Our furry companions are no exception. Depending on your pup\u2019s breed and level of health, they may be more susceptible to overheating than many of their canine pals. If your dog is spending a lot of time outdoors this summer, it\u2019s important to watch for signs of overheating and react accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Signs of Overheating in Dogs<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Abnormal levels of panting<\/li>\n<li>Heaving drool<\/li>\n<li>Disorientation<\/li>\n<li>Dry or discolored gum tissue<\/li>\n<li>Loud, rapid breathing<\/li>\n<li>Vomiting<\/li>\n<li>Diarrhea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preventing Overheating in Dogs <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you begin to notice your pup is displaying any of these signs, it\u2019s up to you to take action right away. In many cases you can prevent your dog from completely overheating or needing medical attention.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seek shade<\/li>\n<li>Give your pup plenty of water<\/li>\n<li>Place a piece of cloth soaked in water on your dog\u2019s head, neck and paws to cool them down as quickly as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s extremely important to avoid over exerting your dog in extreme temperatures. Be sure to consider weather conditions when heading outdoors together. It\u2019s okay to let them sit this one out if their health is in jeopardy. Even if you\u2019re spending time in a pool or a lake, your pup can still overheat. Once temperatures rise above 80 degrees, never leave your dog in the car. In a matter of minutes, temperatures in a vehicle can climb from the 80\u2019s to 100+!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>If you fear that your dog has overheated, seek professional help immediately.<\/em><\/strong><\/span> Rush to the vet, it is best to be overly cautious in these situations!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Denver Dog Training <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As your Denver dog training experts, your pup\u2019s health is our top priority.
