Living and training with a dog with aggressive behaviors can be exceptionally challenging for dog owners. Where do you even begin with dog training? These dog’s journey may not have started with puppy training or solid obedience training, leading to the development of these aggressive behaviors. Now both you and your pup need the help of a professional dog trainer and a behavior modification training program! Our expert dog trainers at Sit Means Sit want to make the training process easier for pet parents, regardless of whether it is your first dog or you have two dogs struggling with dangerous behavior issues.

Experienced Dog Trainers

The Sit Means Sit experienced dog trainers offer expert training and a customized approach to every dog and their owners. Most dogs are successful with puppy training and obedience training sessions, improving a dog’s behavior while giving them confidence. A well-trained dog will usually get along with new people, dogs, and other dogs, and be well-behaved in the home environment and new places!

From a little Chihuahua to a mighty German Shepherd, some dogs need a little extra training help. We offer a board-and-train program that focuses on behavior modification. Our goal is long-term success and strong bonds between your family and your furry friend. Behaviors and services we tackle at the reactive dog boot camp include:

  • Stop barking
  • Behavior issues
  • Anxiety in public settings
  • When your dogs destroy things
  • Manage bad habits like aggression, reactivity, jumping, and barking
  • Separation anxiety
  • Leash skills
  • Off-leash control

Using proven training tools and positive reinforcement, we change and manage your dog’s behavior during their private lessons with us at our training facility. Pet parents know we will get to the root cause of these behaviors and create a thriving family member. This is an amazing way to help your pup, contact us about a free evaluation and sign up today!

Example Dog Training Program for Aggressive Dogs

Our boot camp training sessions make life easier for owners of aggressive dogs. We do all the heavy lifting at our board and train program, working on your dog’s anxiety and reactive and aggressive behaviors. By teaching basic obedience training and behavior modification, we will transform your pup into the family dog of your dreams! Depending on the pet parents’ schedule, we can also focus on many behavior problems in our day training program. Talk to a member of our training team to find out the best option for your household!

We recommend our clients start out with our five-day program, although a more reactive dog might benefit for up to two weeks. This gives a professional dog trainer a chance to establish a relationship with your dog and gain knowledge on how to design their training program.

Dogs dealing with aggression, reactivity, or severe anxiety especially need to connect with one of our dog trainers. Let’s talk about how these private sessions with a trainer will look every day they are staying with us!

Phase 1

We understand the first drop-off can be hard for both you and your dog. Before diving into obedience training, our dog trainers use their expertise to help work through your dog’s anxiety.

After your dog has calmed down, we want the trainer and dog to begin to establish a confident relationship. Only then can your dog trainer begin to use their knowledge of dog training to begin behavior modification and obedience training to slowly begin to change your dog’s behavior and aggression issues. As a team, we use a gentle approach to dog training, teaching your aggressive dog learns to do well with all people in your life, including women and children.

Phase 2

During the second day of your dog’s journey, we begin to assess your dog’s behavior issues and how to build their training program. If your dog has severe aggressive behaviors, we might begin muzzle training, making them safe and able to manage their issues while working on behavior modification. We understand the muzzle can be scary-looking, but it is one of the many training tools our dog trainers use to help create a better-behaved dog!

We also begin obedience training and basic commands. Included in the boot camp education are heel work and advanced sit, giving your dog confidence and new behaviors to focus on. Let us know if there is anything special you want your dog to learn!

Phase 3

If your dog has done well the first couple of days, on the third day your dog trainer will begin teaching off-leash skills. Recall skills are incredibly important, both for the safety of you, your dog, and other people. We like to practice these exercises in a new environment like parks so your pup can learn to be under control during their daily exercise, even while a stranger or random dog approaches!

Phase 4

Using the muzzle, we continue to work on exposing your dog to distractions. While your dog is safely under control with the dog trainer, we allow new people and dogs to approach your dog. Using their new obedience skills, we reward them for being focused and not falling back into their pattern of reactive or aggressive behaviors. The purpose of these training sessions is calmness.

Phase 5

On the last day of your training program, your professional dog trainer will continue to perfect your dog’s obedience and new behavior modification, both on-leash and off-leash. We want to send home a pet ready to be a part of a team with their owners. Ultimately, our goal is for dogs to have the life skills to be in control off-leash with wonderful manners and no behavioral problems.

From puppy training and group classes to private lessons for reactive dogs, we offer services for every dog owner, regardless of their background, breed, or age. Using years of dog training expertise and positive reinforcement, our professional dog trainers will help you achieve the pup of your dreams!
