Valentine’s Day Crafts You Can Do with Fido

With Valentine’s Day coming up, what better way to spend it than with your canine companion? There are plenty of adorable crafts you can do with your pooch on the love-filled day! Here’s a list of some fun crafts that involve your pup that will put your V-Day celebration into cuteness overload!

Paw Bouquet Painting

This painting craft is easy and pawtastic to decorate your house with!

Supplies: 

  • Canvas or paint paper
  • Non-toxic paint in multiple colors (for your flowers and stems so get creative!)
  • Foam brush(es)
  • Regular paint brushes
  • White non-toxic paint
  • Pencil & eraser
  • Ribbon & hot glue/gun (optional)

To Do:

  • Prime the canvas with a layer of white paint and allow to dry
  • Sketch out your “bouquet”, leaving space to where your dog’s paws will serve as the flowers.
  • Paint your dog’s paw in a single color and press onto canvas where the flowers should go. Clean and repeat as necessary.
  • Paint in the flower’s stems (vase optional) to complete the bouquet. Try adding in a painted ribbon tie around the stems or use ribbon and hot glue for a realistic version!

Recycled T-Shirt Rope Tie Toy

Use your old t-shirts as a base for a new dog toy, bonus points if they’re colorful!

Supplies:

  • Old t-shirt (multiple if you’re making more than 1 toy)
  • Fabric or sharp sheers

To Do:

  • Cut the t-shirt long ways from the bottom hem to the neckline. Cut in 3-4 inch wide strips.
  • Gather 3 t-shirt strips and tie them at the top gathering, securing a knot, with a separate strip.
  • Braid the strips together as you would hair.
  • When the braid nears the end, tie another strip like before to finish the toy.

V-Day Photoshoot

One of the best parts of Valentine’s Day is taking adorable pictures!

Supplies:

  • Camera/phone

Optional:

  • Props (like heart clothing, boa, hat, heart headband, themed tie, etc.)
  • Toys
  • Backdrop
  • Chalkboard sign

To Do: 

  • Use a backdrop or bedsheet to get a cute background for your pooch.
  • Set up any props, like a chalkboard sign that says “I am head over paws for you!”
  • Dress your pup up in your Valentine’s Day props/clothes.
  • Shoot some adorable photos!

Canine Collage or Journal Cover

If you love to scrapbook or just enjoy the nostalgic look of Valentine’s, try this crafty collage/cover art!

Supplies:

  • Scrapbook paper in various colors/patterns for decoration
  • Glue or Mod Podge
  • Scissors
  • Foam brush
  • Canvas panel or thick paper
  • Picture printouts of your dog (Use the pictures from the V-Day photoshoot from above!)

To Do:

  • Use your scrapbook paper to cut up fun shapes, try layering different patterns/colors to create a layering heart effect!
  • Cut out a picture(s) of your pooch.
  • Use your glue and foam brush to paste the pictures
  • Put a thin layer of Mod Podge on your final design to secure it from peeling.
  • Paste your design with glue onto the canvas or use it as cover art for something else like a journal!

DIY Heart Treats

Your pooch can’t indulge in any heart-shaped candies with you, but you can make them their own special treat to enjoy!

Supplies: 

  • Blender
  • Heart-shaped silicone mold
  • 1 cup of plain greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp of organic honey
  • ½ cup of blueberries
  • ½ cup of raspberries

To Do:

  • Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Pour mixture into silicone molds.
  • Freeze molds until solid and serve 1 at a time to your pooch!
