About Sit Means Sit Dog Training

Dog Training Programs

Any Dog Any Age Any Problem

Board & Train

We are excited to introduce our 1 Week Jump Start & 2 Week Well Mannered Board and Train programs! These are a great option for those owners with dogs that need basic obedience training but do not exhibit serious behavioral issues that require our longer Board and Train programs.

In our 1 Week & 2 Week Board and Train programs, we will offer continuous structure, leadership and guidance to your dog for 4 or 11 consecutive days. Our training staff will focus on the time-consuming repetitions required in initial foundation work and E-collar conditioning that the average dog owner typically cannot fit into a busy schedule.

Not Located in Traverse City? No Worries!

We offer our 2 Week Board and Train program in surrounding Michigan areas, including Grand Rapids! Pick up and drop off available. Contact us today for more information!

Day Dog Training Program

Day Train

Day training is the newest innovation in our training programs. It is a blend of an immersion and private lessons, designed to involve owners more in the training process, while still getting the huge benefit of a professional spending quality time with your dog.

With day training, we split the responsibility of training. We work with your dog for 1 day each week for three consecutive weeks. You drop them off in the morning, we train them, you pick them up and we give you a lesson, in most cases, each session, ranging from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on what was covered in that day’s training.

Private Lessons

Private Lessons

We are now offering 1/1 dog training for select dogs at our training center. Your dog will not only learn the basic necessary commands, such as Sit, Down, Place, Heel, and Recall, but will also be able to understand the calm state of mind that is needed so you are able to have your dog around lots of distraction.

Keep in mind that a lot of the 1/1 training work is going to be about 90% you the dog owner, and 10% us the dog trainer. We show you the basics and the fundamentals and you work with your dog daily to get the results you want. You and your dog will learn the basics of remote collar training, as that is the best way we feel to get an off leash trained dog, an obedient dog, and a dog that you can enjoy.

Jason Folgmann

Jason FolgmannOwner, Head Trainer

My name is Jason Folgmann and this is Jake. I am happy and feel lucky to call Traverse City, MI my home. I have always loved dogs and truly enjoyed working with them over the years. I finally decided to follow my dream and open up my own business and Sit Means Sit was the obvious choice. With the support of my wife, two boys and family, the decision was easy. We are excited to bring Sit Means Sit Dog Training and Doggy Daycare to the Traverse City community and look forward to meeting everyone and their dogs.

Jason – I hope this finds you and your family doing well? We have had a great year and fall with Shelby! She is almost flawless in the field hunting. She is also a great family dog with our grand kids, so much fun this summer on Beaver Island. Thanks so much for your help….

We have been brining our 1 year old Mini Schnauzer, Bernie to Sit Means Sit and Jason for just over a month. He goes everyday for doggy day care and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Bernie used to come with us to our office, but a move made it impossible and we searched everywhere to…

Jason worked with our Yorkie for 15-20 minutes and I was amazed at what he was able to accomplish in such a short amount of time. Our dog is one stubborn little pup, and if she can be trained by “Sit Means Sit,” any dog can!!”
