London Dog Obedience Training – Testimonial

PhotobucketDenver had issues with being around other dogs as he grew out of puppyhood.  He became aggressive towards dogs, mostly on leash.  He would lunge, growl and bark deeply at any dog that we came across.  We became nervous just going for a short walk around the block and would always be on guard if there was a dog near.  We slowly stopped going for visits to pet stores, beach trips, dog parks and any other area we knew dogs would be.  We would actually cross the road if we saw another dog coming our way.  We finally decided to give Brent at Sit Means Sit a call and he came over for a free demo.  We couldn’t believe how well behaved his dogs were! While he was here he showed us the e-collar that Sit Means Sit uses and he tested it out on Denver.  It amazed us that just after a few minutes of walking up and down the sidewalk Brent was able to have Denver walking right by his side and paying full attention to him.  We signed up and could not be happier with the results.  We were very impressed by Brent’s knowledge of dog training and his training techniques.  We loved how the package came with one on one lessons so we were not in a big group right away so we had lots of instruction.  We are now able to have control of Denver’s attention when any distraction comes along…including dogs! By focusing his attention on us he is able to ignore other dogs and we have no more barking, lunging and growling at others. We are now taking him all the places we want too and have no fear of another dog coming along…we actually go looking for other dogs!  We are so much more relaxed, he is visibly happier and we are enjoying all the activities we can do with him.  We feel like we have gained back all control! We never thought we would have such a obedient dog and are looking forward to having him meet his full potential! We wish we joined sooner.

Thanks Brent!

I saw the Sit Means Sit van in the  park one day while I was walking my 2 dogs and never really thought about it again until a month later when I let Lily loose in the park to run (she loves to run hard) and she would not come when called I really knew I needed help!

Lily is 55 pounds and my 4th “Baby” and the only thing she really did well was sit and go to her bed but to get her to lay down on command was not an option.  Walking was a whole other story and coming when called was a waste of time.

We did attend group lessons twice which ended with me being very frustrated and upset.   Lily is very skittish and is very fearful of noises and sometimes her response to other dogs was to start a fight so we never did finish the second set of classes.  It is really embarrassing to have everyone in class avoid you because your dog might pick a fight.  We did manage to walk with a haltie but she hated it and I really wanted to let her run free as long as she would come when called.

Then I remembered the Sit Means Sit van and Googled it.  I was very apprehensive about the notion of using an electronic collar on Lily and spent a lot of time looking at other methods and finally called Brent for a very long phone conversation and then agreed to meet.  He arrived with Roscoe and had Roscoe “place” on the telephone/cable box at the end of my driveway, well I was impressed.  And I was even more impressed when Brent had Lily heeling with him in less than 5 minutes.  So I was hooked and I loved the private lessons because it was all about me & Lily and the specific problems we had.  So Lily can now “place” on her new blue “place” mat and she loves sitting/placing on picnic tables and benches and she now comes when called.  We can both be free in the park and go on very long walks thanks to “Sit Means Sit” and Brent. We are looking forward to our first group outing and meeting other dogs.

Nixie, my 10 month old German Shepherd was very quick to pick up basic commands. She picked up sit and ‘kennel’ all on her own, without any training. Her recall without any distractions was perfect; however when distractions were present there was no stopping her. Nixie’s main problem was barking excessively at other dogs as they past us on a walk or in the car. Sometimes I could barely hold her back. I quickly realized I needed a professional trainer to come and assess Nixie to see what could be done, because nothing I tried worked. Brent came out and did a demonstration with Nixie, and within the first 10 minutes there was a huge improvement in her attitude. I was not hesitant at all to have Brent continue to work with her. The first session with Brent really was about changing my perception on how the mind of a dog works and getting the remote training technique down. Nixie was very acceptable to the new method of training and seemed to enjoy the time we spent together practicing her ‘new moves’. Our last lesson with Brent, Rosco and Dash really brought all of the things we learned into practice. I was completely blown away with her ability to listen and perform what she was asked to. The dog I saw on our last day is the dog that I wanted Nixie to be.  Nixie and I will be attending our first group class soon with Brent to continue to challenge ourselves in overcoming any type of distraction.

Thank you Brent for all of your advice and wisdom!

London Ontario Dog Training – Testimonial

Sit means sit has changed my dog’s life and mine for the better. Within a few days of having Brent come for training I noticed a huge change in my dog Levi. Before the training Levi had somehow thought of himself as the pack leader and no matter what I did I could not reverse our roles, I was frustrated which in turn made Levi more defiant. There were times that he even got aggressive with me and I knew we needed help. I had tried all the techniques that many people swear by and nothing worked, he didn’t respond to anything. My friend had researched Sit means sit for her own dogs and told me there was a free consultation and I immediately looked up on the internet for more information and then gave Brent a call. I was shocked when he came for the free consult and almost immediately Levi responded to Brent. After I received the 1st training session and the collar I noticed a huge difference with Levi almost immediately. Within a few days we ran into a neighbor who never was able to get close to Levi because he was nipping at her hands and jumping up, but this time he sat right in front of her calmly (what an amazing change). Our walks are enjoyable now with Levi to the left side of me and looking up at me for guidance (which he never did before), we have even went to the park and played ball off leash, we have so much fun now!!!!!! I highly recommend this training to anyone who is looking for their dog to be well behaved.

Thanks so much for your help Brent!

