Amy holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Oakland University. Despite a successful business in the financial field, Amy decided to pursue her passion – dogs. Nick also left a successful career where he was acknowledged as the top producer for Volvo, worldwide. They were married in 2001.
Amy and Nick currently own five dogs; 3 Leonbergers, River, Willow, and Eros, a Beagle/Pitbull mix named Zip, and a high drive Shepherd/Malinois mix, Booker. Their expertise in the dog world goes far beyond training including our passion for breeding and showing dogs. They have earned a Best in Show title, and won first place in a National Obedience competition.
Their kennel, Good Life, has produced multiple show champions of the Leonberger breed. Their dogs have also taken multiple Top Ten positions in the United Kennel Club and been eligible to compete in invitation only events. Amy has attended an AKC Breeder’s Symposium and participated in breeding seminars. Amy currently is the President of the Great Lakes Leonberger Club.
Nick is an avid volunteer at local and national shows, as well as being asked to handle other people’s dogs in the show ring.
Amy attended the Sit Means Sit school in June of 2008, logging in several hundred hours of hands on experience. Amy and Nick have both attended the Main Event, a national Sit Means Sit annual conference in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
In 2010, they were recognized as one of the Top 5 Sit Means Sit franchises.
They have also attended the Sit Means Sit Regional conference in Ontario in 2009. The Metro Detroit location hosted their own regional conference in August of 2010. Their Sit Means Sit location was officially open for business in July of 2008, but their enthusiasm and experience with dogs began long before.
