Dog Training Classes
Any Dog Any Age Any Problem
Day Training
Probably our most popular training program for dogs of various breeds and ages, the Day Training Program is perfect for clients who want their dog trained but might have busy schedules. You do not need to drop your dog or puppy off for long overnights at a board and train program. Instead, they can come once a week and train for a full day with a professional trainer at our facility!
Day training is also a great option for clients dealing with tricky or unmanageable behavior from jumping on strangers, and rough puppy teen play, to aggression or reactivity. Let our trainers do the hard work of behavior modification and laying down obedience foundations so you get to enjoy wonderfully trained pets!
Your pup will work at our facility, as well as pet-friendly CNY area locations like parks and pet stores. All you have to do is drop them off in the morning and pick up your well-trained dog after work!
Private Lessons
Want to learn about pet training and problem solving your puppy or dog’s behavior problems by yourself? We love it when owners want to take a hands-on role in their dog training! Our Private Lessons are a great opportunity to learn about pet training so you can be confident enough to handle your dog in any scenario and tackle any behavior issues that might come up along the training journey.
The private lesson programs at Sit Means Sit are curated based on what you want to learn and what you want to teach your dog. During your private lesson, your trainer will be focused on you and your dog or puppy with the distraction of other animals.
Meet with your trainer once-a-week for an hour-long session at our facility, your home, pet-friendly parks, or almost any location where you think your pup needs extra behavior help!
Group Classes
Obedience training is not our only goal, we also want to prepare your dog to be successful in any real-world scenario! Our Group Classes are a great option to introduce and generalize your dog around new distractions and environments while still under the professional guidance of one of our expert trainers.
Your dog will join other owners and their dogs at Group Classes held at our training center, park, pet stores, and other pet-friendly locations around Central NY. Your pooch will be exposed to new things, giving you the chance to perfect their obedience skills, and your dog the opportunity to learn how to obey in unique situations.
When you see how successful your dog is in group training classes, you will have the confidence to be able to go on adventures and know your dog will be on their best behavior! Take advantage of it and go on your favorite hike off-leash trusting that your pup will obey every command and be under control!
Board and Train Programs
Do your want your canine best friend to have a more immersive dog training experience, feel like their behavior is more than you can handle, or simply want the best care possible for your dog if you are going on vacation? Our Board and Train Program might be a great fit for you!
By spending overnights at our facility, your dog will receive round-the-clock training from our professional dog trainers who will care and treat your dog like they are their own family pet. During Board and Train, our staff will will use proven training methods to lay down a foundation of basic obedience while tackling any severe behavior problems our clients are worried about.
Your dog will get to train at our facility and other pet-friendly locations. Unlike some traditional boarding facilities, your dog won’t get bored or pick up bad habits and you will pick up a much better behaved pup!
Our Team
Professional trainers. Attentive friendly staff.
Dave is the owner and head trainer. Although Dave is originally from the Central New York area, he has been training with the Sit Means Sit system since 2009 with Anthony Bracciante in Denver.
While living in Denver, Dave rescued his chocolate lab Maddi. After obtaining mediocre results with other obedience training systems and frustrated that Maddi could not be trusted off leash or around other dogs, he knew there must be an answer to his “problems.” Although Maddi had been labeled by other dog trainers as “unsociable” and was told she should be kept away from other dogs, Dave’s answer came with a FREE demonstration with Anthony and the Sit Means Sit system.
Within minutes, Maddi was off leash and under control around multiple dogs and other distractions. Not only was Maddi under control around severe distractions, but her confidence went through the roof. Maddi went from a timid, and at times, fear aggressive dog, to a happy, confident, and trustworthy dog. “After training with Sit Means Sit, I was able to realize Maddi’s as well as my full potential. She was able to go hiking, snowshoeing, boating, and much more with me! The only frustration I have with the Sit Means Sit system is that I didn’t start earlier.”
Since the demo in 2009, Dave and Maddi haven’t looked back.
Justin is one of our trainers. Growing up right here in Cicero, dogs have always been a huge part of his life. Justin came to Sit Means Sit initially as a client. He is a proud owner of a high energy Weimaraner named Remi.
Remi was trained in basic obedience but Justin wanted more. He was looking for training that would allow quick results with off leash reliability. That’s when he came upon Sit Means Sit.
Quickly falling in love with the Sit Means Sit training process and the fast results Justin didn’t think twice when the opportunity arose to become a part of our family.
Jordan is one of our trainers. Growing up right here in Cicero, she’s grown up with a love of all animals. She has had dogs all her life, along with horses. Currently she owns a German shepherd, Salem.
