Testimonials
Everyone was very nice and professional. Our large 95 lb puppy learned so much in five weeks. We look forward to continuing his training in group classes. We highly recommend Sit Means Sit Dog Training.
Exceeded expectations. Thank you!
Very good results. And excellent people. Expensive. For us, it was worth it.
This is our third dog in Sit Means Sit. They train the owner to be a better dog owner. We enjoy our dogs more after going thru their program. We love the complements about our dogs when we are out and about!
We can’t say enough about Sit Means Sit! We were prepared to get rid of our dog after having him only 2 months because of biting, jumping, and general bad behavior. We did try virtual training due to COVID and had no results. In a desperate move, I googled doggie boot camps and found SMS. To say we were skeptical is an understatement, but like I said, we were desperate. We sent Louie to the 11-day board and train hoping for the best. The video updates showed us huge improvements in his behavior after just days. When we picked him up we were beyond impressed. Louie was a completely new dog! It has been over a month and he is the dog we always hoped for. We can’t thank everyone at SMS enough for all they have done! It is a great program and totally worth the money! Highly recommend!
We have a hound who is very stubborn and was almost impossible for me to walk. He also would never come when called. We did the 7-day board and train and he is like a brand new dog. Walks beautifully, comes when called, and does all of the other things he was taught. I know some people are opposed to remote collar training but when done correctly it does not hurt the dog and is a positive experience. It did not alter his fun silly demeanor at all. I would totally recommend.
The trainers were great! Very professional, encouraged questions and always had the perfect answers. The follow up was fantastic, and we felt we got a tremendous value out of the experience. Our pup is a delight to live with instead of a handful now, they made a huge difference!
Great dog training organization top notch!
Fantastic! We adopted an 11mo old cattle dog who was aggressive and strong-willed. Tried training but we got stuck where she would only listen for treats. We took her for the 7-day overnight training and boarding as we thought it was the best value. Well, it was so worth it. Not cheap but if you want to have an off-leash dog ever, go to sit means sit. She’s a noticeably different dog now. I know we are all happier. It’s so much less stressful for everyone. I now regularly have her off-leash in our neighborhood without any concern about if she will listen and do as I say/ come back when I call her.
Having a puppy is a challenge in itself. Sit Means Sit is an amazing organization! Their trainers are highly qualified, extremely knowledgeable and are passionate about what they do! The ten days that we left our puppy with Sit Means Sit was an amazing experience. Anytime we called in to check on him they went above and beyond to give us details about his day and even sent us a YouTube video they put together about his progress! Truly a great experience! In addition, we had a trainer come out for a tune-up and we have group classes to look forward to. The trainers are great to work with. We are very satisfied! Thank you!
Finn and Frank both had excellent care and training during their recent stay while we were on vacation! Worth every penny to have attentive, behaved, respectful dogs. We are thankful for the guidance and tips. The staff is passionate, professional and hands-on. We will be back and highly recommend.
Really did a great job loving on our dog Beckett! Gave us many tools to stop a few bad behaviors. People were great to work with and loved our dog. Hard to leave him there but he was so well cared for and worth it. The interval movies they sent were so reassuring. Will definitely refer people.
The BEST decision we could’ve made for our rescue – she came home from her 15 day training more relaxed than we ever imagined ♥️ We could tell that she was loved and respected throughout her program!
My Bullpug was a complete spaz before taking him to S.M.S. He is like a different dog after 11 days with Sit Means Sit. He no longer jumps & nips. He listens & knows boundaries.
The staff and trainers are amazing! Our two dogs did the board and train program and the foundation they learned in 7 days is amazing. The trainers treated our dogs like their own. They were patient and explained everything when it came to helping my husband and I learn the techniques to continue working with our dogs while at home. Solid program!
All of the dog trainers at Sit Means Sit are knowledgeable and so very nice. Thanks for all that you do!
All of the dog trainers at Sit Means Sit are knowledgeable and so very nice. Thanks for all that you do!
Chewie, our 4 month old puppy, took puppy classes and learned so much over the 6 weeks about proper socialization, and we learned how to direct him. Since Chewie is double the size we expected (so far!) we decided to progress to e-collar training. WOW. Chewie learned quickly and the communication techniques help us let Chewie know what’s expected. Staff, especially Taylor, Chewie’s trainer, have been helpful, are knowledgeable, and willing to do whatever is best for your dog. We look forward to upcoming group classes to reinforce training and let Chewie see his doggie friends. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit!!
I would highly recommend Sit Means Sit. Before our two German Shepherds, Akela and Kovu, went to their facility they couldn’t even be in the same room together. After just 7 days at Sit Means Sit we can have them together in a common area. The trainers are helpful, informative, knowledgeable and willing to answer any and all questions. We are looking forward to the group lessons and appreciate all the help we’ve received thus far
They really helped us to understand our dogs behaviors and how to manage him. We have a big/strong dog who often got the best of us and now we can take him anywhere and he is wonderful.
We brought our almost 2-year-old Doberman to Sit means Sit. He was good at the basic commands, but it was only when he wanted to do them. He would not let anyone in our yard or house. He would growl at us when he didn’t want to be petted. We contacted a trainer that specialized in Dobermans he could not even come in the house, and recommended we put him down as he is “untrainable.” After 2 weeks of trying to decide what to do. We called several local known trainers only to hear that they could help us after paying for a phone consult and or demo. We found Sit means Sit online. We first noticed they would talk to us for free! We went in and after explaining to them what all the other trainers said they explained their theories on why Vito was behaving this way. Even though it was a lot of money for the 15-day program we couldn’t get over the LIFE LONG FREE help we will get from them that went along with the training. As dogs age they develop other habits that will need to be corrected. We decided to give it a try. I was so skeptical thinking there is no way this is gonna work. However, when we picked him up he was a COMPLETELY different dog. Yes, he still has a ways to go, but I can take him out and have people over now. It has only been 1 week since he has been home, and life is so much better. I owe it all to Sit means Sit. They are FANTASTIC!
We just finished our third week of personal training with our 5-month-old puppy. She has made amazing strides in the 3 weeks. The key is to continue working with your puppy throughout the week at home. I’m looking forward to group classes. I highly recommend Sit means Sit.
They did wonders with my overly active, hyper puppy. She is such a good girl now! No more jumping or pulling. Such a world of difference!
Our dog, Daisy, is such a well-behaved pup now, thanks to Sit Means Sit! I highly recommend them!
I have an Olde English Bulldogge that was 8 months old going through the lessons. We did the 3 private lessons and have 8 group lessons still to use. After just one week with our dog, we saw a huge improvement in his listening skills. We will also be booking a stay for him there while we go on vacation. We worked with Jim and absolutely loved how thorough he was and how well he worked with Brutus!
We really enjoyed our time with Sit Means Sit. Excellent instruction, detailed training drills, and an enjoyable atmosphere. We look forward to participating in future group training very soon! Highly recommend for dogs of all needs and breeds.
We did their day train program with our new 3 year old lab pointer mix who had no training whatsoever and was raised in a puppy mill (she wasn’t potty trained or anything). I was amazed at the difference after just the first day. She improved so quickly. The trainers also really helped with answering questions during the training process and helped us understand good tips that helped us carryover her newly learned skills at home. We’re super excited to start the group training classes now!
We recently worked with Taylor with our new Goldendoodle Lily. Taylor was such an amazing trainer; she is very knowledgeable and patient. This is our second family dog that has been trained with Sit Means Sit and I would 100% recommend them. We have had other family members who have also trained with SMS and we all feel the same. Training with them makes your dog so much more enjoyable.
Brought my Labrador wrangler there for Day Training and I couldn’t be any happier with how his training went. He was having a lot of issues before I brought him there that was making it extra tough to build that strong bond with him, now he’s a brand new dog and being around him makes me so happy and proud to see how far he has come. Thank you Sit Means Sit. I’ll be recommending you guys all the time!
My fiancé and I recently adopted a pit bull mix and she was hot and cold with other dogs. Michelle was our trainer for the personal lessons and within just two lessons our Penny was so much better! We have just started group classes and they’re great as well. This trainer was also the absolute best bang for our buck. What we are paying for 11 training sessions is equal to what some other highly rated trainers were going to charge us for 4 lessons. We will be getting another dog in the future as well and bringing them here to be trained.