I had been having a lot of issues with my 2 1/2 year lab and had already tried several other training/obedience classes with few results and a lot of frustration. My main issues were minimal recall, shredding items, pulling on walks and chasing squirrels. He almost dislocated my shoulder by dragging me through a park chasing a squirrel. Something had to be done as this behaviour was unacceptable. I saw the Sit Means Sit van at a park and decided to call to learn more about their methods. I was very apprehensive about the notion of using an electronic collar on my dog and did a substantial amount of research, which included a meeting with Brent. I was totally amazed at the results that he was able to get within minutes! I had been struggling for 2 years and he solved the pulling issue within minutes! Brent spent a lot of time answering all my questions (I had a lot!) as well as educating me on the collar and how it works. I especially liked the private lessons so I could learn how to use the collar properly and deal specifically with the issues I was having. Brent has always been available and willing to answer any additional questions I have and to help with other training needs such as entering/exiting the pool when swimming season arrived. We have seen a remarkable improvement with our dog and we truly believe all of us are much happier!

London Ontario Dog Training – Testimonial

Stella is a beautiful 5 year old Rottweiler … about 2 years ago she was the victim of an unprovoked attack by another dog … although she was physically OK, her personality changed immediately. She became very defensive with other dogs and despite support and trying various training strategies she was gradually becoming more and more aggressive …
That Stella has always been sweet and affectionate with people made it so hard to understand how she was reacting to other animals. Our daily walks became an exercise in surveillance and evasion … other outings all but eliminated. Then a chance comment to a friend introduced us to Brent and Sit-Means-Sit … our friend was so confident in his abilities and the Sit-Means-Sit program that we decided to give Brent a call and explain our situation. Brent clearly understood the challenge and came by for a demonstration. His presentation sounded great, but given everything we’d tried it was hard not to be skeptical, so when he had us take Stella outside for a live “‘meet and greet” with Rosco, one of his training dogs, we were “prepared for the worst” … things began just as expected, but imagine our reaction when within 5 minutes Brent had Stella’s behaviour toned down and for the first time she sat relatively calmly in the presence of another dog. No, it wasn’t magic … there was lots of work ahead of us … and it worked! Brent taught us how to effectively apply the Sit-Means-Sit program in every-day life and within a few days Stella was responding positively and next thing we knew we were attending the group training sessions. Our outings with her are fun and relaxed again. Our sweet girl is back! … We can’t say enough about Brent and recommend the Sit-Means-Sit program to every dog owner.

Thank you Brent!!

Client Testimonial – London Dog Training

I have always taken my dogs to obedience school so when I got my puppy Bella, I
called Brent at Sit means Sit and we started our sessions. I was amazed at how
quickly she responded and how easy it seemed to be. We enjoy our outings together, whether
on or off leash, and she listens to my commands. She is such a loving dog and I am very proud
of how many compliments I get on how well behaved she is. Thanks Brent!

London Ontario Dog Training – Testimonial

When I first began looking for a dog trainer I really didn’t know what to look for but after doing some research I decided to try Sit means sit. I have a 3 year old beagle named Tickles who is learning things faster than I ever thought possible!

The sit means sit program is easy to learn for the dog owners and easy for the dogs to understand. Our trainer, Brent, came to our house first to assess our dog and learn what issues we were having with her so that we could begin to work on them. Shortly after, we started group lessons and that was a challenge for my dog as she is not used to having other dogs around but she has become much calmer and I really believe that she enjoys it! Brent has been very patient and is very good at reminding us of what we need to do because as owners , I think we need as much guidance and repetition as the dogs do.

Probably the biggest controversy is the collar and people have asked me many times doesn’t that hurt your dog? I can tell you that no, it really doesn’t and it is never intended to be a painful or punishing experience. As Brent says, it is like a tap on the shoulder to remind your dog to pay attention to you.

I think the biggest proof really comes from my dog – as soon as I get that collar out, she comes running with her tail wagging because she knows something fun is going to happen!

London Ontario Dog Training – Testimonial

My 115lb. King Shepard, Tobie, was an absolute menace. I couldn’t take him for a walk without pulling my arm off, couldn’t open my front door without him running out and couldn’t have company over as he would jump up on them and then run all over the house in an uncontrollable excitement. Tobie was only getting bigger and stronger and I knew I had to take control of the situation before he took control over me!

I e-mailed Sit Means Sit, and was contacted right away by Brent. Within a few days Brent came to my house to assess Tobie to determine what type of training he needed in accordance to my expectations of what I wanted out of the training. Brent brought along his dog Rosco as an example of the things I could expect from the Sit Means Sit training program.

We started off with personal lessons where I learned how to deal with specific challenging situations that we were facing on a day to day basis. This training isn’t just about training your dog, it’s about training yourself how to react to situations. After just 4 personal lessons I saw a world of difference. For once I have control of Tobie in my own house and I no longer dread walking him in annoyance of all the pulling!

We are continuing with ongoing group training lessons as a way of learning how to deal with external elements that can be distracting to your dog (like the dreaded squirrels!), and learning how to socialize with other dogs. I can now let Tobie off leash at any park and know that I have control over his actions and know that by saying “Tobie Come!” it will bring him right back to my side. Tobie now sits on his pillow when ever anyone comes to the door and only greets visitors when he is invited to. Brent and Rosco have taught us many valuable lessons which we will continue to practice into the future.
