About OurNew Milford, CTDog Training

Sit Means Sit Dog Training proudly serves dogs and their owners throughout New Milford and the surrounding communities with proven obedience training programs designed to create lasting results.

Our goal is to help you build a stronger connection with your dog through clear communication, structure, and consistency. Dogs thrive when they understand what is expected of them, allowing them to remain calm, focused, and responsive in a variety of environments. Without proper guidance, many dogs develop unwanted behaviors that can make everyday life more challenging for both pets and owners.

When you choose Sit Means Sit, you’ll work with experienced trainers who take the time to understand your dog’s personality, behavior, and training goals. We customize our approach to help address everything from basic obedience to more advanced behavioral challenges, creating a training plan that fits your dog’s unique needs.

Whether you have a new puppy, an energetic adolescent, or an older dog in need of better manners, our attention-based training methods can help improve confidence, reliability, and overall behavior. Dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes are welcome.

Take the first step toward a happier, better-behaved companion. Contact Sit Means Sit Dog Training New Milford today to schedule your free evaluation and learn how we can help your dog reach their full potential.

Day & Train Program

Day Training

Our Day Training Program is our most popular choice among clients. This program is a hybrid version of a typical board & train. Instead of Fido spending the night at our facility, they come home with you at the end of each day! So, your pooch doesn’t have to stay anywhere overnight and be away… Read More

Private Lessons

Private Lessons

Private Lessons are an excellent option for pet parents that want to be directly involved with their dog’s training. You’ll work with your designated trainer to increase Fido’s obedience skills. Together you’ll develop a training plan based on your needs and the trainer’s observations. We can work with you and your dog in the comfort… Read More

Puppy Management

Puppy Management

When it comes to training, the first 20 weeks of a dog’s life are the most important. This time when they’re a puppy is crucial in setting a foundation of obedience and good manners for the rest of their life. Some of the first things we target are potty training and biting. If your canine… Read More

Behavior Modification Training

In addition to our training programs, we can train your dog or pup to overcome specific behaviors and emotions for a happier, healthier dog.

Aggressive

An aggressive dog can cause difficulties when trying to incorporate them into your daily life, and can create stress and strain for everyone in your household. Often these behaviors stem from factors like inadequate socialization, fear, stress, or negative past experiences. Working collaboratively, you and your trainer can address and resolve some of these behavioral… Read More

High-Distraction

Does your dog bolt the second they see a squirrel, person, or another dog across the street? These distractions are unavoidable in the real world, which is why our trainers focus and specialize in high-distraction training. With consistency, we can help direct your dog’s focus to you in any situation when distractions arise.… Read More

Off-Leash

If you aspire to enjoy the freedom of having your dog off-leash while exploring your favorite trails or during camping adventures, off-leash training could be a perfect fit for you and your furry companion. Off-leash training is distinct from obedience, although skills such as recall are the foundation of off-leash training. Our trainers will begin… Read More

Reactive

A reactive dog overreacts to normal situations that other dogs would take in stride. They become overstimulated easily and may bark, lunge, and growl at something as simple as another dog or person walking on the other side of the street. Attention to training is extremely important, as reactivity can turn into aggression. The cause… Read More

Socialization

Socialization with dogs, humans, and other animals is a great way to ensure a well-mannered and confident dog. The best time to socialize is between 10-16 weeks of age, but not all dogs get to experience socialization as a puppy. A lot of rescue dogs enter their new homes without proper socialization, which can put… Read More

Carolanne changed my life with my 3-yr old Lab. Head strong and after we got him my husband started on the dementia path. I had a lot going on and could not spend the time with Buster that he deserved. Sit mean sit was recommended to me and I took him there. In the evaluation she “got” him right away. We both agreed he needed to stay for 15 days as he needed intensive work. The dog I got back is amazing. She changed his life and mine. I can walk him now without fear of being pulled over. I say sit once and he sits and doesn’t break. He will now have a better life. I am so thankful and so impressed by the sit mean sit method. I highly recommend it and Carolanne in particular.
