We took our rescue to Sit-Means-Sit because of being between a rock and a hard place. His reactivity while on walks was making it VERY STRESSFUL to take him out. We tried two other training facilities before Sit-Means-Sit, yet no success. With the help of the INCREDIBLE trainers Dominic, Morgan, Katie, and Cassie – Obi is on his way to being the confident pup we know he can be! We are looking forward to continued support and reactivity classes! We HIGHLY recommend this incredible place to learn about how to truly help your beloved pup!

Thank you everyone for creating a space that was judgment free so that we can give Obi a long happy life!

I can not recommend them enough! I have a rescued 9 year old German Shepard/ husky who was terrified of dogs and we never thought we could have a dog because of her fears. Sit means sit has made that possible for us. She went to the one week board and train and fell in love with the trainers. She gets so excited to see them and even gave one of the female trainers kisses in her face which never happens with females. We have done months of one on one and group classes and she has bloomed and become such a happy and confident dog. We were able to reach our big goal of bringing another dog home and she was perfect! Her training paid off and it showed. She acted like she knew our other dog her whole life in just the first day. Sit means sit is worth the price and their training does work as long as you put the effort in as well. They teach you to work with your dog and build a strong bond.

My husband and I adopted from ACCT fully aware that we would be taking on some behavioral issues that would need working on. We were not prepared for how disengaged, hyper, and difficult our dog would be a week into her adoption. After both of us were bit by her (broken skin and bruising) and attacking a neighborhood dog, we came to the conclusion that we would have to return her to ACCT. This would have been her third time being returned, and we knew that taking her back would have sealed her fate 🙁 . As a last ditch effort, we decided to give Sit Means Sit a try and we are all so thankful we did. We went for a consultation to see if there was any hope for our dog. They made us feel like we could work through her behavioral issues and that she wasn’t a lost cause. After just two full training days and three weeks of my husband and me using the lessons they taught us, we have a completely different relationship with our dog. If you had told us a month ago that she would simply acknowledge us on command, we wouldn’t have believed it. Not only does she focus on us, she runs through all of her commands (just about) flawlessly. Sal, Dom, and Alexa are WONDERFUL. They saved us and our dog and we are forever thankful for their work. We cannot recommend Sit Means Sit enough. Please, if you are feeling like you (and your pooch!) are at the end of your rope, call these guys! They are miracle workers!

We were nervous – how is it going to work, can this work with my bad boy, will it work or be too much for us. They answered our questions, trained our puppy, trained us, stand by their work. Shout out to Trainers Morgan, Karleigh, Cassie and Sean who worked with Oreo – you were professional, competent, effective, patient. SMS gave good value for the cost and we look forward to trying group lessons after completing the basic series.

Sit means sit was life changing for the relationship I have with my golden retriever, Bunny. I love her so much but before training she pulled on the leash, had a terrible recall and she was super excitable which made her difficult to control. She was always sweet as can be but just not a good listener. Our goals were to be able to take her places, walk her without being pulled and have her come when called. I’m happy to say we accomplished all of our goals and then some. Bunny understands what’s expected of her and she listens and everyone compliments what a great dog she is. We saw improvement in the first week! Not only that, Bunny really genuinely enjoyed going to the program and loved all the trainers! Sean, Kayleigh, Chloe, Alexa and Dominic were all incredible kind and helpful. They loved Bunny and I felt like they were non judgmental and very clear when they were showing me how to maintain the training and answer all my questions and concerns. This was our fourth obedience school and the only one that worked. If you want a dog who listens, enjoys the training and an overall better relationship with your dog, don’t bother going anywhere else. We got the diamond package and drove back and forth to Wilmington each session and it was beyond worth it.

Our dog Hudson was quite wild and stubborn when we began training here. Being 3.5 years old, he knew basic commands, but only performed them when he wanted to. He was also highly reactive with people coming onto our property, as well as dogs visiting us.The trainers are very knowledgeable in dog behavior, super kind, and extremely patient. They always were able to answer and demonstrate any questions we had. We also got training after each session, which was practiced at home. Hudson looks forward to working with us on his training, almost as much as he does going into the facility for his lessons!
We’ve just finished the 5 private sessions and there is a very noticeable improvement in Hudson’s behavior.
We’re excited to begin the group lessons soon. It will be very interesting to see if he can hold it together with other dogs and people in the same room. There will be a lot to distract him from the tasks at hand. But very important to further his training.

