These Major Shopping Chains are Dog-Friendly

You want your canine by your side as much as possible when you’re a dog person. Being able to go to the store with your pup is a great way to spend more time with them, increase their socialization skills, and introduce them to all kinds of new sites, smells, and sounds.

Before You Go Shopping with Your Dog

If you have a small dog, bringing a carrier is the smart way to go, especially if you want a “hands-free” shopping experience. For bigger dogs, a reliable and strong leash and collar are a necessity. Also, don’t forget to bring doggie bags just in case your pooch has an accident.

Lowe’s

Lowe’s policy is that animals and service animals alike are allowed in their store as long as they’re well-behaved. They must also be on a leash, harnessed, or carried.

Gap/Old Navy

Not all Gap stores have the same pet-friendly policy. It still depends on the leasing store and if it permits it. If the store is able to allow pets, they do as long as they are well-behaved and leashed.

Macy’s

Many Macy’s allow owners to bring their pets along in-store, but not all, so it’s best to check in advance. Since most Macy’s are connected to larger malls, they may have to adhere to the mall’s policies.

Barnes & Noble

Not every Barnes & Noble is pet friendly, but many are! If your branch is pet-friendly, they will just not be allowed in the coffee shop and food areas.

Bass Pro Shop

Bass Pro Shop happily welcomes dogs into their stores, just not in the shop’s restaurants for sanitary reasons. Just make sure to bring your poop bags to pick up after Fido if there are any accidents!

Michaels

All Michaels stores are pet-friendly as long as they are well-behaved so as to respect the other customers. The only exception is that dogs are not allowed in food preparation classes.

Urban Outfitters

This Gen Z hub welcomes pups with open arms at many of its locations. Their stores across the country are known for being extremely dog-friendly. Plus, most stores’ spacious, industrial-style layouts are ideal for shopping with your dog.

HomeGoods

If you’re like us, you can go to HomeGoods and mindlessly fill your cart with the merchandise. Well, luckily, you can bring Fido into most of these stores, including Marshalls & TJMazz – so now you’ll have a little less room in your cart to fill with things you don’t need.

Pottery Barn

The home furnishing store, Pottery Barn, allows owners to shop with their furry friends in their stores. They ask that any pets brought in are well-behaved and leashed at all times.

Keep in mind that a busy retail environment might not be the ideal environment for all dogs. So keep an eye on your furry friend’s comfort level to know when they’ve reached their limit so you can avoid a meltdown.
