It is very important to get our dogs the necessary exercise that they require.  We also have to balance that need with their safety.  Here in Florida, it gets very hot throughout most of the year.  As a result the pavement gets very hot. This pavement is so hot at times that just touching it without the protection of clothing can cause serious burns.<\/p>\n

Employ the 7 second rule- If you can’t touch the pavement with your hand and hold it there for 7 seconds- then your dog should not be walking on it.<\/p>\n

Like you, I get so annoyed when I see people walking there dogs on hot pavement.  The dog can’t stay still as they are always hoping from on foot to another.<\/p>\n

If the dog must be outside on hot pavement, then purchase and train the dog to use dog booties.<\/p>\n

Pet Parents should be checking on how hot the pavement is before walking our furry children.  Burns to the feet and can happen quickly and are quite severe.  Altering walk times to early morning or the evening can be beneficial.  You don’t want this happening to your dog.<\/p>\n
