Dog Training Experts In Atlanta

Sit Means Sit Atlanta provides professional dog training in Douglasville, Atlanta, Alpharetta, and the surrounding Metro areas.

You may well ask, “What makes Sit Means Sit unique?” The answer to that question is simple, but powerful. Every one of our dog training programs is custom-fit to your dog, your needs, and your goals. We evaluate all the factors before building a training package for you, so that we’re best able to create a training path that is effective and happy for you and your pup. A dog obedience training program that will work for one dog and owner won’t necessarily fit well with another. Working breed dogs will need a different approach than docile breeds. No matter what, behavior modification is always available.

Due to our desire to meet you and your dog before implementing a plan, we offer free consultations and demonstrations to potential clients. This allows us to gain specific insight into your situation. The demonstration allows us to evaluate the unique factors that affect your dog, which helps us formulate a plan. This is also how we give you an accurate idea of what it will cost to meet your goals of canine behavior.

There is no cost or obligation associated with the Free Demonstration

AKC Canine Good Citizen

The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification is offered by the American Kennel Club, which proves a dog has mastered ten basic skills and can exhibit good manners in and out of the home. We are an official CGC Evaluator. This means we can help you through this two-part course, test your dog’s abilities, and award their certification after they pass. If you’re looking into therapy dog training or service dog training, this is an excellent place to start!

Some benefits of the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification are:

  • It serves as a prerequisite for many therapy dog certifications
  • All dogs are eligible, even if they are not a purebred dog
  • Potential discount on your homeowner’s insurance policies
  • Appealing to rental communities when applying to become a resident

AKC Trick Dog

If you’ve already put in the work to teach your dog cool tricks, why not get them a ribbon for their hard work? We are AKC Trick Dog Program Evaluators, which means we can help you prove how cool your dog is with this expert certification.

The 5 AKC Trick Titles you and your dog can earn:

  • AKC Novice Trick Dog (TKN): Your dog performs 10 skills from the Novice list. (see the link to “Application” below for lists of skills). If a dog has a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate or title on record at AKC, it can do 5 Novice tricks (CGC + 5) to earn the Novice title. See the list of tricks here.
  • AKC Intermediate Trick Dog (TKI): Your dog must have the Novice title, plus perform 10 Intermediate tricks. See the list of tricks here.
  • AKC Advanced Trick Dog (TKA):  Your dog must have the Intermediate title, plus perform 10 tricks from the Advanced list. See the list of tricks here.
  • AKC Trick Dog Performer (TKP): In this title, handlers perform a short routine with at least 10 tricks and at least 3 tricks using props. See the requirements here.

Lunch and Learn Programs

If you are or work a vet, groomer, or dog boarder, we invite you to Sit Means Sit Atlanta dog training for an afternoon of lunch and learning.

We think that everyone who loves dogs should come to one of these events to hear our professionally trained staff teach the tips and tricks of the trade. You will see our beliefs shine through that positive, attention-reward-based training is the best way to see lasting results.

Seminars

Every dog owner will happily say that an obedient dog is a contented dog. We love to spread the truth about dog training through our seminars. Our staff meets with your group to discuss things such as our training methods, scientifically-proven techniques, and how we use remote training collars for communication.

Small Pack Walks

Pack walks are an excellent follow-up to our training programs. It’s a great way to socialize your dog and reinforce their training in a busy, distracting environment with other dogs.

These “group classes,” if you will, are incredibly effective for meeting training goals in a short amount of time. With the aid of an expert dog trainer, you’ll see a world of difference!

Our pack walks are still kept small enough, so you and your dog get one-on-one attention from our trainers without getting lost in a large group. It’s not useful to try and train dogs if there’s too much going on.
