In the episode “KNOW THE TOOLS” on America Now, I introduced you to a few great tools to use in training your dog – specialized collars and leashes, including harnesses and gentle leaders. Now, I’m only able to touch the surface, there is a right and wrong way to any tool. I recommend you seek professional help to aid you in deciding what tool is right for you and your dog. When seeking advice make sure they are an expert with the tool they are advising you to use, you wouldn’t go to a foot doctor for a head ache. Unfortunately, there are no magic wands when it comes to training your dog, there will be a great deal of problem solving. As you are trying to figure out how to get control of your dog, they are trying to figure out how to control of you. Your tool is only an aid in assisting you to get or keep your dog’s attention so you can teach him how you would like for him/her to behave. It will take a good one hundred repetitions with your dog before they have mastered the task you are attempting to teach. Have fun with your pup, you’re going to make mistake’s…..it’s OK! The great thing about dogs is, THEY DON’T HOLD GRUDGES! Take a step back, see what you are doing wrong and adjust accordingly.

Luciano A. Aguilar is a ten year Veteran of the United States Air Force; this is where he began his career training dogs; he ended his career in the military working for the elite Presidential K9 Unit at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland.
After leaving the Air Force, Luciano continued working with dogs, owning and operating a successful Los Angeles based dog training business. Luciano has traveled the country instructing at dog training seminars with individuals ranging from law enforcement to civilian personnel.
Giving Luciano's expertise in bite prevention, he is regularly invited as a guest speaker for children at various schools and for letter carriers with the United States Postal Service.
Luciano’s dedication to serve others has led him to once again serve his community with his appointment to the Board of Trustees of the Hawthorne School District, a suburb of Los Angeles County. The Hawthorne School District serves over 8000 children.
Luciano has performed live to sold out audiences at Night of the Horse at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, Del Mar CA and for Fiesta of the Spanish Horse at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, Burbank CA. Aguilar has also been featured in popular TV shows like Sabado Gigante, Alarma TV, El Gordo Y La Flaca and is currently the resident Pet Pro for Raycom Media's "America Now".