“Everyone there was friendly and knowledgeable on how to train our dog Diego and us. They made it simple enough that our 10-year-old was able to control Diego when needed on the first day. The best thing about Sit Means Sit is that our family can enjoy Diego all the time.”

Took my pup Tucker to Sit Means Sit Philly after he started showing aggression while on a lease. He’s a very friendly and sweet dog he just acts out when he’s on the lease and nothing me or my girlfriend did seemed to help. It was creating a hard experience to walk him anywhere and give a lot of anxiety to doing anything with him outside. We went to Sit Means Sit Philly and Jason completed turned our pup around. With hard work and a lot of practice I now have a pup that I feel comfortable with outside and feel that I am in control or any situation. I can’t think them enough in the month and a half we have been going it was really started to show in him the improvement that he has been working on and I feel much more confident going forward that I have a dog who I can be with outside and feel safe.

My experience at Sit Means Sit was awesome. From the initial free consultation with Salvatore, to follow-up scheduling with Stephanie on the phone they put my mind at ease that I had found the right training for my dog. I have a 4 y/o Pressa Canario named Nina. She is a large dog, over 100lbs. and was very reactive to other dogs. They are very professional and thorough during the process so that you know your dog is being treated with the utmost care while they are there. She was trained individually by Karleigh and Cassandra who are dog owners themselves and you can tell really love animals. When I picked her up in the afternoon she was always happy and ready to review what she learned that day. Most importantly, I saw immediate improvement in her behavior after the first lesson. She improved each week and is on her way to being a well trained dog that can be around other dogs and be calm and obedient. I would highly recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone looking for dog training services.

My Dog Cosmo, a 17 month old black lab weighing in at 118 lbs has come a long way at Sit means Sit. He used to be such a reactive dog. He has pulled me and knocked me down a few times. Now he pays attention to ME and not what’s around him. I’ve had different trainers throughout his sessions and I was upset at first that I didn’t have the same trainer. Let me tell you, each one is fantastic! From Domenic, Karleigh, and Sean. Each one is so caring, kind, and all so professional. Neighbors and his Bather have notice a difference in Cosmo’s behavior. This week was the first time that his bather said he was able to cut his nails without a fuss! He asked what I was doing at home and to continue doing it. I would highly recommend Sit means Sit. They are making my and my family’s life so much easier. The only mistake I have made was not starting sooner. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

Sal is an exceptional dog trainer who is truly passionate about helping you and your pet! He goes above and beyond to make sure that you gain full control and focus from your four legged friend.

We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Sal and would never hesitate to call him again if we need further assistance. 11/10 recommend Sit Means Sit Philadelphia!

Haley T.

We were so unbelievably thrilled with you folks. It worried us because the reviews were TOO good but believe me when I say it’s worth every penny and we couldn’t be happier with the results. We still go to group classes and Nugget can’t wait to walk in the door every time. Thank you guys so much. We thought nothing would change our best friend. Thanks so much!

“Today was our last of 3 days, daycare training, and I can’t speak highly enough of Dominic, Sal, and the rest of the staff at Sit Means Sit. We have a 13-month-old Cocker Spaniel and a 10-month-old Labradoodle who were both out of control – aggression, leash pulling, jumping, not listening, and constantly under our feet, to name a few issues. I feel like I have two different dogs now; life is much less stressful both around the house as well as being out for walks. I look forward to our home visits as well as group training to help further their training. This was money well spent.”

I usually never give reviews but I couldn’t be happier with the results I’ve gotten from taking my dog to SMS. I was at my breaking point with my now 5 month old golden retriever puppy, he was a nightmare on walks, would constantly bite my kids when playing, jump on everyone he seen etc etc to the point where I was thinking I was going to be forced to rehome him. I decided to do a free consultation with SMS & after sitting with Sal & seeing how well behaved all the other dogs were and how amazingly trained they were I was sold! My dogs trainer Cassandra was amazinggg! Now I can now peacefully go on walks with my dog without him pulling me around, he is no longer using my kids as chew toys & much more. I couldn’t thank or recommend the SMS team enough for all the hard work, definitely worth every penny!