I purchased a deaf Dalmatian puppy in January 2019, not knowing she was deaf. After my children and I fell madly in love with her, we discovered she could not hear. After seeing Sit Means Sit’s demonstration at the Cleveland Home and Garden Show, and then again at the Akron Home and Garden Show, I knew they were the help that we needed. We sent our sweet girl to there Copley location for a week and when we picked her up she was like a completely different dog! They have the most amazing staff. They are professional, kind, patient, and Penny had so much fun there! We just had our first in home lesson today and it was so helpful. The investment was more than I wanted to spend on the front side, but I can confidently say that I already know it was worth every cent. I highly recommend their services!
Atticus is a loving dog but had a resource guarding problem. Anything that hit the floor was his and would not give back. We bribed him with cheese, salami any snack to get the object back even a piece of paper. He would growl and we got bit too many times . He has anxiety issues and was herding our house. We could not leave anything out remotes blankets pillows phones. He tried to take so we could basically play his game get the object I get a treat. We were rewarding bad behavior. We had a few in house trainers but it just did not work with positive reinforcement. We were desperate to have a safe environment in our home. We had a few friends that went to Sit Means Sit and had great outcome. So we are overjoyed with the results and how great the collar works for him. Our home is such a better safer environment. Atticus is so awesome. He learned the go command when things get dropped and our fear is gone. He almost does not care anymore about objects now. We can leave pillows and blankets on furniture he does not bother them. We can put the remote down on table and he won’t bother it. Atticus is a new improved dog. Our family is so thankful for the program we went through and now he enjoys group classes.
I had two crazy pups that I signed up for the private & group training classes. We opt to have the private lessons at their facility for the discount but I’m so glad we did because they were able to learn so much better than they would’ve at home. There were people/dogs/other distractions & our dogs still listen so much better than they did before. After only 3 lessons they’re doing so much better & I’m so excited to continue working with them & seeing their progress. We couldn’t have done this without the amazing team at the Akron location. I would highly recommend them for any looking to train their dogs, regardless of their current ability. Taylor was calm & very personable. We really enjoyed working with her (& the pups loved her too) we’re excited for our group classes to see how they do.
Luna needed to learn to learn to come when asked as she thought everything was just a fun game. The training that Luna received was excellent. Luna comes and sits when asked. Our family can eat dinner in peace because Luna will sit in the kitchen and not try to jump up on the table. She will sit in her place and has much more control.
Apollo had been surrendered to us by his previous owners. He didn’t have any training, vet visits, or socializing with people or other animals. He is trying to be a good boy and is very loyal. He is protective of his new family but sometimes just likes to sit alone and rest. The training has helped him to focus more on simple commands and not get in a uncontrollable mode. Apollo and his sister Luna are getting along much better living in the same house. Apollo is about 3 and Luna is only a year so she has that puppy energy. The play time doesn’t get rough and is settling down after the board and training. Some peace in our house now:)
With two toddlers in the house, Gaston needed to learn boundaries and to be obedient. His play biting was out of control and didn’t understand why he couldn’t bite the kids’ hands if they wave them in front of him. On Gaston’s graduation day, he showed many signs of improvement. One thing we noticed right away was his play biting was completely gone. He also drops the kids toys on the first command; we used to have to wrestle the toys from his mouth. I can also unload the kids or the groceries and he stands nicely at the door patiently waiting. You cannot put a price on my peace of mind.

My son loves the group training with his doubledoodle puppy, Ruby Jilz. 5 stars from me!
We sent our dog Ozzy to Sit Means Sit in Copley. I was skeptical honestly about seeing improvement, and not because of the ability of the trainers, but I guess I doubted my dog’s ability to be what I feel is obedient. I am happy to report that from the second we saw him on his graduation day, I noticed right away that there had been positive change. It’s been 2 weeks since that day, and he has been getting better the more we work with him. He have had 1 at home session which was more than helpful, we got to see with the training the exact reaction we needed to in order to change his behavior. I can not say enough good things. Really great trainers, great facility and great follow up. Not a cut rate business. It is expensive, however you can’t put a price on training for both dog and owner. I know I needed the work and they did not make me or my wife feel stupid in any way. If you are considering doing this, go ahead, be realistic in what you expect and do all the follow up work. Training is a daily thing and if you have a problem pooch this is a much needed lifestyle change.
We brought Charleigh to Sit-Means-Sit after some research and recommendations from friends. We wanted her to sharpen up before we moved into a new house and started talking about having kids. She has always had tons of energy and was always very smart and learned quickly we just needed the right way to hone and focus her into something productive. After our first 3 lessons we noticed an immediate change in her, she was focused and relaxed, it was like she figured out how to win the game and was extremely relieved. We look forward to all the great things she is going to do, and we cannot thank the staff at SMS enough!
Definitely need to brag about Jake. I was originally nervous bringing Jake to Thanksgiving dinner. It’s just so hard to tell how they’re gonna act with all the food and people around and this was Jake’s first Thanksgiving. It’s one thing for me to be able to control Jake at my own home but bringing him out in public w/ new people, smells and factors changes everything! BUT he did so amazing!! He didn’t jump on a single person and sat next to me the entire time. You wouldn’t have ever known there was a dog of his size/age in the room. He got so many compliments and people were shocked that a 5 month old German Shepherd wasn’t running around terrorizing the house, begging, and attempting to steal food from children and off people’s plates. Sending Jake to Sit Means Sit Cleveland-Akron was the best thing I could’ve done and it’s such a great feeling to be able to relax and enjoy events/holidays and not have to leave my fur baby locked up at home. You can either let your dog control your life or take charge and be able to enjoy life together! It’s amazing what some obedience training will do for both of your lives.

We got Fred and Ethel when they were 3 months old from a foster family for and we did not want to separate them so we took them both. They are inseparable and always have to be with each other. They both were jumpers, excessive barkers, horrible to walk, and only wanted to listen when they wanted to. They both just came home from a week training program and are like night and day from before their stay. When we received their training video after a couple days there we could not believe that these were our dogs. They have come along way in the weeks time. We are going to continue with the group classes and working with them at home.
I had been trying to train my puppy on my own for months with no results! She had what we call “the puppy crazies” where she literally went crazy with a giant burst of energy! One week in training and she came home to be the perfect pup! She still had all her energy but now we had tools to be able to control and divert the energy! Excited to see what the group classes are going to be like that they provide. 12/10 would recommend!
Milli’s been home a week now and is doing great! Life is so much better with a well behaved dog! The kids enjoy being able to play with her with out the jumping a biting and my wife loves being able to take her out without getting her arm pulled off when another dog walks by! We have our first home visit Monday can’t wait for our first group class! Definitely one of the best investments I have ever made!
THANK YOU Sit Means Sit and especially Michelle for helping us understand Razzle’s feelings and actions and teaching us all how to communicate. We always knew there was a smart, loving pup in Razzle but we didn’t know how to help him control his impulses. Michelle was informative, inquisitive and patient with us [and our daughter too] as she taught us to work with Razzle. He is in group classes now and we are so proud of his progress. We would recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone with a dog.
We were recommended Sit Means Sit from our vet. When the trainer came out for the consultation it took about 3 minutes of work and Jemma was like a new dog. Focused and well behaved. We decided on the board and train because Jemma was to much for me to handle and did not want to listen to any commands. We are now in group lessons working on focus control and trying to not get distracted. Chelsea and Michelle have been amazing and always answer every question. Their guidance has been life changing. Looking forward to continue the work and help Jemma stay amazing!
Tremendous experience training my new puppy. the entire team, from the front office to the trainers, were attentive, cordial, and well organized. the training they provided has been amazing and we literally saw instant results.
I would definitely recommend Sit means Sit. My dog stayed for a board and train program. She came back a much calmer and well behaved dog. Everyone there was super nice and explained everything to me before and after. I felt very comfortable leaving Shelby there for the week and also got an awesome video of her training.
