Before we started with Sit Means Sit, Brutus was a 4 year old German Shepherd that we thought we managed just fine. We knew he had some issues but we also knew how to avoid them. However, when we adopted Lola (a 16 month old Rottweiler) we realized that Brutus’ issues were much more severe than we thought.

Brutus was never socialized as a puppy so he had zero manners around other dogs – he was constantly trying to “herd” her. That night, we realized we didn’t want Lola to be afraid of him so we had both dogs completely separated, even for outside breaks and eating which was very hard on our schedules. It was at this point we realized we needed help. Our consultation went so well I thought Steve was going to hug you before you left that evening. We were impressed how much you knew about dog behaviour and how it applied to us.

Our first training session you were completely honest about our situation – we were expecting weeks of training before allowing them to be near each other, even with muzzles on. Brutus struggled with allowing a stranger to tell him what to do and to be honest, I was expecting it to be easy so I was a little discouraged. By our second training session, we’d come so far with what you’d taught us that we were allowing the dogs to be together (but muzzled). By the end of the first week we had both dogs together without muzzles!

We look forward to training on Saturdays and we consider Sit Means Sit training the best decision we’ve ever made and would recommend this to anyone with a dog, young or old.

I really enjoyed our time spent together and I am looking forward to starting back up in the Spring. Stella has shown significant improvement in many areas and I’m so excited to continue advancing with her.

I mentioned that I was getting together with a friend and her very pleasant, laid back Leonberger- we did so and Stella had a great experience. I was very happy with her reaction both to my friend as well as her dog. Although we have a lot of work to do- I am beginning to see a more relaxed, attentive version of the dog I love so much.

Just a one-line note to tell you how well Miss Fresca is doing with the training! After our last session, at which you impressed upon me the importance of setting the tone right in the parking lot (SO true!!), we have been working beautifully together. She still has moments when she’s off somewhere, but that’s almost always because I lose track of her, so it’s on me.

I can’t tell you how great it feels to look forward to a good walk with her!

Thank you so much!