Jordan joined our team because she wants dogs to have the best possible quality of life and enjoys giving the owners knowledge to help the challenging dogs that most people wouldn’t give the chance.
Rebecca is one of our trainers. Rebecca grew up in Central New York in the Village of Homer, where she participated in sport, theater, and the studio arts. From the age of 9, she traveled along the east coast showing and handling dogs in Competition and Junior Showmanship, with a focal point on (but not limited to) Bernese Mountain dogs and Leonbergers.
She went on to work with her family and breeders in PA and OH, helping with the breeding and whelping process of two litters. Sadly, Rebecca doesn’t have a puppy companion at this time, but she is a cat mom. And yes, her cat, Shiva, does know how to sit. Growing up, she always had a passion and love for animals, getting the chance to raise ferrets, rabbits, ducks, pheasants, and, of course, dogs.
After moving away and working as a full-time nanny in CT, she came back to her roots. Sit Means Sit has given her the opportunity to return to her love for dogs through training. She believes there are no bad dogs, just dogs that haven’t been taught yet! And she’s more than happy to teach. Her past as a Teaching Assistant her last two years of high-school in Studio Art helped lay a solid foundation to help not only the dogs but their owners as well. Nothing feels better than peace of mind, and a happy, well-behaved dog brings an owner just that.
McKenzie is one of our trainers. McKenzie proudly serve as both an AKC evaluator and a co-evaluator for K-9 Caring Angels, a national therapy and service dog organization. She works with therapy and service dog teams throughout the Syracuse area—and lives with four incredible dogs of her own, including two certified therapy dogs, one service dog, and one spirited pup in training.
With experience ranging from basic obedience to public access work, she’s all about creating confident, well-mannered dogs and building strong relationships between dogs and their people. She believes training should be clear, fun, and tailored to fit your dog’s unique personality.
Whether you’re looking to improve behavior at home, prepare for therapy work, or just strengthen the bond with your dog—she’s here to help you and your pup succeed, one sit at a time!
Cam is one of our trainers. He grew up right here in Cicero. No matter how big or small, Cam has always been fascinated by animals. He always had family pets; dogs, cats, and even a tortoise!
He would always watch dog training shows on tv and would try to train his family dog Rudie; So when he saw an opportunity to join Sit Means Sit, he didn’t look back! He quickly saw how fast and reliable the training system worked, and applied it to training Rudie. Now Cam and Rudie go on off leash hikes all over New York State!
As a trainer, Cameron enjoys being able to educate families on how to work with their dog. He loves being able to give every client fast and reliable results!
Elycia (Elly) is originally from Louisville Kentucky and moved to Central New York in 2016 to study Equine Science and play volleyball at Morrisville State College. Growing up, Elly had dogs her entire life and has always had a love for any and all animals.
Along with her affinity for animals, she has always loved helping people and putting a smile on their face. Sit Means Sit provided Elly with the opportunity to combine her passions through helping people build stronger relationships with their dogs. She currently owns a 5 year old German Shepherd/Husky mix named Odin, which through ongoing dog and human reactivity, training is progressing wonderfully and is gradually becoming a more social and confident dog. Her personal experience with Odin has inspired a passion for helping others with the same challenges at Sit Means Sit.
Emma is one of our trainers. She grew up in Endicott, NY and originally came upstate in 2020 to study Equine Business at Morrisville State College. Growing up she had a love and passion for all animals and was active in 4H and horses.
After spending time at various positions in the horse industry, she decided it was time for a change and discovered Sit Means Sit. After joining the team, she quickly saw how effective the system was and how positive and upbeat the environment was kept by the team. Becoming a trainer with Sit Means Sit, fulfilled a life long passion and dream to work with dogs and another way to help fellow pet lovers reach their goals.

We love customers and their dogs. They love us.
Absolutely amazing worth every penny! We have two large high energy dogs Benny &Nela who love to jump, pull on leash, Harass house guests and love to get in trouble! Just finished our second day and our dogs are angels. I have seen such confidence in them and they enjoy going to “school”! If you…
I believe you guys have helped me with Honey so much, I can’t praise you enough. Without Sit Means Sit, I’m not sure what I would have done!
I wanted my Pugs to be able to walk loose leash, stay in distracting situations, and come to me when called. We had tried various other training methods and were especially concerned with our dog who would chase cars. With SMS, those goals were mastered with in a couple months. The Pugs have since passed…
I was at the end of my rope with our dog Rufus. I told my husband to get rid of him of course he said no let’s try some training. I agreed to try training however it was against my better judgement. Rufus would eat our furniture he put holds in not one but two…
