As Seen Training On

Our group training classes are offered to dogs and pet parents who have graduated from one of our other training programs, such as an obedience class, puppy socialization class, or private lesson series. Having a foundation in basic obedience and socialization is a prerequisite to joining a group training program here at Sit Means Sit.
Dog training requires a high level of dedication and is a brick-and-mortar process. That means that as a dog progresses through their training program, they build upon skills they’ve developed during prior classes. Another important element to any program is to establish training goals. This gives both dogs and dog owners something to work towards.
We took all of this into consideration, and thus, our group training programs were born. These training services allow dogs and pet parents to work together in a social environment amongst others of a similar skill level without the concern of encountering dogs with aggressive behaviors or other behavioral issues. These classes are taught with a focus on skill building and refreshers to keep dogs engaged and jumping (no, not literally) at the opportunity to brush up on what they’ve already learned to help build confidence. We often find that dogs and humans alike enjoy forming bonds with other participants and building a sense of community, both working together and learning from one another.
What Sets Our Facility and Dog Trainers Apart
Instructors at Sit Means Sit focus on emulating real world scenarios that a dog and their owner could encounter on any given day. While it may be easier to create an artificial environment that is free of distractions, that is simply not realistic, and defeats the purpose of training all together. We want to be sure you and your pup are walking with confidence, no matter where you are.
By practicing in situations that mimic the real world, a dog and their owner work as a team to focus together and navigate the situation at hand using the tools and skills they’ve learned during training sessions. This has a direct correlation to the results they see when they step paw and foot outside of our training facility and encounter similar situations. It is not new or scary, it is simply something they’ve practiced and trained for. This allows everyone to feel prepared and confident rather than stressed and anxious. For example, we can work on off-leash control and recall so that you can confidently bring your dog to a dog park, and group classes offer the convenience of having other dogs and humans around in an environment that is completely safe and supportive.
In group classes, there may be commotion, there could be barking or loud voices, or even people running by. But guess what? These are all things you’ll see in daily life, and that is exactly why we designed our programs this way. Our trainers are dedicated to helping dogs build and maintain good manners, obedience, and positive behaviors in all environments. Don’t worry, we would never leave the pet parents out, we’ll make sure to practice supportive and positively reinforced owner handling, too.
When dogs and their owners work together as a team, they work to establish clear communication skills and strengthen their bond. Group classes offer the invaluable opportunity to work with other dogs and their owners who enjoy working on the same skills while having the support of one of our knowledgeable trainers every step of the way.
By practicing fun tricks and basic obedience skills, a dog is able to build their confidence by learning and mastering new things. If you feel your dog could use a refresher on any specific skills or topics, not to worry, we offer seminars for this exact reason. Group training programs require the participation of the owner as they will be the pack leader both inside and outside of our training center. No matter what you and your pup are working on in class, you can be certain you’ll be working alongside one of our knowledgeable trainers who also comes prepared with tons of treats! Sorry, humans, the food is only for the dogs!
New Clients Welcomed at Sit Means Sit
Group classes are offered only to dogs and owners who have completed a prior training program at Sit Means Sit. We’ve established this criteria to create an environment where dogs and owners can learn together without concern of classmates with potential behavioral issues or aggressive behaviors. In our group sessions, clients not only learn from the trainer, but they also learn from one another. We are often told by our clients that the group classes are their favorite part of the training program!
Our training facility is open to dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and behaviors. Our training services are offered to puppies, older dogs, mixed-breed dogs, purebred dogs, and everyone in between! Much like humans, we understand that every dog is unique, and our trainers are adept at developing appropriate programs and dog training services that work with a dog’s specific needs while still working towards accomplishing their training goals.
If you have a dog where behavioral issues are a concern, please contact us so that we can learn more about your dog and recommend the appropriate program to get them started. While they may not be ready for a group session just yet, we are confident we can get them there through private training, Day Training programs, or Board and Train programs. These programs allow you to bring your dog in for routine private sessions or offer the opportunity for training while boarding with us. Our trainers will work with your dog on the basics and will also work to address any behavioral issues along the way.
If dog owners have an interest in pursuing the Canine Good Citizen award with their dog, we can lend a paw there as well and can help them work towards their goals. We are proudly associated with the American Kennel Club.
Training programs can have a profound impact on your furry friend, and if you’ve made it this far and have an interest in working with us, give us a call! Our team will take time to learn more about your dog, your training goals, and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. From there, we can work on suggesting the most appropriate programs to get you and your pup started working with Sit Means Sit. Graduates of our programs can go on to do just about anything, whether that be therapy dog training, show handling, agility, and more.
At Sit Means Sit we are a group of dedicated and knowledgeable trainers who pawsitively enjoy working with pups and their pawrents, our door is always open to you. We cannot wait to see what you can achieve together!
