Dog Trainers In Elkton, Newark & New Castle
We offer professional puppy obedience and dog training in Newark, New Castle, Christiana, Glasgow, Wilmington and Bear, Delaware as well as Elkton and surrounding Maryland areas.
When we talk about our basic training methods, we’re beginning at the level where many other dog training companies end. We think of off-leash walking as a basis for obedience, not the end goal. Dog Training Classes
Day Training
The Day Training program is one of our most popular options. It fits perfectly into the schedules of busy individuals who still want their dog home at night for all the cuddles and playtime. It’s as simple as this: Drop your dog off in the morning, pick them up in the evening after your lesson with one of our trainers.
That’s it!
During their time with us, we teach your dog a foundation of training that will do wonders. Some results you can expect to see are enhanced communication skills, fortified distraction training, unprecedented problem-solving abilities, and more. We’re with you every step of the way.
Private Lessons
How many times does that delicious bacon treat work perfectly indoors, and then fail the moment you step outside or visit the dog park? Private lessons are designed with the individual in mind. You and your dog are paired with a personal dog trainer who is entirely dedicated to your specific goals.
One of the beauties of private lessons is that you can take them anywhere. Your dog trainer can follow you on your walk, hang out at the dog park, walk through a store, or stay at home with you.
Wherever your problems are the worst is where you and your trainer can work on learning skills and techniques that will improve your dog’s quality of life.
Puppy Program
It is never too early to start basic puppy training! In fact, the first 20 weeks of a dog’s life are the most crucial to the training process. Our Puppy Program is designed for dogs who are 8 to 15 weeks old. The training they receive at this stage will lay a foundation of fundamental basics that will last forever, regardless of the dog’s age.
Early training is always important, but if you want your dog to go into physical therapy fields, you definitely don’t want to miss out on this opportunity! All certification programs that learn more advanced techniques will be significantly easier to accomplish if your puppy has a strong basis of obedience.
Our puppy experts are dedicated to making this training experience fun and educational for both puppies and their owners!
Group Class
After your dog has completed one of our other training programs, they’re welcome to join us in group classes for socialization and reinforcement of their training. We’re able to effectively teach real-world safety and structure in a safe environment with dogs and owners who are like-minded.
Structured Daycare Service
Our Structured Daycare Service is for clients only, to help keep the setting positive. You can think of it as a way you can send your dog to school regularly to help reinforce all that hard-won training.
It’s a calm, safe environment where your dog can learn via a neutral communication system, allowing us to build relationships based on trust and fun. We work on commands such as “place” and “come,” but with plenty of rest time, play breaks, and bathroom visits. Your dog’s energy is safe with us!
Drop off is as early as 6:30 AM, and pickup is no later than 6:30 PM (Monday through Friday).
Reactive Dog Training Package
As stated above, we do not turn away any dog. Our proven process allows us to welcome reactive dogs with open arms.
Our 5-week program equips you and your dog to handle other dogs, unfamiliar people, and uncertain situations with confidence. We personalize the support we offer, as well as work on real-world scenarios so that you feel capable and informed.
Our remote dog training collars help us build trust and clear lines of communication. This tool uses remote-controlled cue “taps” that we prompt at the right time. This way, we can direct the dog’s attention to what is good, while keeping our mission in mind to give every dog their best chance at a happy, fulfilled life. We firmly believe that a reactive dog can have the same relationship with their owner as a non-reactive dog. It just takes the right training approach and a caring, knowledgeable hand.
Dog Owners Reviews
We love customers and their dogs. They love us.
Great program! Great trainers! Hailey, our trainer, has been awesome and we’re so happy with the progress our puppy is making.
I was amazed with the results even after the very first class! Our pup is so much better than we expected after only 3 lessons. We look forward to continuing on with the group classes that are included to get the most out of the program, and see even more improvement with our pup! Shout…
Great experience at Sit Means Sit with our two bull terriers. They were patient with our stubborn bull-headed dogs. They lay a good framework and give you the tools but the owner must do most of the training at home. They do give good support and the graduate lessons are great to continue the work…
I have a Belgian Malinois which is an active, strong-willed breed. I am so thankful for the training at Sit Means Sit. My dog is doing amazing. She is like one of those TV dogs now. And it’s fantastic to have the opportunity to continue practicing with the group classes after the private sessions. She…