Before I took my FOUR dogs to SMS, I went looked at their reviews. Not all were great, which is expected, but something I respect is that even the negative reviews were responded to by the owner. So here is my take: If you have a bad experience there, it’s probably on you. I can’t say that as a definite but their system works but it’s on YOU to make sure when you go home with your pet that you continue to follow the same instructions for many weeks to come. That was the part I was more worried about but after a day or two of doing it over and over, it became second nature and this week, I had four friends over at different times and every one of them said “Where are your dogs?” They were so quiet and obedient which was a night and day difference to before. I used to call them “psychopaths” for how much they barked and went nuts when people came over. Now they are NOT perfect but they have only been home for a month and we constantly work on it. The great thing is, since they have been home, SMS has been out twice for over 1.5 hours each time just to check up and answer questions and fine tune the things I may have forgotten, and they LOVE doing it. I will never get a dog in the future without taking them to SMS early on in their life with me.
My 90lb chocolate lab had severe reactivity when it came to strangers. I could only walk him at night or when it was storming/snowing to avoid people. I previously tried clicker training with my lab, with only slight improvements. I wanted him to be able to enjoy going to the park and taking walks without being afraid of everything and scaring people with his aggressive sounding barking. Within the first three sessions of training and practice at home, I have been able to walk him in daylight without my previous fears about his behavior. I am so grateful to Kevin, Michelle, and Sal for helping me and my lab begin this journey successfully.
The training team has laid the foundation for a dog who I thought I would never be able to train…
We’re already so pleased with the progress Lindy made just from 7 days of board and train! We’re excited to get started on our group classses and make even more progress.
My fiancé and I recently just had our German Shepherd, Piper, graduate from Sit Means Sit-Akron/Cleveland! We had attempted everything we could think of trying to get Piper to listen to us and communicate effectively, nothing seemed to be working. She was a very submissive dog when we rescued her so we were not sure what approach to take with her. We finally were referred to Sit Means Sit and it was a complete life changer. We had Jim as our trainer primarily for our classes. He was fantastic! He had a vast knowledge of the training and was full of tips/tricks for at home learning. They completely built up her confidence and she is no longer the very submissive dog we first had. I would definitely recommend this training program!
I took Scarlett here for the day train program to help with her high energy, jumping and barking. I am so pleased with how far she has come in such a short period of time. We worked with Chelsea who was wonderful, she was patient with us and answered all of our questions. I am looking forward to Scarlett’s follow-up lesson and the group classes. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit! Everyone has been wonderful throughout the process!
Our year old dog Guinness could not have been any sweeter but he was running our house. It seemed as though we were constantly yelling at him and he enjoyed the negative attention. We knew we needed to do something to break the cycle and give him an opportunity to become a good dog. He did a boarding and training program and what a difference it has made! Although we are still developing his skills, he is an entirely different dog. He sits quietly with us, lays politely beside the dinner table, and is so much more affectionate. Instead of yelling at him, we now have commands he understands and usually a reminder is all he needs to comply. He now receives positive attention. Life for all of us (and Guinness) is so much better!!! Thank you Sit Means Sit!
We recently enrolled our beloved canine family member in the Sit Means Sit board and train program, and we are absolutely amazed at the results!! I knew I would never find the time to train our sweet girl properly, and I have a deep interest in getting her certified to be a therapy dog. When we brought her home, the training we received to continue her progress was more than sufficient to maintain and improve all of the wonderful obedience skills she learned during her program. Our dog is all of 17 months old, and her listening skills are amazing. We are so proud to take her places and enjoy her well-mannered demeanor. The 20 day program included life-time group and private lesson follow – what more could you ask for? We highly recommend this wonderful group of professional trainers!
I took my almost 2 year old English Bulldog, Eddie, to Sit Means Sit for one week of sleep-over obedience training to help him with his ADHD issues. Like most toddlers, he was formerly easily distracted and didn’t always listen like he should. And like a typical Brit, he could be stubborn. No more. After a week with the miracle workers at Sit Means Sit, he’s like a new dog. But he’s no mind-numbed robot, he’s my same dog, just a better version of himself. He simply has an understanding now of what recognition-earning behavior looks like and how to more consistently respond to communication inputs and commands. I recommend SMS without hesitation. The people are fantastic and caring individuals. The facilities are top notch. And most importantly, the training works in a way that when you as the owner leave, it lasts. It’s an investment, but worth every penny. Oh, and for those who believe the SMS method is about shocking dogs into submission, I’m sorry, you’re misinformed. The SMS training collars are a means of communicating with your dog, of alerting him that it’s time to do something different. Those commands come with your voice or body language, not pain. The collar is simply a way of saying, “Hey, Eddie, I need your attention, now.” And the collar doesn’t hurt. The trainer activated Eddie’s in the palm of my hand. It did get my attention. But it did not hurt. Facts matter.
We had a 10 month old Corgi (Cecil) that did not listen, always jumping, always barking, and had some resource guarding issues. Thanks to 3 private sessions with Kevin and Sit Means Sit, all of those issues have been fixed. We still have 8 group lessons and Cecil & family are very excited to train and meet new dogs.
First, I’d like to describe the situation I was dealing with before I contacted Sit Means Sit.
My dog (Meeka), about 6 years old, had severe behavioral issues. We had tried in home training before, I would put her on our treadmill every day for 30+ mins, we tried automatic bark collars and manual electric collars. She was on 6 different medicines in the last year to control her behavior/anxiety.
The past few months, Meeka has gotten progressively worse, especially with my 3 year old. She actually bit her and I scheduled to have her put down. The night before, my husband wanted to give a board and train program a chance. That’s when I contacted Sit Means Sit and we did the 10 day board and train program.
She’s so much calmer now, way easier to control, and actually listens to us. Our home is peaceful and we can have visitors over without anxiety. We will still continue to work with her every day, but the improvement I’ve seen is beyond what I ever thought would happen.
I’m so happy we found you guys!! You essentially saved our dog’s life. Thank you!!
So excited to get started, I just went to our demo with our 9 month old olde english bulldog puppy & loved seeing the dogs & what the could do. I’m so impressed & hoping to eventually do advanced obedience.
I was very surprised how well my 9yr old dog has done!
Sit means Sit is an awesome dog training program. Every person that we have dealt with at the facility has been professional, nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Every person I have spoken to that has had their dog there, loves the program and has done wonders for the dog and their pet’s training. In two words “it works.” We did the “boot camp” last summer because our labradoodle was nipping people coming over to the house as well as not “coming” when he was called. My dog is very obedient now and it’s been 9 months! Amazing. Love the program and the trainers. I can’t say enough. If you want an honest review, come to a Saturday morning group class and ask any one of the participants what they think. Trust me, you’ll walk away wanting to bring your pet in for training.
We took Bambam to Sit Means Sit for some extra training with his kennel anxiety, barking, and general obedience. It was hard to drop Bambam off, as he hasn’t been away from me since he was 8 weeks old. But when we picked him back up today, he is a completely different pup! He walks by my side, doesn’t pull, listens to commands and it’s not hard at all to use the e-collar. Some distractions at home still get to him, but it will just take time. Overall, he is doing so good now!
We cannot be more pleased with the people and process of Sit Means Sit. They have done everything they said they would and kept us informed by sharing videos during the stay at “summer camp”. We got them home yesterday and took them for walks and the difference is night and day. they both “heeled” perfectly and other people, dogs or cars did not distract them. We highly suggest you call and ask for an in-home evaluation and see if they can help you to truly enjoy your dog rather than just having a dog.
Sit Means Sit is absolutely, without reservation, the best, and most PET FRIENDLY dog training option we’ve ever seen, and we’ve had over 20 dogs in our lifetime – not all went through training but some did, and none of them made as dramatic improvement as our current dog, Sequel, a 10-month old Saint Bernard. She enjoys the sessions like a kid on a playground, and it’s obvious she adores Kevin, Jenny and all the staff members. Dogs don’t lie and Sit Means Sit definitely gets five starts from her too. We did have initial doubts about using the training collar but after holding it in our hands and assuring ourselves it was OK for our pup, and getting confirmation from our vet, we signed up and couldn’t be happier with the progress we’ve seen.
We had our 4 month old golden retriever puppy trained by Sit Means Sit. We did a 15 day board and train back in November. We continue to participate in the weekly group classes. We have nothing but good things to say about the staff and the training methods. Our puppy went in to the board and train as an untrained bundle of energy. She emerged as a much calmer, much more obedient puppy. The weekly group classes continue to reinforce the basics she learned during her 15 day stay. She is growing into a well trained puppy.
