Dog Trainer

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $23/hour

This position involves regular interaction with dogs in a professional training environment. While a love for dogs is essential, candidates should also appreciate the importance of adhering to our established training system. It’s crucial that applicants can objectively and effectively communicate the training methods. Candidates will start as a trainer for our board & train program dogs, but the intention is for that individual to graduate to conducting one-on-one private lessons with our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Handling dogs during training sessions, following instructions and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Employ excellent communication skills to articulate training instructions, feedback, and progress updates to clients in a clear and empathetic manner.
  • Use designated systems and tools to accurately record detailed notes, training plans, and other essential data related to each dog’s progress and client interactions.

  • Follow established protocols for dog handling, ensuring the safety of both dogs and staff.
  • Strive to achieve high levels of client satisfaction by consistently delivering exceptional coaching experiences and maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay informed about proper dog handling techniques and facility protocols.
  • Attend to the well-being of dogs, ensuring proper care, exercise, and occasional field trips, while also maintaining accurate records as required.

Qualifications:

  • Physical stamina and capability to handle dogs of various sizes and energy levels
  • Demonstrate exceptional coaching and communication skills that seamlessly adapt to the unique requirements of each individual and situation
  • Attention to detail when cleaning and sanitizing kennel areas and equipment
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain composure in challenging situations
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to training techniques and protocols established by the facility
  • Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