I can’t even find the words to describe how happy and pleased I am with SMS! My (now 6mo old golden retriever) went through puppy classes then a five week program with these amazing trainers. They have built such confidence and obedience in my young puppy that I am so exited to watch grow into her adulthood. They truly listened to our needs and tailored a program just for her. The BEST investment I’ve ever made!

For anyone looking into training for your pup, Sit Means Sit is the best place and we Highly recommend it. They are so loving, dedicated, and can work with/train any dog. Words cannot begin to describe how grateful we are for Sit Means Sit Philadelphia.

We took our 6 month old female chocolate lab for an evaluation with Alexa and she made us feel so welcomed. She was so patient with our pup Violet, as at that time she was quite the attention barker. Alexa was so reassuring and encouraging; we knew Sit Means Sit was going to be perfect for our pup.

Fast forward to our weekly trainings with these four amazing trainers: Sean, Karleigh, and Morgan. Each individual trainer worked So extremely hard with Violet. Violet is a very smart girl, but an extremely stubborn pup. Each trainer showed the utmost patience and dedication to our sweet but stubborn little girl. With the e-collar, we were very quickly able to stop the incessant attention barking, which was one of our biggest problems. Violet really struggled with healing and looking at both us and the trainers without checking out constantly. Each week she would hold her attention and healing a little longer, but she kept being very stubborn with this command. By the 5th week of training Violet finally wasn’t checking out as much and would hold her attention a lot longer. This was a HUGE accomplishment! She picked up sitting, place, come, and recall beautifully. Our trainers also took extra time to help work with Violet getting in and out of our car, as she was extremely terrified of the car. Now Violet has no problem jumping in and out of the car. They went above and beyond working with Violet!

Before our training with Sit Means Sit we were just at our wits end. No matter how many videos we watched or changed up the training techniques, Violet was almost impossible to handle and would rarely listen. Sit Means Sit put in all the hard work, training her all day, and then during our private lessons they gave us the necessary tools to help both Violet and us to succeed. They created the best and healthiest training environment. We are forever grateful for all the hard work, love, and dedication that Sean, Karleigh and Morgan put into training our Violet. Words cannot begin to thank each one of you enough. Violet is a completely different dog, in the best way possible, today than when she first visited Sit Means Sit. We thank you all so much and cannot wait to continue with group training classes. God bless you all!

Benji and Pip have completed their 3 days of private training and are doing really well. They are walking very nicely, and keeping to a heel. We are managing to pass other dogs without the usual lunging and tugging, and hopefully I will have them doing this off leash soon. Also have a very good understanding of place, and am continuing to lengthen their time in place. This is great, since it is the only way I have been able to stop them barking at every single sound outside the house. The dogs obviously have both enjoyed the training and the trainers. Thanks Sit Means Sit!!

“Sal and crew do an amazing job. Ellie (my dog) had some behavioral issues, and I saw huge improvements after even spending one day with Sal. As with anything, you need to be dedicated to improving your dog on your own time as well, but Sit Means Sit does a tremendous job in helping to improve a dog’s attitude. I was very impressed with their team and their dedication to seeing you succeed. A+ job.”

“My dog is very high anxiety, and with only five days of training, he follows commands, doesn’t pull when on his leash, and has come out of training more relaxed and keeps amazing me more and more with each day since the training. Don’t hesitate to have the Sit Means Sit team help you with any of your dog’s needs, it has been almost night and day with my dog since training and only getting better. Thank You”

Chris S.

Sit means Sit is the real deal. They took our dog who could not focus on us and transformed him into a much more attentive dog who looks and listens. His breed is very high strung.

The dog owners do have to put in the homework to reinforce what they teach the dog. It’s a pleasure to do that with the solid groundwork they do. They take the time to explain after a day’s session. Each visit produced marked improvement.

His undesirable behavior is fading away and he pays attention to us. Great job.

Maui came to Sit Means Sit as a hyper puppy that loved to jump on people. He also pulled on the leash. As a golden puppy he was already nearing 70lbs which was a lot of weight to have yank on your arm from the leash. He was and still is a handful but with continued training and reinforcement since he’s graduated from Sit Means Sit, his energy level can be channeled to practicing commands. He doesn’t pull on the leash anymore. We’re getting to no leash training in a controlled environment and slowly graduating to simply commands while taking a walk. I believe some of it is puppy energy but he has progressed more with this program than another online program we used before. Our ultimate goal is to have an off leash companion and try for a good citizen certificate. As a nurse, we’d love to have Maui as a therapy dog for hospital patients and prior to this it just didn’t seem possible. While it still may take time, I think Maui will reach his goals as well as ours for him. Thanks SMS!

