Border Collie

Border collies are one of the most intelligent dog breeds. The breed is crafty and athletic, has a strong work ethic, is a strong communicator, and has been known to recognize over 1,000 words! These dogs need plenty of mental and physical stimulation to stay happy and healthy. Border Collies tend to weigh 30 to 55 pounds, grow 18 to 22 inches tall, and live 12 to 15 years.

Poodle

From teacup to standard, poodles are also known for being smart. The breed has high emotional and cognitive intelligence, is trainable, and enjoys being challenged.  Standard poodles can weigh 50 to 70 pounds and live 10 to 18 years.

German Shepherd

German Shepherds learn new commands quickly, have a high level of focus, have a protective instinct,  and desire to be obedient. Additionally, this breed is often utilized in law enforcement and as service dogs. This is because the species can evaluate situations and determine the best action. Because of this, they are one of the most intelligent working dogs! They can weigh 50 to 90 pounds and live 7 to 10 years.

Retrievers

Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers are some of the most intelligent dog breeds. Golden Retrievers have a high impulse to please, so they are diligent, dependable, and obedient workers. Labrador Retrievers can make good judgments based on their keen sense of smell. Additionally, they learn from humans but also learn by watching and imitating. Labradors also make great emotional support dogs for this reason, too!

Rottweiler

Rottweilers were originally bred to herd livestock and are known for their sharp senses, intense loyalty, and keen awareness. These dogs are often used for guard dogs, police dogs, and search-and-rescue dogs. Rottweilers can be 30 to 135 pounds and live 9 to 10 years.

Papillon

Though the Papillon is a small breed, it is brilliant! They are known for their large ears and being happy and outgoing. Additionally, they are eager to please and love to learn and obey commands! The Papillon can weigh 5 to 10 pounds and live 14 to 16 years.

Corgi

Corgis are known for their short legs, round butt, and happy attitude. The breed is affectionate, alert, obedient, and athletic. They have a fearless attitude that makes them an excellent watchdog. Plus, they are the happiest when they have a job to do. Corgis can weigh up to 30 pounds and live 12-13 years.

English Springer Spaniel

Springer Spaniels are friendly, obedient, playful, and eager to please. However, they tend to bond strongly with people and love to join in on all your activities. Plus, they can develop separation anxiety. English Springer Spaniels can weigh 40 to 50 pounds and live 12 to 14 years.
