Testimonials

This past June when I took Manguita for her free evaluation at Sit Means Sit Dog Training in Portland I knew I found the right place for her training. Every member of the staff I have dealt with there, Wes, Danielle, Monique, Mike and Laura, everybody is very knowledgeable, attentive with a real good interpersonal skill and ready to help you. They are always ready to answer any questions you may have and will offer tips on how to correct any situation. Since Manguita has been attending her training she is a different pup. When I take her out for a walk, it’s me taking  her and not her taking me (like it used to be 😀) plus her behavior around other people and dogs has improved tremendously! I feel I can take her everywhere and she’ll be on her best behavior. The cost for the training is very reasonable and they even offer a payment plan and the fact that with the first class she took “Well Manner Dog” they gave her a year access to the Group Training Classes twice a week (once you pup is certified to attend) which is a great deal. I plan to continue signing her up for future additional classes that she can benefit from. You guys at Sit Means Sit Dog Training” thanks for your effort in making our pups better family members and keep up the good work! I’m recommending you guys to everybody I know!

Whiskey and I have been training at Sit Means Sit Corpus Christi for years, not because Whiskey hasn’t achieved every goal I’ve set for him but because training is a lifetime activity for dogs and it’s fun.  I initially came to SMS when Whiskey was 10 months old.  He was a very smart puppy, and he knew it.  He would be opening doors on his own to go see the neighbors and in general just not listen and wander off and refuse to come back when I called.  Our initial goals were to get a solid recall and have him be off leash and not pull when he was on a leash.  We have achieved those goals and then some!  Whiskey is now a therapy dog and gets to spread the love wherever we go.  People see him working and jokingly threaten to steal him since he is so well behaved and calm around new people and other dogs.  Little do they know he is still my hyper, crazy puppy; he just knows when he has to use his manners.  Sit Means Sit training allows him to go with me anywhere dogs are allowed: other people’s houses, camping, paddle boarding, beach trips, road trips, restaurants, markets days, you name it.  I cannot recommend them enough for all they have done for me and my pup!

Loving Whiskey & Karissa!

After hearing great things about Sit Means Sit on the radio, we decided to try the free consultation. In about 5 minutes we were impressed with what Monique had our eight-month-old puppies doing. We did a few private lessons that taught us how to work with our pups. The private classes are the best because we get to work with all of the staff at Sit Means Sit. The whole staff loves puppies and wants to see you and your pups grow as a happy family. We now have two puppies that we get complimented on everywhere we take them. One of our pups Daisy Mae is now AKC registered with CGC, CGCA, CGCU, and part of the Go Team Therapy Dogs. Our other puppy LD is going to advanced classes where they show you how to do more with your dogs such as off-leash training, heads up heel, and more advanced skills. He is also now AKC CGC and AKC tricks. We could not have done this without the Sit Means Sit staff: Wes, Mike, Laura, Danielle, Casey, Lisa, Bree, and Monique. If you want a great well behaved puppy, dog, then trust these guys to help you achieve your goal. Thank you for everything!

I chose Sit Means Sit Dog Training because after having my sweet puppy for a few months I started noticing her aggressive tendencies. It wasn’t until I tried taking her to the beach full of people where she proceeded to freak out, lunge, and growl at people passing by, that’s when I knew something needed to change. I began doing my research and pretty quickly found SMS, I sent them an email and within the same week I got a FREE consultation! Since then Xena has gotten her CGC, therapy dog training, AKC Trick Dog Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced titles! I’m able to take my Xena with me and not have the fear of her being aggressive towards anyone! I cannot express how much SMS has changed my relationship with my Xena and I advise anyone struggling with their dog to come see there is a better way!

This adorable puppy came into my life, and I soon found out I could not stand the misbehaving, ankle nipping behavior.  Something needed to be done.  She was only twelve weeks and I was desperate.  I made an appointment with Sit means Sit, and I was amazed how well my puppy obeyed Wes that I wanted to learn how to do that.  Now  I not only have a great puppy, but Daisy is now a Go Team Therapy dog. We volunteer and serve our community.

As the mom of a new pup, I wanted to make sure that I did everything that I could to ensure I was raising a well mannered obedient pup. After researching dog trainers in the area I decided on Sit Means Sit in Portland TX.  The facility is 44 miles away from my home (one way), but well worth the drive.  Sit Means Sit has the best dog trainers in the area who are all extremely knowledgeable and do a phenomenal job training not only dogs, but the humans too.  Thanks to the training we received at Sit Means Sit, Bentley and I are now part of The Go Team Therapy Dog Team!
We are so happy to be part of the Sit Means Sit family!

