Pet-Friendly Stores in Albuquerque
Albuquerque is incredibly dog-friendly. In fact, it’s been named in several columns that commended that exact feature!
- Named by TheStreet as one of the Most Pet-Friendly Cities TheStreet named Albuquerque one of the in 2019 (2019)
- Named one of WalletHub‘s Most Pet-Friendly Cities (2021)
- Named one of SmartAsset‘s Most Dog-Friendly Cities (2021)
- Listed by GOTHAM as a Dog-Friendly Travel Destination (2021)
It has endless restaurants with dog-welcoming outdoor seating, dog parks galore, and even a tramway that your furry friend can experience! Plus, Albuquerque is just all around a town that loves dogs. That being said, you might not know where to start. Even if a place is dog-friendly, it might not be plastered everywhere, or even in easy-to-find locations. Here at Sit Means Sit dog training, We’ve compiled a (relatively) short list of places where you and your dog can enjoy some shopping and relaxation.
Cottonwood Mall
10000 Coors Bypass NW, Albuquerque, NM, US, 87114
Cottonwood Mall is probably the coolest, most dog-friendly option in all of Albuquerque. It’s a massive shopping mall with 135 stores, most of which allow well-behaved, leashed dogs (Check each door for indications about whether or not your dog is welcome before you go in). Along with somewhat endless shopping, there are stations throughout the mall that allow your dog a much-needed potty break. As long as you clean up any mess your dog leaves behind, you’ll be good to go! And, if you need something a little more active, there’s a premium dog park inside the mall across from Taco Cabana. It has agility courses, as well as different areas based on dog size.
The Breaking Bad Store ABQ
2047 S Plaza St NW, Albuquerque, NM, US, 87104
Fans of Breaking Bad will be excited to hear that this delightful shopping area and museum is dog-friendly. Everything is inspired by the very popular TV show, including apparel, collectibles, toys, decor, and more. By “more” we do mean pet products such as jackets, bowls, and bandanas. Yes. It is just that cool. You and your dog can both enjoy the opportunity to explore Breaking Bad in person and like you never have before.
Clark’s Pet Emporium
4914 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110
The owners of Clark’s Pet Emporium are part of the Albuquerque family and it shows. They love dogs, they love our city, and they love you! They offer over 40 years of experience serving the community, as well as a wide range of pet supplies. You can find food, toys, gripping products, accessories, clothing, and so much more. You can spend quite a bit of time walking this store with your pooch! If you have any questions or just want some recommendations, ask the staff. They’re more than willing to help you in any way they can.
Antique Specialty Mall
4516 Central Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM, US, 87108
This gem might take the #1 spot from Cottonwood Mall (You’ll have to visit both and judge for yourself). It has all the normal joys of an antique mall and it’s pet-friendly! As long as your dog is leashed, you can pursue all 17,000 square feet of shopping heaven. Antiques, collectibles, and novelties all await their forever home, and you and your pup can select items together. The staff also loves to provide water bowls and treats to especially friendly doggos, so make sure everyone is on their best behavior!
Bookworks
4022 Rio Grande NW, Albuquerque, NM, US, 87107
It’s highly probably that your pup can’t read, but how fun is it that you can both browse the shelves, take in the sights and smells, and spend time together in a classic atmosphere? The selection of books at Bookworks is incredibly vast. It is so vast, in fact, that any bookworm and their dog will find something they can’t leave without. You can adventurously search for new reads, or you can go back to your comforting favorites at this independent, pet-friendly bookstore. You and Fido can now shop locally together!
Animal Humane New Mexico Thrift Shop
5341 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110
If you haven’t been to Animal Humane New Mexico Thrift Shop, it’s likely you’ve never seen anything like it. This is a thrift store dedicated to pet items! It’s a huge selection of secondhand items, and all the proceeds go to support a great cause that is probably something we’re all invested in. All profits go towards supporting their organization (Animal Humane New Mexico), which offers shelter to abandoned pets, adoption services, veterinary care to homeless pets, as well as veterinary care to low-income families. It’s a win on every side, as well as a fun place to shop.
Conclusion
Albuquerque is excited to welcome you and your dog(s) with all of their many dog-friendly shopping locations, activities, and restaurants. It’s never been easier to bond with your canine companion, so don’t wait to get started! Head out this evening for fun like you’ve never known before.
