On behalf of the entire Sit Means Sit South Denver family, we would like to wish you and yours a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving! We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. We have so much to be thankful for this time of year, and that includes you! We love what we do and we couldn\u2019t do it without each and every one of you.<\/p>\n<p>As you gather with friends and family this week, we hope your furry companions will be on their very best behavior. Remember, that it\u2019s very important to continue to work with your pets, even at this busy time of year. With so much going on, their obedience will be tested. However, with a little extra attention, you can rest assured that the holidays will be a fun experience for your family, pets and guests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thanksgiving Dog Safety Tips <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As you celebrate Thanksgiving, we remind you that it is important to keep your furry friends\u2019 safety in mind. With all of the guests, food and celebrating, this can be a stressful time for pets. As you select the turkey and make plans to host loved ones, we hope you will take these Thanksgiving dog safety tips to heart:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Watch What You Feed Them: <\/strong>It is important to avoid feeding your dog table scraps throughout the year. However, if you choose to treat your pup on Thanksgiving, we urge you to be cautious. If you feed them turkey, ensure that it is fully cooked and free of bones. Poultry bones have a tendency to splinter and can be very dangerous for dogs to ingest. Aside from turkey, if you choose to feed your pup any other Thanksgiving treats, keep it simple. Avoid dairy products or rich foods. Serve up a few vegetables, like sweet potatoes, along with regular food at meal time. As long as you don\u2019t overdo it, your pup will enjoy their own feast without risk of discomfort later.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Talk to Your Guests: <\/strong>When you invite guests into your home, especially at meal time, be sure and discuss your dog training rules with them. Discourage them from feeding your pup and help them understand the methodology behind the Sit Means Sit dog training program. Make sure all of your guests are prepared to help support our training efforts to avoid confusing your pets.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Crate When Necessary: <\/strong>If you will be hosting a large group, with guests coming and going, it may be best to crate your pup for some of the day. A constant flow of house guests can cause stress. Once everyone has arrived and settled in, you can allow your pet to greet your guests and join the party.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By taking these simple precautions, you will make your Thanksgiving celebration less stressful for your guests and pets.