The professionals here know what they are doing. Our dog is now well mannered when he is supposed to be. Still loves to run and just be a dog but is able to bring it in and be calm when we want him to be.
They were great. We had our one dog there for 15 days and the other 10. They both came home well behaved and happier. The trainers were happy to answer any of our questions and calmed our anxieties. I would recommend them to anyone who has a dog with behavioral issues.
We had Belle for 15 months. As any puppy, she had her time being house broken, she was not that difficult. Barking at strangers outside and especially inside the house when we had people come over she would not stop. We saw an add in the newspaper for dog training in Mentor we signed up. She was doing sit, stay, and down well. Then one evening we met Mike and his dog. His dogs attention was on him even with other dog’s in his area. He gave us his card and we signed up to have Mike assist us in training Belle. My wife and I are very happy Belle is a changed dog. When I we start our morning she is excited. Belle is saying, “take me for a walk or train me”. We completed our training last night and we are very satisfied.
Paul, wow…I can’t believe it myself. We had Gina’s 50th birthday party last night…and the girls were INCREDIBLE!!!! There were about 35 people here, and there was NO barking, jumping, annoying, or overly
enthusiastic antics from Addi or Tempe. EVERYONE commented on how well behaved they were…and those who knew them prior to Sit Means Sit training, were absolutely AMAZED at the incredible transformation!!! We gave out 2 of your cards…and I’m sure there will be more requests for you contact information. We could not be happier with the results of training with you and Roxie (who is seriously welcome any time for a play date). Thank you so much !!! On a rating scale of 1 to 10….you and Roxie get a million!!! You are welcome to use us as examples of VERY SATISFIED customers. Take care and thanx a million!!
Mike and Paul,First and foremost – thank you for the training you provided Reese….and me! I must admit, I certainly had my doubts going into this whole thing, but I also knew that I was at my wits end and something had to give. I contacted several different trainers, all with varying programs and methodologies. I wanted a trainer and program that would love and care for my puppy Reese as much as I do. Additionally, I wanted a trainer that was reputable, safe, responsive, and that matched our energy – but one that understood my challenges and listened to my “goals”. After talking to several different trainers and what they had to offer, I made my decision – Sit Means Sit all the way!
Mike came to my house to do a demo and explained how your training program works, the collar, and took the time to answer any questions that I had. He was more than informed and experienced, but came with an energy and obvious love for what he does and the Sit Means Sit program. I really appreciated that! Within a few weeks, I was dropping Reese off for her one week board-and-train. I remember thinking when I was leaving that Sit Means Sit may have just met their match….until a week later when Mike brought her home and showed me just how wrong I was! She was AWESOME!!
Since it was now my turn to be trained, Mike took the time to go through everything Reese learned, her commands, and how she did at training. He walked me through using the collar and spent time in practice to help me get used to it as well. Mike returned for a second follow-up visit a week later to see how we both progressed and even had us outside in my front yard with an UNLEASHED REESE to play with the one and only super Zeus!! I still can’t believe it! Reese is doing so well on her walks – she heels like an angel!!
Reese’s puppy spunk and energy didn’t disappear with the training…they just got so much better and more enjoyable! We’re having a blast and I’m certain that my other dog Sam is just as appreciative as well. Mike – your in-home training support and patience was outstanding and so much fun!!
Thank you Mike, Paul, and everyone at Sit Means Sit – you guys rock!!
Paul, I have done a lot of research on different companies, read numerous books, watched numerous videos and even went to different businesses for information. I was referred to Sit Means Sit by a friend who talked very highly of them and their methods. I located Paul Pollock who is about 2 hours away from me and was a little hesitant to drive two hours for a demo. After watching some of the videos on sitmeanssit.com and reading more about the company I decided that it would definitely be worth the drive to check him out. After meeting with Paul I immediately signed up and got my dog trained. I was so impressed and pleased with the outcome of the training and how quickly those results came that I then checked into opening a Sit Means Sit location in my area. I am now pleased and proud to say Sit Means Sit of Northwest Ohio will be opening in May of 2009. I definitely recommend everyone that owns a dog and is thinking about training to check out the videos and contact Paul for a free demo.
Paul, just wanted to send you a quick note of thanks. As you know, I was somewhat skeptical about the Sit Means Sit training method, but after doing my homework and viewing the web site I decided that this might be just the type of training Voxx and I needed. I was correct. My main objective with the remote collar was to make sure I used it correctly from the start. Having trained dogs in the past I know it doesn’t take much to take the drive out of a dog if the training is done incorrectly.
Having had two of our three individual lessons, I am very pleased with the results we have had so far. As you know I am showing Voxx in AKC obedience trials. In his first trial Voxx was High Scoring Dog in Trial with a score of 189 out of 200. To say the least we were very pleased. Our second trial we did well also and now only need one more qualifying trial to get Voxx’s CD title, (Companion Dog).
I was very impressed with your training methods. In my opinion, having worked with several different trainers, you have the right personality for training dogs, the first of which is patience. You did a great job of demonstrating your techniques with Jammer and your soft tone of voice was appreciated as it seems that many trainers think that dogs only understand when you yell.
I look forward to our third individual lesson and to the group lessons as we move forward. Thanks again for your help and good luck to you in the future.Don L
My dog guide Edge and I were matched by one of the most respected dog guide schools for the blind. He is a wonderful guide and saved me from getting hit by a taxi while in training by responding exactly as he was taught. His off-duty behavior, however, was something else entirely. When our trainers said it was time to let the dogs off-leash in our dorm rooms, Edge ran, grabbed a braille information guide off the desk, jumped over the bed and hid underneath it, completely destroying the papers while I tried to reach him. The instructors told me I needed to be more firm with my corrections.
He went on to other misbehaviors but snatching papers was his specialty. This was a real problem since I work in an office and a copier/FAX machine was directly behind my desk. It is no longer there.
He tried to devour all kinds of paper, including paper towels and napkins. Once he even took a napkin off someone’s lap while we were following a hostess to our table in a restaurant. It was humiliating! He began taking the cookies out of the hands of small children at church and I was so afraid he’d sever a finger. Still the dog school told me that I should be able to break him of these bad habits by being stronger with my corrections. He is a very strong dog and moves so quickly. Even the sighted people at church gatherings never saw any hint that he was going for their plates until they realized he’d jumped up and taken their food.
I knew something had to be done when we were out in the backyard and he lunged toward children having a snowball fight in a nearby yard. It all happened so fast and I ended up on the ground (for the first time) with a shoulder injury.Everyone was giving me “helpful” advice on how I should work with him but he was just too strong and fast for me to get control of. One of my co-workers brought me a brochure from Sit Means Sit. While the dog school actively discourages us from working with any trainer not their own, I was truly desperate. I decided to give Sit Means Sit a chance before bowing to what I thought was inevitable and returning Edge to the school after trying for almost nine months to get him to settle into our home.
The training demonstration was amazing! I could tell Edge was confused. It was the first time since we came home from training that he was stopped, mid-lunge, from going after something he was totally focused upon. When the trainer said he could help Edge become an obedient dog in just three lessons, I doubted his sanity but, as I stated, we were desperate.
Now, after our three lessons, Edge is a well-behaved dog. There are still occasional misbehaviors but he responds to corrections. I am no longer afraid to take him out in public and my home is much more peaceful.
Dear Paul–I am so pleased we decided to go with Sit Means Sit to train our new standard Poodle. I have trained other dogs but used mainly my voice for communication, since I am having trouble with my voice this has proved a wonderful way to train. Molly has progressed faster than any other dog I’ve had and is eager to have her collar put on in the morning. She has only been in training for about six weeks but I took her to a soccer game last weekend and she was beautifully behaved and loved all the hugs and kisses from the adults and children. Any future dogs I have will definately be trained with Sit Means Sit.
Harley is a 100lb, 3 year old black lab with an endless supply of energy. No matter how many times I played fetch or how many miles I would walk him a day, Harley would always be ready for trouble. He would tear open the trash and play so rough it would actually hurt sometimes. Being such a big dog, he had a lot of dominance issues and would never listen to any command we gave him. My wife and I actually contemplated giving him up simply because he was too much for us to deal with. Just three classes with Paul and everything had changed! We worked with Harely and now he is the perfect dog! We take him to all of our family functions and he is so well behaved. Sit Means Sit is simply amazing! It is by far the best decsion we could have made!
