Somehow I wrote a review and must have erased it so this won’t be as wordy. We were blessed to come across Neil Cohen’s name and Sit Means Sit’s number several years ago after “flunking out” with 2 other . I had multiple physicians tell me to rehome Delilah, our now 3 year old Beagle for fear that she would hurt me- she was called “aggressive” she did bite my partner and myself if she didn’t want to do something and she was horrible walking on leash and I did fall fairly frequently. We had no intentions of rehoming Delilah but we were absolutely desperate by the time we first spoke with Neil.
With that first call, was the sense that he could help us, that we could be ok and have a family together. And that’s what has happened. It has truly been a miracle! While she’s not perfect, who is? And she will always be a stubborn willful hound, she is my Emotional Support Dog and my reason to get up in the morning and Delilah is the reason that I continue to walk as well as I do. I was diagnosed with MS just before she came into our lives and I don’t always want to go outside and walk, but if she needs a walk, we walk. So thank you to Delilah! But mostly, thank you to Neil and the SMS team for giving us this goofy, loving adorable, sometimes bratty girl who keeps me on my toes and laughing.. I recommend Sit Means Sit to EVERYONE with a dog. You won’t be sorry. They saved our family and have given us such joy and love. A million times over. They are the best!!!

I started Sit Means Sit with Rogue to “polish him up”. It is so much more than that! Rogue is a 5 year old Pit Bull found chained to an abandoned house, starving to death. He has an unknown past, and can be reactive to other dogs.

After day one of being with Alexa, Lexi, Chris, Sam and Neil, I knew we were in the right place. They show so much personalized attention not only to all the dogs, but to every single guardian. I know that for myself it has been a very personal, introspective journey with my dog. And everyone at Sit Means Sit has helped me and Rogue get thru every step.

I honestly can’t imagine not taking Rogue to “school”. I cannot even mention any of their names without him running to the door, staring at his leash, wanting to get in the car and see his friends.

Rogue isn’t perfect yet. But with the help of everyone at Sit Means Sit, I honestly see that he will be. I am forever grateful to them for helping the rest of the world see my amazing dog.

We’ve done a lot of training with our big pittie, and Sit Means Sit has been the best overall group we’ve worked with. The system works and it’s amazing to see the bad habits we enabled in our dog melt away with consistent work both at the facility and continuing those lessons at home. The best thing is that the lessons and system is accessible to anyone. Neil and the crew make it easy to continue the work at home and are always there to support with any questions or adjustments we need. Our big guy looks forward to his training at the facility and at home and we can finally travel again knowing our four legged child is safe and happy with his family at his second home. Sit Means Sit has been a game changer for our whole family.
We are grateful you’re here to help!

Neil at Sit Means Sit is amazing! We adopted a 4 year old Lab mix with a lot of energy. She has transformed: we’ve been able to bring her to a baseball game, a pet fair, and Oktoberfest and she’s great! She stays by our side, listens to commands, and loves meeting new people. We highly recommend Sit Means Sit

Absolutely loved the trainers and facility. Super professional and very good with dogs. Any time my dog, Saint, sees them he goes ballistic with excitement and wants all their attention. They show a tremendous amount of love to all the dogs. They really helped my dog out with all his bad behavior issues and training needs

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Sit Means Sit! Like many others, my family adopted a rescue dog during the pandemic. Levi is the sweetest dog on the planet, but he definitely had some behavioral issues we needed to deal with, including all the shoes and chair cushions he chewed and the cars and joggers he would bark and lunge at. When I first spoke with Neil, I asked him if he really thought I would see a difference in 8 weeks, and he told me I’d see a difference after one day of training. And he wasn’t wrong. They promised me my dream dog and they delivered! And it’s not only my family that noticed the change – several neighbors have commented on how well-behaved Levi is. He now sits when he sees a car approaching, and we haven’t lost any more shoes. Neil, Sam, and Dana are all fabulous and love the dogs as if they’re their own. I recommend them highly.

