We Confuse Our Dogs When We Do This

When dogs and humans can only communicate through a few commands and some hand gestures, there is bound to be confusion between the two, especially when there is so much we humans do without being able to explain it to our dogs.

Here are some of the ways we may be confusing our dogs.

We Leave Them Alone

Dogs love spending time with other dogs and with people. Even when they are tired and need to rest, they enjoy doing it with other people around. This means that they can’t understand why we have to leave them alone or when and if we will ever come back.

Eventually, they get used to being alone and feel confident that we will come back, but they will still often get sad and confused when we leave them alone.

We Change Our Smell

Everything we wear and use throughout the day carries a smell with it. Our clothes, shoes, wallets, bag, and everything else has a smell that our dogs grow accustomed too. However, cleaning products, soaps, and shampoos, as well as all of the other smells that we encounter in our lives can change the smell of us. This can cause confusion for our dogs and you may notice they give you an extra long sniff at the end of the day.

We Don’t Eat From the Trash

Dogs are guided by their noses, so this means if they smell food in the trash that will want to eat it and don’t understand why we don’t. When we throw away our scrap or leftover food, our dog gets confused and wonder why we aren’t eating it.

We Watch TV

While humans can fully understand and enjoy watching TV, dog brains do not work the same way. Their brains cannot grasp what is happening on a TV and do not want to sit still to watch it. They would much rather walk around a park or a beach and watch be entertained that way.

Dog’s get confused by many things we do, however there are many things that dogs do that confuse us too, but we just accept that as dogs being dogs.
