1. Mill Creek Canyon<\/span><\/h2>\n

Mill Creek Canyon<\/span><\/a> is a favorite among Salt Lake City locals because of its dog-friendly policies and versatility. The canyon offers multiple trails to explore with your pup, including the Pipeline Trail and Desolation Trail, so you can pick a hike based on your time and energy levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

The canyon provides shaded paths, which is a huge plus for both you and your pup on hot days. Streams along the way give you both a chance to cool off, making it a beautiful and fun hike.<\/span><\/p>\n

Location: <\/b>Around 15 minutes southeast of downtown Salt Lake City.<\/span><\/p>\n

Distance: <\/b>Various, as there are multiple trails.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leash Policy: <\/b>Dogs are allowed off-leash on odd-numbered days and leashed on even-numbered days.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Neff\u2019s Canyon<\/span><\/h2>\n

Neff\u2019s Canyon is less crowded than the other trails on this list, making it ideal for a quiet walk with your pup. The trail starts at a moderate difficulty but gradually becomes steeper as you ascend (if you have an energetic dog, this trail will tucker them out).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The views will not disappoint, and since it\u2019s a less crowded trail, you\u2019ll get to enjoy the scenery without distractions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Location: <\/b>East of Mill Creek Canyon, around 20 minutes from downtown.<\/span><\/p>\n

Distance: <\/b>6 miles round trip; the trail continues to Mount Olympus for more advanced hikers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leash Policy<\/b><\/a>: <\/b>A leash is required at the trailhead, but there are off-leash areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Bonneville Shoreline Trail<\/span><\/h2>\n

Distance: <\/b>Up to 6 miles, but you can turn around anytime.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Dog Lake via Big Cottonwood Canyon<\/span><\/h2>\n

They don\u2019t call it Dog Lake for nothing. It\u2019s one of our favorite dog-friendly hikes in Salt Lake City, and once you take this trail, you\u2019ll understand why. The trail is a moderate climb, ending at Alpine Lake, giving you views that\u2019ll leave you in awe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dog Lake is not only fun for you, but your pup is going to love splashing in the lake and hanging out in shaded areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Location: <\/b>Big Cottonwood Canyon, 30 minutes from Salt Lake City.<\/span><\/p>\n

Distance: <\/b>5.2 miles round trip.<\/span><\/p>\n
