Portland Dog-Friendly Activities

Portland Dog-Friendly Activities

Taking your dog for walks down your same route and to the same parks over and over again can get boring for you and your pooch. Why not change things up a bit while getting to explore the beautiful city of Portland? Here are some excellent dog-friendly activities for you to spend some time exploring with your furry friend!

Sellwood Riverfront Park

This riverfront park has a 1.5-acre area for your pup to roam and play freely! That’s right – a beautiful area for your dog to explore without you holding them back on a leash. We recommend bringing poop bags and plenty of water for your active dog. Great for socializing and for getting some fresh air, you’ll find this park will keep your four-legged friend entertained for hours! Say bye to boring walks!

Tryon Creek State Park

To get a breath of fresh air outside of Portland, check out this impressive 3.8-mile trail with your doggo. They’ll love getting their legs moving and spending some quality time with you in nature. Your dog will have to stay leashed, but we promise the lush greenery and peace of mind is worth it! Visit this beautiful state park with your dog to switch up your exercise routine or just to enjoy the views.

Portland Saturday Market

To really switch things up, bring your dog to the Portland Saturday Market! Since the market gets crowded, this may not be the best place to exercise your dog, but they’ll feel more included in your family activities than ever before! Bowls of water are sometimes available for dogs, but we recommend bringing a portable dog bowl and a bottle of water just to be safe.

Wildwood Trail, Forest Park

Discreetly located right near downtown Portland, you’d never know this beautiful trail existed! 30 miles of trail will take about 2 days to complete if you’re up for a retreat. If you’d rather tackle the trail slowly, visit a couple of times and try out a different stretch of the trail each time. Your doggo needs to be leashed while on the trail, but they’ll appreciate the fresh air more than you know!

International Rose Test Garden

For plant-loving pooches, the International Rose Test Garden is pet-friendly! You can take in the roses and many other plants on display in the garden while bonding with your dog. With lots to sniff and plenty of space to roam, we can’t imagine a better weekend activity for you and your dog!

As it turns out, you don’t have to stick to the same old, boring routine when it comes to spending time with your dog. Try out any or all of the activities we’ve listed to brighten up your day and get your dog out of the house. Get out and explore all that Portland has to offer!
