Celebrating the Holidays with your Dog

Celebrating the Holidays with your Dog

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The only way this holiday season could get any better is by spending some extra time being festive with your favorite canine companion. Here are some ways to celebrate the holidays with your dog!

Seasonal Treats

Baking treats for your dog is the perfect excuse for you to try out some new recipes and for your dog to have a little something sweet! Show your dog how much you care about them this holiday season by gifting them one (or two!) of these delectable dog-friendly homemade Christmas treats.

Take a Trip to the Tree Farm

Bring your dog to the tree farm to let them sniff out the perfect Christmas tree for your family! They will love the exciting new scents, freedom to roam, and feeling included in your family’s traditions. Always check with your local tree farm to ensure that dogs are welcome, and be sure to bring a leash.

Look at Christmas Lights

Take your dog on a car ride or night walk through your neighborhood to take in all of the Christmas lights! Your pup will love the bright, sparkly displays. Some larger decorations, like inflatables, may scare them, so be sure to keep your distance when observing the decorations.

Play in the Snow

Bundle up in your snow gear and bring your dog outside to play in the snow! Dogs only see snow for a few months out of the year, so let them roll, run, and dive into the snow while they can enjoy it! Bring a ball or frisbee out to improve their tricks in the frosty conditions.

Enjoy a Christmas Movie Together

Your dog may not be as interested in romantic Christmas movies as you are, but they sure would like the extra snuggle time! Cozy up with some hot cocoa and Freeform’s famous 25 days of Christmas movie line-up. Your pup will especially enjoy Christmas movies that involve dogs, so be on the lookout for those.

The holiday season is a great time to demonstrate your love and affection for your dog. Happy “howl”-idays!
