Client’s Name: Pamela
Dog’s Name: “Bailey”
City: Austin, TX 78758
Breed: Purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Likes: Be entertained, go for car rides, go walking/visit his friends at Neiman’s or Saks, eat, snuggle in my lap, sleep on the bed, and occasional playing.
Pet-Peeves: He’s not big on playing – never liked balls. Has short attention span.
Favorite Toy: His antler, and chew toys which he promptly destroys. Throws them up in the air, runs around with them for a while then settles down for some serious chewing.
Favorite Treat: The homemade dog biscuits I make – he especially likes the ones with freshly grated nutmeg.
Favorite Walk: Quiet strolls. Likes to investigate new places. Good at window shopping. Loves going into shops and getting lots of attention.
Best Trick: Shakes hands, does double shake (both front paws). While in down position will ‘flip out’ his hind legs on command. Refuses to roll over (although he gladly sleeps on his back)
Arrival Story: My previous Corgi had a very aggressive and fast spreading cancer. After his death my late husband missed him terribly. He had been in contact with the breeder during this time and talked to her about another dog. At the time I was opposed to the idea, for various reasons. Finally, he made an appointment with the breeder to see a dog she was holding for us. I went along to prevent him from coming home with a dog. Then the breeder brought out Bailey. He had such a different personality from our previous Corgi – he was, at that time, just goofy and made me smile! He came home with us. When we agreed to take him – the breeder picked him up and told him “you just won the lottery, you’re getting the best home!”
Why Training / Sit Means Sit:“a) originally it was to get his CGC – so he could become a therapy dog.
b) as I worked on his obedience – I realized he had some additional ‘issues’
c) he’s a smart dog, likes learning, and has the capacity to excel – with the right training
Troy won me over ;-)”
Motto: “very urbane” – a phrase given to him by people I used to see at the cafe we frequented.
When we lived in a high rise downtown he was described by the residents as ‘the best behaved dog’ and was known as “the mayor”. “The mayor ” because he had to meet & greet everyone, know all the residents, and make sure everything was in order. I would describe him as a mommy’s boy and a snuggle bunny.”
