playing in the backyard with dad
Pet Peeves: vacuum cleaner/ seedeater / recycle truck
Favorite Toy: Tennis ball on a rope.
Favorite Treat: Beggin Strips / cheese
Favorite Walk: anywhere with mom
Best Tricks: Sit ( actually that’s her only trick)

Doggie Bio: Dixie has been a wonderful addition to our family. As with most shelter dogs she was a bit insecure and shy at first but as she learns to trust this really is her forever home more of her personality appears. She is sweet natured and affectionate and loves to snuggle up with mom at nap time and give lots of doggie kisses. She is also very playful and energetic and will run in the backyard for hours it seems. Having a professional trainer work with her has been a great experience for her and us. We have found setting clear expectations and boundaries for her behavior has allowed us to relax and simply enjoy spending time with her rather than having to scold her or wonder if she is getting into mischief.
