Luckily for us, the city has plenty to offer, from parks with amenities to trails with endless things to look at and sniff. We’ve created a list of the best dog parks in Pueblo so that you don’t have to hunt them down. You can just grab the leash and head out! City Park Dog Park<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you’re looking for off-leash time, head to<\/span> City Park Dog Park.<\/span><\/a> It’s inside City Park, between the pool and the ball fields. It’s a fenced area, with separate sections for large dogs and small dogs so that you and your pup can find dogs to socialize with that are closer to your preferred size and temperament. The park is a delight to spend time in, with a doggy water fountain, bone-shaped park benches, and early morning\/late night lighting. Outside the dog park, leashes are required, but you’ll be able to find plenty to make it worth your while. There are restrooms, drinking fountains, accessible pathways, and sidewalks. Remember, you are responsible for your dog’s behavior at all times. Clean up after your dog, respect other visitors, make sure your dog responds to recall, and understand that, when you visit this park, you’re doing so at your own risk.<\/span><\/p>\n

They don’t want you bringing food (even dog treats), alcohol, or glass containers into the area. Also, common sense and park policy state that you should not bring your dog if they’re aggressive, sick, in heat, or under 4 months old.<\/span><\/p>\n

Historic Arkansas Riverwalk<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you have lived in Pueblo for any amount of time, you know that the<\/span> Historic Arkansas Riverwalk<\/span><\/a> is worth every photo, Instagram post, and doggy bag. It’s a stunning paved walking trail along the Reservoir, from Runyon Lake, to Lake Pueblo, and out into Pueblo West. All along the paved walk, there are dirt trails that wind you deeper into nature and give you something new to see every day. The paved path can sometimes get a little crowded with walkers, backpackers, rollerbladers, skateboarders, and cyclists, so stepping away gives you that breath of fresh air you were looking for when you left your yard.<\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to maintenance, you probably won’t find a cleaner walk around. Keep your dog on a leash and clean up after them (you can use any of the poop bags provided along the way), and this location will continue to be an astounding part of Pueblo’s culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waggin’ Tail Dog Park<\/b><\/h2>\n

This small dog park is a nice little spot for the community. It was two blows and a water jug ready for your pup on hot days, and a 6-foot fence that even the most athletic dogs struggle to clear. The facility has picnic tables and a newly renovated playground for the kids, if they come along.<\/span><\/p>\n

The greater park area does require all dogs to be kept on leashes at the park. They include that to mean dogs that are not being held by a physical lead\/leash by the owner or caretaker. If you’re in one of the off-leash areas, such as<\/span> Waggin’ Tails Dog Park<\/span><\/a>, which is located in Pixie Park, your pup is obviously allowed to roam free and play until they’re ready for a nap in the grass.<\/span><\/p>\n

Skyline Trail<\/b><\/h2>\n

Skyline Trail<\/span><\/a> is a 3.6-mile loop near the neighborhoods that you know and love. It’s an easy route that takes just over an hour for a casual walker. It isn’t just popular for pet parents: this trail is loved by birders, hikers, and joggers. The best time to visit is during the spring, when you can get some amazing pictures of your pup enjoying all the fresh blooms. The only time we don’t recommend visiting is during December, when it’s cold, harsh, and drab.<\/span><\/p>\n

This outdoor experience puts bright spotlights on Pueblo’s diverse biological and geological wonders. We’re talking about views of the reservoir, high-desert landscapes, wildflowers that bloom just when they’re wanted, and ancient rock formations that will take your breath away.