Just thought I’d drop you a line and tell you how pleased I am with the training so far. I have had two other Rotts that have gone through the traditional obedience training and did very well. Toby however did not take to those methods of correction and was starting to rebel and become aggressive that’s when I called you. That was the best decision I could have made for him. Since we started our training with you I have seen a big change in his attitude and not once has he showed any signs of aggression. I know he is going to have to unlearned and then relearn using your techniques but he’s coming along, I only wish I would’ve started him off with you from the start. Watching you work with him and seeing how he responds to your calm demeanor makes me want to work with him all that more because I can see the potential he has. I am really looking forward to the group classes and taking Toby to new stages of his development.
Thank you for all your help,
Paul, I rarely will write to comment on a product or service, but I wanted to express my thanks for your help with training Cady the past 3 weeks. I’m sorry to make this a long story, but I wanted to explain how I came to my careful decision about SitMeansSit.
Cady is 1-1/2 years old and, as you know a Chow adopted from the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter in Independence. The first day as I was bringing her home I stopped to walk her. She wiggled her head and shoulders and slipped the harness. She took off running north and I didn’t see her for 3 weeks. There is much more to this story, but the primary point is that Cady would not “come”. She didn’t know me, but she REALLY wasn’t going to come. After much, much police, animal warden and local business help, she finally ended up going into a Havahart humane trap. Since I got her back, I haven’t let her outdoors without a very secure leash.
I looked and researched dog training, read the Idiots Guide to Dog Training (appropriate, I must say), dog obedience classes and collars, leashes, crates, food and so on. Cady is my very first dog. She is shy and worried and I am very inexperienced in the world of dogs.I saw you and Roxy in the Fairlawn Fourth of July Parade, and Roxy was sitting on top of the car!! It was very impressive. I started reading about SMS, other E-collars and training. Because of the shelter and who knows what kind of previous life for Cady, I wanted to train her, mostly to “come”, but all the other basic things that well trained dogs can do. I met with you, and was impressed at the amount of time you spent explaining the program and I met Roxy and Jammer. Even then, I wanted to learn more before commiting to any kind of program. I had already put down a deposit on Canine University for Dog Obedience I, and was pretty sure that I was going to stick with my decision. The very, very last thing I wanted was any kind of trauma to Cady. She already ducks her head when petted, and is fearful. I didn’t want to do anything that might make her life worse or traumatic.
I asked you for references, and you supplied me with 5 names. I called 4 of them and what struck me most was when I said “hello” and explained who I was, they sounded suspicious. But when I said that Paul Pollock from SitMeansSit had given me their name as a reference, I could hear them brighten up immediately! It was really quite something! I realize that you could have given me a list of “ringers”, but these were genuinely happy people. An older woman, a couple, an older man, a woman – and the story was the same with everyone! After one lesson, they couldn’t believe the difference, how good their dogs were, how impressed they were with your peaceful personality and your patience. The hardest thing about the phone calls were getting the people to end the conversations!
I did the math – the cost of the SMS program, vs the cost of each 6 week class for Household Obedience I, followed by Household Obedience II, followed by Leash Walking, Good Citizen Training, etc., the 50 mile round trip to the school (gas was over $4 a gallon at this time) and the driving time alone for each 6 week class made it also financially a better idea to stay put in Fairlawn.
I thought, “yeah, yeah… 3 weeks… I’ll believe it when I see it…” So I signed up and asked for a refund from the other class.
The first class, I explained that my two biggest concerns were “come” for obvious reasons, and to get Cady to stop pulling me down the stairs (40 of them!) because it was dangerous for both of us. He met me at my home, showed me how to fit the collar, and Cady responded so well! The first week, she understood “come” and “wait” as we went down the stairs. I’m lucky because she doesn’t bark a lot, or eat poop or other really undesirable acts, but she really, really was in need of the basics. You followed along a normal course of training, and the second week I was just amazed that Cady was so willing to follow. You were so willing to sit and answer questions that I had through the week, which I appreciated very much. The training of each week is to much even for my long story, but I am a believer. Three weeks later, you actually dropped her leash on purpose OUTSIDE and she stayed put. I on the other hand, almost had a heart attack!
I guess that the difference in the training besides the collar is the one-one-one, personalized training at my house and office, teaching the basics and learning the program. I equated it to when I learned to type. I learned the basic keystrokes in about a month, and the rest of keyboarding was repetition and practice. The biggest problem Cady had with the program … was ME. MY inconsistency and MY stumbling for the right word at the right time. MY learning how to have Cady on a leash, have my keys out, give a command, use the remote, carry my tote bag and get down the stairs is taking some coordination on my part too. I think once I have the confidence to say what I mean, Cady will be a huge success!
In closing, I think that I made an informed and thorough decision in choosing the program, checking references and doing the math – all culminating in a successful, positive outcome with YOU, Paul, and the SitMeansSit training program. Thank you so much! I am now looking forward to the Saturday group class experiences to help socializing Cady further and meet other dog owners.
Mike, Ron and I just wanted to thank you for all the time spent with Buddy and Sage.
It is such a pleasure not to have to raise our voices to get them to Listen! Ron and I are very impressed on the Sit Means Sit system. We are looking forward to group class and this summer when we take them with us camping. I love to show them off. WE would recommend Sit Means Sit to everone. Mike, you are a great trainer and awesome with the dogs. You have the confidence in yourself and the system that is needed to prove that it works. It was a pleasure working with you!
Buddy and Sage say hi! and thanks a Bunch.
Hi Paul, this is just so cool. Tod & I got the biggest kick seeing our little girl Asia on video. We wanted to thank you too for our training sessions. I feel that we now can actually let Asia off her leash & not have to worry about her running away & she will actually come back to us when called. We appreciate all of your guidance and also for sharing Roxie & Simba with us, they are great animals. I would recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone who is having disciplinary problems with their pets. This program truly works. Asia is just another example of it.
Thanks again, Paul.
Our thanks to Mike Joseph, who helped us work with our best little buddies, Jake and Ginger. They were both very scared of people, but after a few weeks of work with Sit Means Sit, the structure, praise, and techniques to manage their behavior are beginning to really make a difference. Aside from them listening to us, behaving better on walks and generally behaving better, they are also less afraid of people and more trusting. Thanks Mike!”
Paul, I want to thank you over and over for making Ben the dog we wanted. Ben is a Lhasa Apso weighting about 18 lbs. In just the 3 lessons, I can’t believe the difference. We can even take him in the front yard without a leash. (My husband was very sceptical about that) Tonight he took Ben out front with no leash and he did what he was suppose to. I wish I would have known about Sit Means Sit before instead of wasting money on other classes that did no good. This was well worth the money!
P.S. Ben has even turned into a lap dog!
We adopted Baby, a 3.5lb yorkie poo, last December. For the entire first month she did nothing but sit and shake. She never looked at us in the eyes. Even if you lifted her head she would close her eyes. She had a bladder full of stones and was urinating blood for a month until the vet figured out what the problem was. Her teeth were brown and badly needed cleaned. She had 3 baby teeth that needed pulled. She was over three years old and had never been spayed. She also had never been out of the house or walked on a leash. With $1200 of surgery and a new feeling of health if wasn’t long until she quickly learned that freedom was exciting.
She learned that she could fit underneath the fence and chase the squirrels in numerous neighbors yards. After many exciting romps around the neighborhood chasing her, we decided we needed to do something. Friends and family all had their opinions which included electric fences and chains in the back yard. We knew we needed something different. We adopted Mi Piccollini Diamonte Regazzo “Gazo”, a little 5 lb maltese 2 years ago. Because Gazo was such a small maltese, he was used as a breeder. When he didn’t produce like the breeder wanted, he was kept in a small carrier that was barely big enough for him to turn around in. He was not allowed outside most of the time if the grass was wet or dirty. He was labeled as “hyper” and “crazy”. Gazo trained quickly to sit, stay, roll over, shake, play dead, dance, walk on his hind legs, and lay down. He only got too excited and barked excessively when he was on leash around other dogs. We worked with Gazo for over a year and he still could not get over the aggresson on leash around other dogs.