Sit Means Sit has been invaluable in our dog training experience. My boyfriend and I sought out their services for our energetic and very stubborn puppy. Although we’d watched many training videos and read training resources, we hadn’t seen much improvement with our pup. However, after starting testing with sit means sit, the change was drastic. Our puppy now can sustain attention, resist urges, respect boundaries, and has much less separation anxiety and overall crazy energy. Although not done our journey yet(group classes still to come), a big thank you to Morgan and Dom who provide much needed support and encouragement in this process. They made us feel empowered and in control, and answered every silly question we had. Thank you to all who have helped us along the way. Much appreciation from Zeus and family!

Choosing sit means sit was a great decision! The trainers were professional and personable as well, especially Alexa and Dominic. I felt comfortable and knew my dog was safe while being there. He has been going there for a few months now and the difference is incredible. We knew when we adopted our two year old dog he had some behavior issues especially around other dogs and nipping. When I picked him up after his first all day session I was blown away that he was sitting around other dogs and able to sit and look at me. He has made such great progress and I feel like the trainers enjoy seeing them succeed too. We look forward to taking him to the group classes! I would recommend SMS to family and friends in a heartbeat and so glad I chose them to help our dog succeed! I am so thankful for them and helping my dog become more confident.

Our super excited and ‘aggressively friendly’ chocolate lab is 3yrs old and we knew it was time to address her jumping (the puppy obedience ‘off’ never caught on and our hopes of growing out of it were lost!). We admit at first to feeling tentative, but I am so glad we went forward with the program. The change in her has been monumental — I am so thankful for this program and have nothing but amazing things to say about each and every trainer I interacted with. If you’re on the fence, this investment is SO worth it as long as you put in the work! Thank you to all the super dedicated dog-loving trainers, you’re the best!

Salvatore and his team at Sit Means Sit (SMS) Dog Training are instrumental in our family’s life. They helped us ensure our dog, Remi, got off on the right paw and continue to work with us as needed. Several months ago, we did a consultation with Sal and were so impressed by his dog, Stella’s demo. We immmediately knew SMS was who we wanted to partner with for our dog. We started puppy lessons to work on Remi’s confidence as she was a bit timid with getting her during the pandemic. Remi did the three day training program, and is great at heel, sit, place, recall, etc. We are so pleased about Remi’s demeanor with us and other creatures. Many thanks to Salvatore, Alexa, and Dominic at Sit Means Sit Dog Training!

We had an amazing experience with all of the trainers at Sit Means Sit. Throughout the weeks, our dog worked with Cassie, Morgan, Sean, and Dom. Each and every one of them were invested in our dogs progress, and we saw so much growth in him each week that went by. The first week, our dog would lay and refuse to walk. Fast forward 5 weeks later, and we are heeling past other dogs/distractions on the street and our dog has full confidence in himself. We would recommend this facility to all our family and friends! Thanks for giving our dog the training to be a happy, confident dog!

Ashley E.

Sit means sit dog training is the absolute best! They work with you and your dog to be the best that you both can be. I highly recommend going here for any type of dog training! Any questions you may have they have all the answers too. All of the trainers make you feel so welcome and love your animal just as much as you do. My puppy Luna loved to go to training classes and now will be in group classes. I can’t wait to get her started! Thank you so much to the trainers who take the time to understand your dog and how to help them be great!

I did the 5 week course with my almost two year old standard Golden doodle Milo, his issues were jumping, leash pulling, excessive barking and overall just needed to learn basic manners. The team and trainers at SMS made me feel like we were in good hands since day one! Milo was excited to go every morning, he learned a lot and i slowly noticed a change in his behavior. It’s not easy but everyone is super helpful and really want to see you succeed. They give you the tools you need to do so. You have to put in the work as well if you want to see results but it’s nice knowing that the skills you and your pup are learning are going to be lifelong. I would definitely recommend SMS to anyone that has the time to dedicate to training as well because it was definitely a shock to me just how involved i had to be but it’s been fun. Thanks guys and s/o to all of Milo’s trainers you guys are great!!

