Dog Training
Experts In Twin Cities
Sit Means Sit Dog Training provides professional dog and puppy obedience training in Minneapolis and surrounding Twin Cities areas.
At Sit Means Sit, we help you to have a happy, obedient, and confident dog with the most advanced training in the shortest time possible. Our dog trainers specialize in off-leash obedience and behavioral problems. Our programs are customizable for your specific needs and goals.
Our dog obedience training is unlike anything you have experienced before. The goal of our training is to give you a dream, well-behaved dog. Because of this, we go beyond basic training, and develop that advanced obedience needed to create a dog you can take anywhere.
It starts with basic commands and leash manners, and grows to create a dog that is confident, happy and secure. If you’ve tried other programs and have been frustrated at how none of them seems to work, it is time to use Sit Means Sit. So many dog owners have to rehome their family pet, simply because they are relying on minimum-wage high school students from big box stores to train the family pet.
From separation anxiety to couch surfing, we craft a plan where our training goals align with yours. So much of dog training relies on teaching the dog owner to communicate effectively. In our training sessions, we work with both the dog and owner to build the skills to help reach their potential.
We also have a fantastic community with group classes, where like-minded people can get together and work on their goals! Take a look below at what our training packages have to offer. If you have any questions or want more information, please contact us for a Free Dog Training Consultation!

Day Train
Our Day Training program provides the customized solutions your looking for while also fitting into your busy schedule! This program gives similar results to a board and train program, but without having to be away from your pup for several days. At the end of each day, you will have an opportunity to attend a group class with your dog, where you’ll discover what they’ve learned that day and how to encourage this behavior through in home practice until their next session.
Benefits of Day Training with a Dog Trainer
- Your pup will reap the benefits of advanced training without having to spend several days away from you
- We will take care of the training so that you won’t have to hit pause on your busy schedule
- Once your dog completes our Day Train program, they can join us for Group Class

Private Lessons are perfect for those looking for a hands-on, completely customized program. During this program, our experienced staff will help tackle your pet’s unique needs and challenges. Whether it be aggression, excessive barking, leash pulling, or accidents in the house, we can help improve any behavior!
Since puppies are not yet fully vaccinated, our puppy coaching tends to be one-on-one sessions designed with age-appropriate coaching that focuses on basic commands and positive reinforcement and is geared to help you with potty coaching. This prepares them to excel in the Day coaching program.
This one-on-one program will provide you with new skills to continue and keep your pup well-behaved for their entire life!

With over two decades of experience in professional animal training, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to help you and your furry companion build a strong bond and develop positive behaviors. Prior to my career as a trainer, I served as a handler in the military, where I honed my skills in obedience training and behavior modification.
I am dedicated to providing personalized training programs tailored to the unique needs of each individual and their human counterpart. Let me help you create a happy and harmonious relationship with your loyal friend.

Since Sit Means Sit opened its doors in 2008, I’ve been a part of the team. A profound love for canines has always been in my heart, and witnessing the remarkable transformations facilitated by Sit Means Sit solidified my desire to contribute. At home, I share my life with two remarkable companions: Bella, a Doberman, and Rufus, an American pitbull.
As your initial point of contact when reaching out to Sit Means Sit, I’m proud to hold certification as an AKC evaluator. My primary objective is to equip both you and your furry friend with the guidance and assurance necessary for a fulfilling life together!

Dog Owners Reviews
We love customers and their dogs. They love us.
We’re very happy with the results so far. He’s a changed dog and we are changed owners enjoying our dog so much more.
Marley learns so much here. Every time I have a question or new thing that I would like him to learn all the staff is right there with all the information that you would need. From basic obedience to walking on a treadmill. Recommend them to anyone that is looking to get a new dog…
I adopted my foster and she was pretty dog reactive. I found sit means sit and Pat and Ryan did an amazing job with Mella and I had my hesitations but I can say after 3 months of group class I can now walk Mella past other dogs barking and all she does is cry…
We’ve seen such a change in our rescue dog since we first came to Sit Means Sit in Spring Lake Park. He used to be skittish and scared of strange things (like wood floors and water bowls). We just took him on a big adventure out west for the second year in a row, and…