Sit Means Sit not only changed our dog’s lives but changed our lives. Baby has become so confident and relaxed with the training. She loves going for walks now and is not fearful of everything. She will come now if she is afraid and she has not run under the fence since the first day we started with the collar. We now don’t have to worry about her running away or getting hit by a car. Gazo has also turned into a different dog. His excessive barking has stopped. He doesn’t pull on his leash anymore or run towards another dog unless we give him the ok. He still gets a little too excited but is getting calmer all the time. Gazo has been doing great with the group training and gets very happy when we pull into the parking lot for “group therapy”. He loves it.
Not only has this training changed our lives but it just recently saved our dogs lives. Recently we were at a park where we were working on placing and sitting on the bleachers. A locally known aggressive dog slowly approached us off leash with the owner far behind. We called the dogs to us and had them sit at our feet. Within seconds the dog attacked both Baby and Gazo. Baby ran off but we were able to recall her and she came right back so we could pick her up. Both Baby and Gazo were both bitten a few times but had no serious physical injuries, only emotional. Had it not been for the SMS training, Baby and/or Gazo probably would have been killed.
Thank you SMS for saving our dogs and sanity. Keep up the great work!!!
I just wanted to shoot you a quick note to tell you how Rosie’s collar and training may have saved her life. Of course, the inevitable happened. As I feared, someone (my husband) left the back door open while he was carrying boxes in and out. No one knew Rosie went out the door, so we don’t know how long or how far she went, but I happened to look out the front window and caught a glance of her tail go past the bush. Now, the old Rosie would have “high tailed” it out of here as soon as she got out the door. Not knowing if or when she would have come back, especially with the speed limit out here at 55 mph. I quick grabbed the remote and opened the front door. I only had to call her once and she came right in like nothing ever happened. Little did she know, we were all freakin’ out on the inside!
Wow Just finished my three hours with three dogs and I can’t believe the transformation. I now can have company without barking or any annoying jumping. I have a 2 year old doberman, a 5 year old border collie mix and a 9 month old airedale. I would recommend this program for all dog owners. Program gives you the tools for a perfect companion.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank Mike for all his help and to say what a fantastic job he did with Jäger. He’s an outstanding trainer who obviously loves what he does. I had tried group classes with Jäger before, as well as trying to train him on my own, but with very limited results. Sure, he would listen, but only when there wasn’t something more interesting going on. But Jäger took to Mike immediately and the transformation, even after the first lesson, was incredible. He actually pays attention to me now, even around distractions. We’re looking forward to attending group lessons and I know Jäger’s going to keep improving. I’ve always said he was a good, and smart, dog at heart, but now I can actually prove it. I would recommend Mike and Sit Means Sit to anyone looking for dog training that actually gets results.
My family just completed training for our Miniature Schnauzer, Cookie, with Mike Joseph.
Mike is OUTSTANDING!!! Our puppy began her transformation almost immediately. He is an EXCELLENT trainer. Cookie is a “new” dog because of him. She is more calm and listens. We always looked forward to our training session with Mike. He is pleasant, respectful, open and just all around a wonderful person! We will truly miss him coming over.
Mike, thank you for all your knowledge and you are always welcome in our home. Feel free to utilize us as a reference. Anyone who welcomes Mike into their home to train their dog(s) is very lucky!!We will miss you.
After multiple failed dog training attempts, Sit Means Sit really came through! I feel like I have a new dog!! Chris is Great!
We appreciated Chris’ calm manner and humor as we trained last summer in our backyard!
When we met Mike at the RV show and saw his dog Zeus, my wife told me that that was how she wanted our Bella trained. I was skeptical at best, as we had already tried a few other obedience programs with dismal results. But, we signed up for the demo anyway. What really got me thinking this could work was when you asked me if I ever yelled at my dog… Of course my answer was yes, just like any other owner that hasn’t had the Sit Means Sit training… Then you placed Zeus on a bench about 25 feet away and whispered “Come”. Even with the crowd moving down the aisle that separated you from Zeus, he came running!! That amazed me!! The day of the home demo, you proved with Zeus that it was not just some sort of set up at the IX center and with the confidence you instilled in us with the guarantee of results, we were sold. It was the best decision we could have made!! After the first session, I have yet to yell again at Bella! When friends and family come over now to visit, we can’t help but show off what you have given us, a well-mannered dog that is not distracted and listens to our commands the first time, every time – without yelling!! All of this in three lessons…. Truly amazing!!! I can’t thank you enough! You are an excellent trainer (both for dogs and humans alike) and we tell everyone what an outstanding job you did for us and what a great program Sit Means Sit has!
I can’t believe the change in my dog, Sophie. And it’s all thanks to Sit Means Sit!
Anyone thinking about giving Sit Means Sit Cleveland-Akron a try, I would say “What are you waiting for?!” Working with Chris was and still is a pleasurable experience. The payoffs were immediate and we were able to personalize what we needed help with. Chris, thank you for always showing up with a smile and a “let’s reach our goals” attitude and ultimately giving us a nice, quiet walk in the park with happy, obedient dogs!!
I have to post how thankful and grateful I am to Paul and everyone at Sit Means Sit! We thought we were going to have to get rid of our dog because of her aggressive behavior especially around men. She is like a brand new dog that’s confidence every day with less and less fear. She looks to me now for instruction on how to act in any given situation. Everyone now gets to know the lovable precious cuddling girl that we have always known! Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Paul helped train my dog, Pepper. She is a deaf dog and I don’t know what I would have done without his help. She is now well behaved and can follow her hand signals!
Thank you Sit Means Sit
Sit Means Sit was recommended by some great friends and former clients. We were at a loss of what to do with our unruly three month old Siberian Husky. We also had a two month old Sheltie. We thought two would be great growing up together- Not so! Skye was unruly and too rough with Kacee. Paul came and said he could help us. It’s been an amazing learning process with our now five month old Skye. She has made great progress and can now play and have fun with Kacee. We would like to thank Sit Means Sit!
I don’t know if there are enough words to tell you how big a difference Sit Means Sit has made in our dog’s behavior. Reecey is a 2 year old husky mix who was a great dog 90% of the time. It was the other 10% when he would suddenly become aggresive that was the problem, and it was getting worse. He had been through 3 obedience classes and we had another trainer come to the house. (He left bleeding. But he did recommend SMS.) It was Reecey’s last chance. Our vet was holding off giving him his shots because he didn’t want us to spend the money on vaccinations if we were going to have to have him put down because of his unpredictable aggression.
The demo gave us hope that he could be saved. The individual lessons with Chris worked wonders with him, and with our family in relearning how to deal with him. We still have work to do and are looking forward to group classes, but we are going to have a great dog 100% of the time thanks to Sit Means Sit.
We are thrilled with the results and I have recommended SMS to several friends/neighbors. Our dog is 1.5 years old and is a “perfect gentleman” when we take him to other people’s homes. His training allows us all to go to my sister’s pool on summer weekends. He is not a nuisance by begging for food, jumping in the pool or running around. He is well behaved and always invited. I’m not sure I could say that if it weren’t for SMS. He responds to other people’s commands as well as ours. SMS works.
Recommended SMS training techniques to our daughter for her 2 cockers and she too loves SMS and her well behaved pups.
I love Sit Means Sit, they have saved several of our dogs from a miserable life! Paul Pollock Rocks!!!!
My fiancé Will and I had an amazing experience with Sit Means Sit. We have two dobermans. Layla is our female and is two years old. Hendrix is our male and is almost two years old. Hendrix was more on the aggressive side with not only strangers but friends that entered the house. Since the training, he has completely changed. He’s a lot more friendly and less aggressive. Layla is doing just as great! We are very satisfied with our trainer Mike and the work he put in with our dogs. We would absolutely recommend Sit Means Sit to any of our fellow dog lover friends! Thank you Mike!!
Just wanted to let you know how happy I am with Rook and Arrow’s training. As a Veterinarian, I see so many animals that are given away because the owners were unable(or unwilling) to train them. I can say with absolute certainty to my clients that this method works. It is easy to do and you see the results immediately. I have recommended you to many clients who are frustrated with their rambunctious four legged family members. I would love for every dog to stay in their forever homes and Sit Means Sit can make this dream possible.
