How do you keep up with it all? \u00a0Well, you know if your dog is well-mannered and obedient it will make your life easier. So, let’s see how to go about it\u00a0while\u00a0you’re getting everything else done.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

First:<\/strong>\u00a0 Think things through, and pl\"friday\"<\/a>an how you can incorporate new habits into your daily routine. \u00a0Once you’re used to them, they’ll take very little of your time yet promote learning, improve manners and add to the quality of your life with your dog. Go\u00a0with the easy stuff in the beginning and gradually add more as your dog progresses in training.\u00a0Keep their SMS collars on whenever they are supervised so you can train as you live!<\/em><\/p>\n

Next:<\/strong>\u00a0 Here are a couple things to keep in mind about your dog.\u00a0 As much as our hearts refuse to believe it, this 4-legged bucket of love IS an animal and in their evolution from wolf to sofa ornament, they learned to look to us for\u00a0structure<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0consistency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Rules provide structure<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0routine provides consistency.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>These make dogs feel comfortable, wanted and cared for.<\/p>\n

  1. Affection doesn’t hurt but it’s the rules and routine that will do the most to keep your dog happy and balanced.\u00a0 Truly!<\/li>\n
  2. Consistency is key.\u00a0Therefore, a formal command must\u00a0always<\/u>\u00a0be enforced.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Do not give a command unless you are prepared and able to follow up on it.\u00a0 Stick with informal instructions, like “Get over here!” or, “Shut up!” (sorry, but we’re being realistic here).\u00a0 It often works.\u00a0 If not, finish what you’re doing, grab your remote and\u00a0then<\/em>\u00a0give the formal command, “Come!” or “Quiet!” for instance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Here you are – and remember, you can always dream up more your own, we’re just getting you started…<\/p>\n

    MEALTIME<\/strong>\u00a0– In order to avoid missing this great chance to train, don’t free-feed!\u00a0 Over-eating, weight gain, inability to monitor appetite thereby missing an opportunity to become aware of health issues, all are drawbacks that outweigh the apparent convenience of free-feeding.\u00a0 Here’s a helpful article on this:\u00a0\u00a0Article<\/a>. \u00a0Food is a great motivator so teach as you feed!<\/p>\n
