Raising a puppy is like raising a human in some ways. One of the biggest is that they teeth, their teeth fall out, and they gain new teeth.<\/p>\n
When puppies teeth fall out they typically end up swallowing them, but you may occasionally see some on the floor. There will be some bleeding, but it won’t be very noticeable unless it ends up on a toy or something the puppy chews on.<\/p>\n

Puppies begin to teeth around 3 weeks, and by 6 weeks their baby teeth will all be there. Around 12 weeks their baby teeth will begin to fall out, and by 6 months all of their permanent teeth will be there.<\/p>\n
Puppies rarely have advanced enough problems their baby teeth. Some breeds, such as smaller breeds and shorter nose breeds, can sometime retain some of their baby teeth. This can lead to problems that can cause misaligned teeth leading to a poor bite and discomfort. This can lead to future dental problems. These teeth will need to be removed in a simple procedure.<\/p>\n
Don’t reward that behavior and don’t let others. If your puppy bites on your hand, yelp a high-pitched shriek, pull your hand, and go play elsewhere. There is no best way to teach puppies about how not to chew. They are naturally energetic and curious, so try to redirect their energy.<\/p>\n
Around 18 months this behavior subsides. It will continue in some ways, depending on the dog, for the rest of their life. If it becomes excessive, consult your vet.<\/p>\n
