Oso Creek Trail<\/b><\/h2>\n

This hidden gem is 5.5 miles of dog-friendly walking along a beautiful creek. As you go along, you’ll find things to excite your interest, such as the butterfly and celebration gardens, a plant maze, and a peace obelisk. The<\/span> Oso Creek Trail<\/span><\/a> is an excellent place for sniff adventures, as there’s always something new to find and some local marvel to uncover.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you start at the Higher Grounds entrance, you can get some coffee before heading in. Do note that it’s usually the busiest on weekend mornings, but even then, the trail isn’t ever too full to be comfortable. There aren’t water fountains, so make sure you bring what you need, including food if you’ll be out for many hours!<\/span><\/p>\n

Laguna Beach Dog Park<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you’re looking for an off-leash area,<\/span> Laguna Beach Dog Park<\/span><\/a> is the spot for you. There are some rules to keep track of, but if you’re willing to put in the work, this area is worth it. The park is only open daily from dawn to dusk, with the exception of Wednesdays, when it’s closed for maintenance so that it can continue to be pleasent for humans and animals alike. All dogs must be fully licensed and up to date on their vaccinations in California, and there are no spike collars allowed. Take all toys with you when you leave, and accept responsibility for your dog’s actions. It’s basically a list of common dog park etiquette rules, but it’s still worth mentioning. Some dogs may require professional dog training before being able to go to an off-leash dog park.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you do happen to come across an abandoned dog or you witness or are party to a dog attack, Mission Viejo Animal Services should be contacted as soon as possible. They know what to do with abandoned or aggressive dogs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Treasure Island Park<\/b><\/h2>\n

It sits in front of the Montage Resort, which helps it stay very clean and bright. Locals will tell you that the rocks and tide pools alone are worth a visit. The area is stunning, and the room for playing is more than enough.<\/span><\/p>\n

Treasure Island Park is fantastic for families with children and dogs, just dogs, just children, or just yourself! Since it has several spots for sitting and watching the sunset, it doesn’t matter how old you are. There isn’t a single owner who wouldn’t find Treasure Island Park worth the time of them and their dog. You can grab a book and a blanket, walk your dog down to the beach, and enjoy a quiet evening in a beautiful setting.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aliso Creek Riding and Hiking Trail<\/b><\/h2>\n

You might be familiar with the Trails-to-Trails Conservancy, which is determined to repurpose old railway lines into stunning and accessible hiking trails. The Aliso Creek Riding and Hiking Trail is perfect for walking the pup and getting you both the exercise you need while still enjoying shaded areas and local adventure.<\/span><\/p>\n

You are sure to meet other well-behaved dogs and their owners along the way, giving you as much or as little opportunity to connect with other pet parents as you want. Some trails are busier than others, but the Aliso trail is all asphalt and very easy to follow, which makes it easy to navigate, no matter how busy it gets.<\/span><\/p>\n

South Paw Dog Park<\/b><\/h2>\n

This park is complete with dog watering and washing stations. Your little guy or girl can go absolutely bonkers without you worrying about getting them home without turning your car into a mud pit or waiting until you get home to have a bath that turns your bathroom brown.<\/span><\/p>\n

The community that comes to South Paw Dog Park consists of some of the friendliest, most responsible dog owners around. Dogs are always supervised, and the sense of mutual trust is impressive. That probably has something to do with this park being private, but if you’re a member of the local community, you should definitely give it a go. It’s a great place to socialize, especially for puppies who might need a break from the big city.