Before I called Sit Means Sit, my dog Seven had a few problems. He was tied up outside when I got him, so needless to say, he didn’t trust me very well. Seven would jump my fenced in yard, bolt out the door, not listen at all, growl at me with his food bowl, he bit the neighbor kid, and he was also a terror in the house. When he would get loose, there was no coming back until the next day. I thought he was a lost cause until I talked to Sit Means Sit. After a free demonstration by Paul, I decided to hire him for training. I was skeptical that the training would work, but my skepticism was proven wrong. Within about 30 minutes of the first home session, Seven was being very obedient. After the three home visits, I got to take him to group training. What a wonderful place that is. Not only did Seven learn to trust me, He also learned how to sit where I tell him, (he loves to sit in a wheelbarrow) and not move, he stays in the yard, he lets me take his food away, there’s no more bolting out the front door, heck, he’ll even stay in the front yard when I walk up the street. I am very pleased with Paul and his team at Sit Means Sit, and I would gladly recommend them to anyone that has a dog like mine. Thanks for taking the time to read my testimonial.
The change in Sophie’s behavior is just amazing!! And in just 3 weeks!! We can’t wait for the group sessions. Chris is a wonderful trainer. He was very informative and was happy to deal with any questions or concerns that we had. I would recommend your training services to anyone. Great job and thank you!!
I can’t say thank you enough for helping with Yoshi’s training. Even after one lesson, I couldn’t believe how much of a change I saw in him. Yoshi was never “bad” or severely misbehaved, but could definitely have used a little more obedience, especially when outside. Within a couple of days of the first lesson, I already had him off the leash to go outside to get the mail or walk the trashcan to the end of the driveway! He was also a really bad puller on the leash, so we were using a Gentle Leader, but he no longer needs it! He does great walking on the leash now. The trainers with Sit Means Sit are great people and they are absolutely wonderful with dogs. Thanks to their hard work, Yoshi is a happier dog and I am a much happier owner. Thanks for everything, I HIGHLY recommend you give them a call!
Take care and again, thanks for everything!
My name is Jim Yuhas and I wanted to provide a testimonail for our recent training with Mike. Jennah (My girlfriend) and I couldn’t be happier with the experience we’ve had. Samus is our year old pit bull/curly haired retriever mix and Mike did a wonderful job with us.
The change in Samus has been amazing. She listens and pays attention like never before. Before our Sit Means Sit lessons she wasconstantly distracted and we would have never had her off leash. After just the first lesson, she was behaving wonderfully. We even had her off leash for her potty breaks the next day! Another bonus is that she is even more affectionate than she was before. We definitely didn’t expect that.
Mike was a great pleasure to work with. He was on time, very enthusiastic about our training, and also very knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions without hesitation.
We couldn’t be happier with this training experience. Thank you Sit Means Sit!
Just wanted to say we couldn’t be happier with the results. I was a bit skeptical at first. Watching the You Tube videos of the fantastic dogs, I could never imagine those animals as part of our family. After three sessions with Mike we can see that the potential to have all we imagined out of our furry family members is there. If you’re looking for a magic wand this isn’t it. Paul and his crew will teach you how to PROPERLY use the E collar, but you have to put the time in so that you and your family and dogs all understand what is expected. We are really looking forward to the group classes. Dozer has always been fearful and aggressive towards strangers. He already seems more at ease with others and we think the group classes will help him be less fearful.
Mike Joseph was a pleasure to work with. He was easygoing and fun and helped us get the most out of our dogs. We have had many dogs over the years, but none we were ever comfortable having off leash. Mike has helped us get our puppy, Penny to a level that our other dogs never attained, and she is only 6 months old. Each dog has a very differrent personality. One is very laid back and slow and the other has a motor that is always on. He helped us see the differrent techniques needed to get the most from each of them.Thank you Sit Means Sit
This is to acknowledge the outstanding work you have done with me to learn important English words. I now understand when my owners ask me to come, heel, wait and sit. For example, I now enjoy sitting at the door when people come to visit our house, Previously I would jump around like an 80 lb. maniac whenever someone rang the bell. This seemed to upset my owners and that’s when they called ‘Sit Means Sit.’
Now, I’m a much happier dog and my owners are too. We can enthusiastically recommend ‘Sit Means Sit’ Training to any dog.
Paul and Chris, Roxie, Simba and Kiya are a great team!
Before Mike with Sit Means Sit Cleveland-Akron came into our lives Mea was completely out of control. She was like putting a bull in a china shop. Everything in her path destroyed and no way to communicate to her what I needed or wanted from her. After our first session Mea had already changed. She was listening to me, doing what I asked, and we began to bond even more than we already had. Each week her progress got better and I became even more amazed than the week before. I cannot thank you, Mike, enough for giving me the tools to bring my dog to her full potential and our relationship as well. You saved her and I will forever be grateful for all you’ve done.
I wish Paul could train my wife and kids like he trained my dogs! Thanks Paul…Great job!
There’s a local pet store in our area that specializes in puppies from local breeders. We visit the store fairly frequently to check out the pups. One afternoon, one particular pup caught my eye, but when I brought my husband to see him, there were only 2 pups left in the crate. We couldn’t see taking one pup and leaving the other, so we decided to get both, and we named them David and Brian.
For the first few months everything was fine with the boys. They did everything together-eat, sleep, and play. As they got a little older, though, they started getting more and more territorial, and soon they started fighting with each other. One would give the other the “stink eye”, and before you knew it, they were in knockdown, drag out fights to the death. By this time, they were pretty much ingrained into our family, and we couldn’t imagine giving one away. We decided to call Sit Means Sit because they had won a “Best in the Area” award.
When speaking with them on the phone, they said that they could train the boys to be less aggressive, so we gave them a try. From the first time Chris visited our home, we could tell that he had something that the boys really responded to, and we practiced everything he taught us during the days between Chris’ visits. I won’t say that the fighting stopped immediately, but over time we noticed that they were less and less aggressive toward each other. We started attending the group classes, and the more often we went, the better behaved they were…or maybe we were getting better trained in how to handle them.
Dave and Brian love going to the group classes where they can socialize with their friends. We can take them into stores where little kids run up to them, and we have no fear about their behavior. They even passed the Canine Good Citizen test. It’s been about a year and half now, and going to Sit Means Sit is the best thing we ever did for our dogs. We wished we had used them for our other dogs, too.
All involved are very dedicated individuals….they train in a very kind way so these pets understand their commands and what is expected of them through dicipline and love. In return these families practice these lessons learned at home where these pets become a real “joy” to be around. Very good program!!
Best training ever. I am very pleased I called them. We have a great time at group class. The trainers are excellent. Thank you SMS!
You guys were better than we could have ever dreamed! Blu-Ray is now quickly on the way to becoming the dog we dreamed of. Chris and Paul are very helpful and knowledgeable, which helped us quickly grasp the concepts they were teaching. Rachel helped schedule classes around our very crazy schedules. She/they were very accommodating during a very trying and difficult time for us. I can not wait until we have our other dog go through this class and get her to that next level. The only thing I would have done differently is enroll sooner. We have enjoyed the entire process and I recommend it to every dog owner out there!
Before Sit-Means-Sit, my lab mix, Misty was a huge ball of energy and not able to focus. Since her training we are able to keep her off leash to run around and play in our unfenced back yard. She used to piddle, but four days with Paul and she no longer piddles. The results were instant from the first day of training where Mike was able to stop her from jumping up on people.
Put our dog Asia, through this training & now have a wonderful, loving member of the family.
A HUGE HUGE thank you to Shawn for working with Rocky this morning in his first group class! Your attention to Rocky meant so much to me and him! So thank you, thank you, thank you!! Also wanted to thank Jody and Chris for your help too!! I feel more confident now after leaving the class!
We are amazed on after 3 classes how well behaved our dog is. We have tried other training class and none have worked like Sit means Sit!!
Wanted to thank Mike for the Sit Means Sit personal training sessions with our dog Zeus. We were amazed at how quickly we saw results with him. Mike was right. Zeus is even more affectionate now that he knows what we expect of him and know how to communicate with him. We are looking forward to the group sessions starting in January so we can get him assimilated with other dogs. I am sure that will be a success as well.
I am definitely a satisfied customer and have already recommended this type of training to my next door neighbors!!
Happy Holidays and Good Luck.
