Dog Friendly Hiking in Clermont

Dog-Friendly Hiking Trails Around Clermont Florida

Going on hikes with your furry friend is a great way to get in Fido’s daily exercise while also taking in some scenic views. Plus, nature trails allow for your pup to experience an abundance of new sights, sounds, and smells. So they’re not only receiving physical stimulation but mental stimulation as well! Here are some trails near Clermont to check out with your canine companion.

Lake Louisa Nature Trail

Type of Trail: 6.2 Miles, Out & Back

Since it’s an out & back trail, you can choose to walk the entire 6.2 miles of the Lake Louisa Nature Trail or go half as far as you and Fido want to walk and then turn back. On this trail, you’ll find beautiful Florida wildflowers that will give your furry friend some quality sniffing time. It should be noted, though, that this trail does not offer a lot of shade, so plenty of sunscreen is advised, even for Fido. Plus, don’t forget to bring plenty of water and a portable water bowl for when your canine companion gets parched.

South Lake Trail

Type of Trail: 25.1 Miles, Out & Back

While on South Lake Trail, you may run into other pet parents and their furry friends, as the trail is moderately trafficked, allowing for some excellent socialization opportunities for Fido. This trail is also nicely paved if you’re not a fan of gravel trails. This is another trail, though, that isn’t very shaded, so sunscreen and water should once again be significant priorities.

West Orange Trail via Killarney Station

Type of Trail: 21.3 miles, Point to Point

Another paved trail that could give your pooch opportunities for socialization is the West Orange Trail via Killarney Station as it is typically heavily trafficked with hikers, bikers, and dog walkers. There is some shade offered on this trail as it goes through residential areas. You’ll also find sources of water as well as clean restrooms in the parking lot.

Green Mountain Scenic Overlook

Type of Trail: 3.4 mile Loop

Green Mountain Scenic Overlook is a beautiful trail that shows some stunning views of the state of Florida. There are platforms that are fully accessible and provide great views. The park itself is extremely well kept and clean, offering a peaceful and quaint experience.

Get out and enjoy the beautiful natural wildlife of Florida with your canine companion, it’s not only good for Fido’s physical and mental health – but yours as well.

Although we did our best to ensure these trails were open at this time, there could be unexpected closures. We recommend you check with Florida Trail Association or Florida Hikes to ensure that the trail you choose is open before traveling there.
