Different Ways You Can Exercise with Your Dog

There is almost no end to the benefits that can come from regular exercise for both dogs and humans. And, there is no better workout buddy than your furry friend. So next time you are feeling like you need to get active, grab your dog and try one of these workouts.

Walking

This is the most obvious, but for a good reason! Humans and dogs both love to go on a nice walk. Walks can be as long or short as you want and are a great way to get some exercise while also getting fresh air and enjoying nature.

If walking can get old, try switching it up by exploring different neighborhoods or nearby walking paths.

Jogging

If you are looking for something with a little bit higher intensity than a walk, jogging is a great exercise to do with your dog! It will get you and your pup’s heart rates up. And, dogs make great running buddies because, if they love to run, they will hold you accountable and keep you motivated throughout your run.

Hiking

There is no better way to enjoy some tougher terrain than by heading out on a hike with your pup. Different hikes can have different intensity levels so you can tailor them to your own needs and you can explore some amazing nature close to home!

Swimming

While some dogs may be afraid of the water, others love nothing more than to swim around in a pool on a hot day. If your pooch likes to swim, get some exercise in a dog-friendly pool by swimming laps, playing fetch, or diving.

Doga

Doga, or dog yoga, is a great exercise for dogs with lower energy levels or for humans who just need a nice relaxing workout. If you can find some poses that are easy for your dog to mimic, such as a downward dog pose or compass pose, you and Fido can have an amazing time doing some stretching together.