I’VE LEARNED HOW TO CONTROL MY DOG AND THEREFORE SHE FEELS MORE SECURE WHEN WALKING. IT IS NICE TO BE ABLE TO WALK WITHOUT ALL THE TENSION. THE EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN GREAT AND THE GROUP CLASSES HELP A LOT.
I wanted better behavior in public and when someone comes to our home. Our dogs were awful with other dogs and people. Barking, jumping, snarling, etc.. They hated other dogs and barked at every person they saw. They like dogs now and don’t react at all to people we pass on walks. The difference in their behavior is nothing short of amazing. I think you are great. I tell everyone I know, who has a dog, how wonderful your training is. I have passed on the phone number to several people and will continue to do so. It truly is a fantastic program.
Our 6 month old St. Bernard pup Ruby is no longer out of control. We have had 3 home training sessions with Chris and one group session. Ruby is now a pleasure to be with in and out of the house. She doesn’t take me for walks anymore, I am able take her. What a difference Sit Means Sit training has made. The group sessions are so much fun for Ruby and a great way to teach Ruby and us other skills. We are looking forward to next group session. See you Saturday!
Thanks Chris, I know Ruby did not make your task easy!
“I just picked up my 8 year old Jack Russell, Sammy, from 10 days of board/training and to say that he is a new dog is an understatement. The trainers kept in touch with me his entire stay and so did the kennel as he has nasty allergies. You could tell by how he interacted with them that he loved his time there.
The time that was spent “training” my husband and myself when we went to pick him up will come in handy as we continue our journey with Sammy.
I cannot thank the team at Sit Means Sit Akron enough for their patience, encouragement and love they showed my dog.”
So excited to finally be able to spend time with my dog outside, in public and not have to worry about things. Kevin is awesome. He worked through every little thing, always made sure to ask if I had any questions or concerns. They also made sure to center around what the needs are you wanted to cover. I will definitely be using sit means sit in the future.
Sit Means Sit is a great company! I was nervous being away from my dog, and the staff was reassuring and were always so comforting and understanding when I called everyday to check up on Nala. Nala has been home from training for about a week and I am very impressed!! She no longer jumps on people to welcome them (she is a big dog), is not mouthy with me, does not try to take things that aren’t hers, and follows her commands wonderfully! I’m looking forward to working with the staff throughout the next year to develop Nala to her full potential as a wonderful dog!!
Magda attended the ten day training/boarding program. Although I was beyond sad to leave her, I was also excited to see the dog she would become. Sit Means Sit and Michelle have changed our lives. Magda was a bit of a bully and pretty much did whatever she wanted whenever she wanted. Yesterday, for the first time in the four years that I have had her, she spent the entire day outside with the family and I didn’t worry about her once. She stayed in our yard with no urge to run away. She has also been more focused and a nicer sister to her two fur brothers. Magda is nine years old, so I was a little doubtful that she would respond so well, but I guess you can teach old dogs new tricks! I am beyond pleased with the results from Magda’s stay. Not to mention the staff there are so pleasant to work with. Thank you so much!!!!
We dropped our 1 & 1/2 year old GSD Zeke off for a 10 day board and train on 9/7/17. When we picked him up ten days later, he was still the same happy, goofy dog we had before, but much more attentive to commands and calmer than we expected. Zeke has always been high energy and extremely skittish at home around new guests. Since returning home on 9/17/17, we have had friends over that Zeke has barked at (and gotten a little aggressive with), and he let us take control of the situation. Within minutes of giving him commands, he was calming down and ready to say hello to our visitors. We couldn’t be happier with how well the process was for Zeke and we are looking forward to working on making him an even better dog in the future!! Would definitely recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone who is looking to train their dog!
The trainers were amazing. So calm and effective in teaching a rambunctious puppy the art of control and behavior. I feel like I have a new dog! They gave us the tools needed to continue to improve as she grows.
Sit Means Sit is a wonderful program to get your dog enrolled in! My 3 year old lab mix went through the program and they completely transformed him. Michelle is a wonderful trainer, as are the other employees. They were so friendly and you can tell that they care very greatly for the animals. They also offer boarding for the dogs and I will only take my dog there from now on! What a wonderful facility!!
Sit Means Sit has truly changed my life! I had a high anxiety shepherd who became reactive towards everything including people, dogs, and cars. I tried everything I could possibly think of to fix his behaviors, but despite my attempts, he continued to get worse to the point where he had to be muzzled any time we went outside. We tried two other training companies and none of them were able to help him, until we found Sit Means Sit. He went through a two-week immersion program and came back a completely different dog! It’s been about 9 months since his training and he just continues to get better every single day. I cannot thank the trainers at Sit Means Sit enough for giving me the happy and obedient dog I always wanted. I can now take him out in public and consistently get compliments on how well behaved he is, which is a great feeling! You can really see the passion and love they have for dogs and they are amazing at what they do!
Our rescue (Catahoula Leopard/Terrier mix) is a sweetheart, but she has a wild streak when she is outdoors. One of the kids would open the door to go outside and Daisy would run outside and go crazy until she decided to come home. This posed a danger to the dog, drivers on our street, and the kids (who would chase after her even when we told them not to). Michelle Culp at Sit Means Sit came for three sessions in our home. Although the training is pricey relative to what we paid for the dog, Daisy does not run away anymore. Knowing that I (or anyone in our family) can call her back and that she will come every time is well worth what we paid, and there are other negative behaviors that Michelle helped us train out of our dog, too. The collars are not cruel–the SMS trainers know how to work with your dog so the lowest level of vibration can be used. The in-home training meant that there would be “homework” for everyone in the family between sessions. This was not challenging, but the daily reinforcement was vital. The trainer is very friendly, and she made herself available via phone between sessions if we had any problems or questions. The one, minor problem we had with the collar was handled by the company immediately. If Sit Means Sit can train my dog, they can train anyone’s dog. I highly recommend them!
There is no better training available. Sit Means Sit corrects problems that others cannot. My dogs are no longer fearful of other dogs, and they are so well behaved on walks and visits to the vet. No more uncontrolled barking fits.
We had a great experience with Sit Means Sit at our home training and at the Copley facility for group training. All the employees were very knowledgeable, great with the dogs and owners. My dog is now able to walk on a leash without dragging me down the road, listens to commands, and it makes for a less stressful time. Thank you!
I found Sit Means Sit to be a company who really cares about you and your dog. My 9 year old rescue has issues that I hoped could be managed with proper training but they called me to pick him up and explained that there are issues that can’t benefit from their training. They were very honest and fair in their assessment of him and the situation. I could not think of a company with more integrity then they have when dealing with you and your dog.
Paul and the whole SMS group are wonderful! They saved our house from destruction. It is such a relief when you get to know your dog so well and know exactly how they will react in a situation, and how to handle it. We never imagined we would have a dog this well trained! They give you the tools and show you what your dog needs so you are learning along with your dog, building a trusting relationship. They also train for the “real world” and not just for classes which is incredibly useful!
We train both our Great Danes through Sit Means Sit… It is absolutely the best money we have ever spent. The trainers are so very helpful, knowledgeable and caring. You will not regret taking your dog(s) here.
We brought our 1 year old Cane Corso to sit means sit for the 10 day training. He is a lovable big lug but he was having issues with listening and he didn’t do well around men and other dogs. The trainers here were wonderful and helped us tremendously with being able to manage our headstrong dog so that he can be balanced and happy. Chelsea and Bethany did a wonderful job working with him. Thank you thank you to sit means sit and their staff for helping us. Highly recommend!
Our dog was very anxious and scared around strangers and other dogs. Taking her on walks was stressful, and having people over to our house was nerve racking. We tried private trainers, group training, pheromone treatments, anti-depressants, thundershirts… Everything we could think of. Finally we decided to place her in Sit Means Sit’s doggy jump start program. We picked her up 2 days ago, and she is a completely different dog! We took her to a group lesson yesterday with over 20 other dogs and strangers and she was as cool as can be. She let complete strangers approach her and pet her without so much as tensing up. We even let her go off leash and romp with 10 other dogs outside for a while. Two weeks ago doing this would have been absolutely out of the question. What I find truly amazing is that the Sit Means Sit method has not changed our dog’s personality. She is still a big, energetic, goof ball. But now she is that way with everyone and not just people she knows. She is clearly SO MUCH happier now, and so am I. This place works miracles.
