Example Dog Training Program for Aggressive Dogs

When you are looking for trainers who can handle aggressive dogs, then it is time to look at our boot camp options. We will be able to train dogs who struggle with separation anxiety and aggression, allowing them to learn basic obedience and the life skills to allow them to be the great dog you are looking for. There are many behavior issues we can focus on in our day training program and we encourage the family member to check out all the options. Boot camp is an board and train program and allows our trainers to work around the schedule of owners; something that might be more difficult to accomplish in regular training classes.

While a successful training program will typically take more than five days, this can be a good starting point for your dog, providing them with time around an expert trainer and ensuring that they have a successful relationship from the start of the program.

A reactive dog will need to work closely with one of our professional trainers, and we are confident that this obedience training will be able to help. We want to help build a stronger relationship and give owners control over their dog’s behavior. Let’s take a closer look at how each day will occur to help you get the most out of your furry friend.

Phase 1

The first day at our facility can be the biggest challenge during dog training. Our trainers will work with your reactive dog to help take them away from the owner and successfully work through separation anxiety if it shows up at our facility. We use positive tools and proven science behind animal behavior to help when dealing with your pup’s difficult issues.

The main goal here is to help the dog get used to and familiar with the dog trainer. Nothing can happen until the two have a successful relationship with one another, and some of the behavior modification and basic obedience can happen later. We will not use the form in this training program. You want your reactive dog to do well with women and children as well, so we will use a gentle touch and slowly work through each step with them.

Phase 2

On the second day, we can look at how to progress with your dog. Depending on the fear issues and the level of aggression, we may choose to continue with a leash and muzzle from the first day or move on to some of the other steps for dog training and behavior modification.

This is a good day to work more on basic obedience dog training to help them learn some of the commands that you would like. We can work on not pulling, the “heel” position, and “advanced sit” to help the dog have something good to focus on and learn some control. This is a great way to improve confidence as a team, too.

Phase 3

This is the day we will work on some of the off-leash control that they need to know with their trainer. The dog trainers can help them recall skills and work on how to behave without the leash holding them back. They can practice some of the essential skills that your dog will need in a public park and on daily walks and hiking trails, such as having someone run past the dog to see what will happen.

Phase 4

With the help of the muzzle, the distractions will continue. Other dogs and humans will be around during this time while dog trainers work to maintain the dog’s attention, keeping them focused and stopping them from exhibiting behavior issues. The goal is to help your dog remain calm around others.

Phase 5

During this day, our dog trainers will continue to work on some of the basic obedience and other skills that they worked on for dog training on the other days. Slowly, the techniques will remove the collar and watch as your dog behaves. Before the program is over, the goal is to help your dog maintain control and have no behavior issues, even when you take them for a walk.

Whether you are looking at our puppy training, want to make sure that your dog can get along with other dogs or the neighbor’s dog, or recently adopted a new dog for just companionship, our positive reinforcement dog training will be able to help you have the successful relationship you are looking for.