I rescued a Staffordshire Terrier with minimal dog and human socialization skills, and walking her was always a challenge. I was doing my best to help her obtain these skills but hit a point where we needed professional help. I signed Mary Gregory up at Sit Means Sit and we have been successfully working with Dom on skills for our walks (pulling, sit command, hold attention when other dogs approach). Dom has been outstanding, he is a great teacher, very patient not only with Mary Gregory, but also with me. She has come a long way in a short time, and we look forward to with working with Dom and the rest of the team at Sit means Sit.

We brought my reactive German Shepherd to work on obedience and her reactivity. While her reactivity is not “cured”, it is severely diminished. We are constantly working on this with her and have seen more improvement in the 3 weeks of going to one on one training at Sit Means Sit. Today was our evaluation for group classes. The trainer brought in another dog and my girl, who usually lunges, barks, and raises hackles, looked at the dog then back at me. She went right up to the trainer to greet, tail wagging. These are just two of the major improvements we have seen. She is excited to put her collar on in the morning and work on commands. She heels almost perfectly and walks are no longer a struggle. I have also noticed a closer bond with my dog. She follows me everywhere and usually in a heel with no command given. Would recommend this training class to anyone and everyone. We still have work to do, but Sit Means Sit has given me not only the confidence to do it, but the skills required to give my girl her confidence as well.

Amanda S.

The staff at sit means sit dog training are truly incredible. Alexa, Cassie, and Dominic specifically were so knowledgeable and attentive, I really enjoyed working with them. Every time my dog left their place I swear he learned so much and it was so exciting to see his progress.

Before this program walks were stressful with my 70 lb golden retriever. He was also very anxious in new environments and with certain situations. I now get to enjoy walks with my dog without him pulling me in every direction. I have also seen his confidence grow, his anxiety improve and I have the necessary tools to work with these issues. This program is truly a rewarding process for both you and your pup. I’m excited to see what the future holds for Dundee and know our bond and his success will only go up from here.!!

Yes – The money is worth it. It is an investment to build confidence in you and your dog. In addition, it actually WORKS. Don’t waste your time looking for other trainers, SMS is where you want to be.

Amanda R.

I am so happy I made the decision to bring my dog here. Yes, it was an investment…but if you divide the cost over the lifetime of the dog, it is very reasonable. I have (had!) a leash reactive dog. He lunged at every animal…walks and hikes were nearly impossible with him. I have taken him to 3 other local “group obedience classes” that just didn’t work (The continuous treat style was impractical; and the “positive-behavior-reinforcement-only approach was completely ineffective). I have always had dogs and felt I knew what I was doing, but I just couldn’t get my dog under control with the reactivity. With SMS, in just 2 months, I now have a dog that can walk calmly past another dog and doesn’t lunge after every squirrel. SMS philosophy and style makes sense. Thank you to the training team at SMS! Thank for training me too! :).

Alyssa J.

Before signing up for the Diamond training we were put in a tough spot of possibly having to re-home one of our fur babies. Thanks to the education and help from Sal, Dominic, Cassandra, Karleigh, and Sean we were able to help our two dogs get along and live together peacefully. Can’t wait to see the continued work in group classes!

Alicia G.

Great dog training facility and service. The staff are knowledgeable, personable, and patient (with furry friends and owners alike). They provide hands on training with great tips and clearly have a lot of experience and success with all kinds of dogs.

Ali W.

I don’t have enough words to say how thankful I am that I found Sit Means Sit and the help they have given to me and my dog. Prior to beginning training I was feeling completely lost with how to handle my anxious and fearful boy. The entire Sit Means Sit team has provided so many tools and support and I can finally say we are making progress. So happy to have found a training method that really is making a difference in our lives. Thank you!!!

Alexandra P.

I can’t recommend these guys enough. Salvatore, Alexa and the whole crew are just absolutely awesome. Our dog Peach is a brand new dog when it comes to commands and walks and everything. It’s completely worth every penny and I’d be more than happy to vouch for them to anybody who is unsure.

Alex S.

Incredible progress since day 1 of training! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and show true passion during training. Myself and Creed worked with Chloe, Sean, Karleigh, and Morgan with ease. 10/10 recommend for anyone