I had a great experience with Sit Means Sit. I was very hesitant to take my dog to training because we had a bad experience previously. Neil spoke to me about the situation and made me feel very comfortable with starting training again.
Tootsie thrived and she is still a mischievous little Girl but a better trained one! I especially like how I was given a lesson at the end of each day so I know what was done and how to work the skills at home.
We love the group classes and will continue to go as long as they will have us!!
I highly recommend them!! Neil, Sam & Dana are the best.

Neil and Sam are absolutely incredible, and their expertise, bed-side manner, and professionalism are first rate. They not only provided world class instruction to our recently adopted 6 moth old puppy, but quelled the fears and provided round the clock support to those who truly needed it more than the canine- me (the dog owner)! We will continue to be part of the Sit Means Sit family post Dream Puppy Training, and absolutely love the Saturday socialization and group walking classes being offered as the next step in our training progression. Thank you!

Bailey, my 11 month old cockapoo is adorable but naughty. Hiding under the bed when I want to take him out and running across the street when I accidentally let go of the leach are a few of the things that prompted me to contact Neil. After working with Neil, Bailey sits on command even if there are squirrels running up the trees and comes when called. Neil did an amazing job with Bailey and I highly recommend him if you want a well behaved and obedient dog.

Neil is seriously THE BEST!!!! My dog had quite a few issues and as a new dog owner I had ZERO confidence or knowledge in handling him. I can not thank Neil and his staff enough for the help and guidance I received. I feel a thousand times more confident and know that if any issues arises I can text Neil and get help Asap. The most important thing is my dog instantly bonded with Neil and I know hiring him was the best thing we did as a family. He still goes crazy when he sees him and showers him in kisses. Thanks Neil and staff!!!

When I rescued my dog Patches. Who is a pit bull. Patches was abandoned in a Bronx apt. He had problems of jumping on people, he would bark, and he was very hyper. So when I hired Neil at Sit Means Sit. He came over my house and explained his way of training. He was very impressive.and professional. So after taking patches for 3 Monday’s for 8 hrs, I was amazed the difference in his behavior. He was like a different dog. He didn’t jump or bark . And he was excellent at obeying commands. I would highly recommend Neil to train anybody’s dog. I’m so happy with the new behavior of patches. He’s like a complete different dog thanks to Neil. And of course I have to take some credit bc I listened to Neil. And did reps every day.

I cannot overly state how much Neil from SitMeansSit helped me. I adopted a pitbull on death row, was told she was fine with other animals, and maybe she was in the shelter, but definitely not once at home. She attempted to maul my female pitbull, and I was helpless to change this behavior, and looked to return her, which would have meant certain death for her. I was at the end of my rope, and so was she, but I contacted Neil as a last ditched effort. Neil immediately started working

with her, and a dog of his own, much to my shock, since I was so afraid. He also taught me how to work with them both, eventually reintroducing them, using the Sit Means Sit techniques Neil explained to me. My family, and my pack are beyond grateful, I would have had to given this dog back otherwise, which again, would have meant certain death. He helped me save her life, and Petunia (the attacker), and Sugar (the attackee) are best of friends now.

Neil has been incredible! He is extremely patient and our dog
loves to go to training! We can now have an enjoyable walk with
our dog with no pulling or jumping. He also makes himself
available for any questions or concerns outside of scheduled
sessions. Highly recommend!

I came to Neil in June 2015 feeling helpless. At around 10 months of age, my border collie mix, Sarge, began displaying some fear-based leash aggression toward both strangers and other dogs. Other trainers had suggested clicker training, spraying him with a water bottle, one even had me “bark” at him. Sarge couldn’t have cared less about these methods. Sarge went everywhere with me – to the farmers market, Home Depot, Oktoberfest, and virtually anywhere that allowed dogs. His reactivity when on leash became so embarrassing and unbearable that I had to stop taking him out into public. I was devastated by this, but also fearful that Sarge, now over a year old, may escalate to biting someone out of fear one
day. I came across Sit Means Sit while Googling how to help my dog with leash reactivity, and I am so thankful I jumped on board with the Sit Means Sit family. After only a couple of days working with
Neil, both Sarge and I had this confidence we never had before. And after only a week of working with Neil and Sit Means Sit, not one, but numerous people told me what a good dog Sarge is. I honestly thought I would never hear those words again.

If you’re looking for someone to help you train the perfect, most well behaved dog, look no further.