We brought our beautiful Border Collie Lexxa home when she was 10 weeks
old. We put her into puppy training classes at a local pet store where she
did exceptionally well. Our trouble started when her Intermediate classes
started. We were no longer getting the level of training that we needed for
Lexxa.
As a first time dog owner I felt lost because I didn’t know how to
train her the way she needed to be trained. It seemed like we were only
moving backwards so we left that facility. Several months had passed and I
was desperate for help. That’s when we looked for a new trainer and we
found Wes and Casey Wirick at Sit Means Sit Corpus Christi.
After our consultation and evaluation appointment with Lexxa we
decided to stay. Wes, owner and head trainer is AMAZING!! We saw an
improvement with her immediately. He has been so patient with me over the
past several months. His training has surpassed everything I was expecting
and completely changed my life as a dog owner.
We went to our private lessons and group classes 3 times s week. Now
Lexxa is now a very confident and obedient dog. And I am a confident and
educated dog owner. Together Lexxa and I have worked very hard and she has
since earned her CGC Certification, AKC Novice, Intermediate and Advanced
Trick Dog Certifications and will be starting her Therapy Dog Training this
month.
None of this would have been possible for us without the amazing talent
and direction Wes Wirick and the other trainers at Sit Means Sit.
Wes has taught me so much during our lessons and group classes that I
am now working for him as a new trainer helping to teach other new dog
parents to work with their fur babies.
I WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL!

We had Max for 5 months before we were blessed to find Wes with Sit Means Sit of Corpus Christi he was a biting puppy, would beg at the table, bark at everyone that came to the door and jump up on everyone especially children. I enjoy walking and tried to walk with him but, wasn’t worth the problems. Wes changed our lives from the first day he trained us. Yes, it was more difficult to train me than it was Max but we made it and now as we walk through Lowes people comment on how well behaved our Max is. We now are enjoying our new friends on Sat training. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for us.

After hearing so many great things about Wes and Sit Means Sit we decided to send both our 2 year old MinPin and our 8 month old Boxer to Wes. Let me tell you that the MinPin is awesome, yet a bit skittish and very obstinate. The Boxer is amazing and so loveable too, but timid and immature. Wes took them separately, but in succession, so we could work with one before the other returned. —– I could say a million great things, but here are the high points. Wes is amazing and loves these dogs like they are his own! He is great with us and our kids as we learn this new amazing process. And our wonderful dogs are happier, well behaved, and have developed a great sense of pride in their accomplishments. Our family couldn’t be happier. Don’t even look anywhere else for dog training! You must use Wes and Sit Means Sit! Thank you Wes! We are huge fans and will continue to tell everyone to use your services. LuLu and Nala say thanks too!

I got Leo from the Gulf South Humane Society in Corpus Christi two years ago. He is very smart, and loves to learn, but had not been taught how to greet other dogs properly. Other Obedience trainers just said he was an aggressive dog who shouldn’t be around other dogs.
Leo is a well mannered dog now with the help of Sit Means Sit Corpus Christi Trainer Wes. Wes got Leo to the point where he ignores other dogs and waits for me to allow him to greet other dogs with no issues. Thank you so much for making Leo a great companion with excellent manners in varying public settings!

Cheryl and I want to thank Wes and his staff for the continued encouragement and invaluable help with training our German Shepherd Puppy, Max. Max is gentle with children and people but not so much with other dogs. Your evaluation of Max was spot on. The subsequent training and information provided by you on “Dog Psychology” was nothing less than Inspiring. We have had dogs all our lives and trained everyone incorrectly. Not one trainer has ever provided the insight you have.
The important training fundamentals you provided helped us to understand the training process, and more importantly, exactly how to effectively impart these commands to him! We never really understood how to use each training tool effectively; in fact, in the past we had used every one of them incorrectly. And, I mean every one of them: collar training, pinch collar, leash control, electric dog collar, etc. etc. Max is progressing very well and our proper use of the tools has made a dramatic impact on his success.
However, what I appreciate the most about Wes and “Sit Means Sit” is your determination and patience in making a positive impact on Max (and every dog for that matter) as well as your thorough knowledge of how to make Max a better, well-trained pet; and, despite “not training husbands and wives,” you are pretty darn good at that too! In addition, anytime we encountered any issue you always promptly returned our call and advised us what to do.
Cheryl and I wholeheartedly recommend you and Sit Means Sit. What a great program. We enjoy coming to your classes and learning something new each time.

Before Sit Means Sit I had no control of my 1 year old 100 pound German Shepherd Nash. 2 weeks with SMS Trainers we received a brand new Nash! I am no longer being pulled, ignored or trampled on, I am the boss! I am able to enjoy my big boy at sporting events, parks and many more places I never would have thought I could take my big boy. SMS community is welcoming, fun and engaging. There is always new classes we can attend to train dog owners to be better parents to our dogs, and for them to be obedient, safer and happier dogs! I am extremely pleased we made the decision to invest in our Nash and Sit Means Sit.
