Likes: “Boomer absolutely loves his frisbee, rides in the car and any kind of playing he can do. Boomer loves people and really likes to be rubbed.”
Pet-Peeves: “Boomer gets pretty nervous around loud noises and isn’t really a fan of being pulled by his collar.”
Favorite Toy: Boomer loves his frisbee, tennis ball and his Kong. Boomer loves to play fetch, he will do so until he can no longer stand if you let him.
Favorite Treat: Boomer isnt really treat motivated but does love chicken as he has shown us when we were not paying attention in the kitchen.
Favorite Walk: Boomer loves to go for rides and loves any place with people. Boomer is very friendly and loves kids.
Best Trick: Right now the only thing Boomer is good at doing is sitting and shaking hands. We are going to work on expanding his abilities.
Arrival Story: “I met Boomer at Dogtoberfest at the Domain. This wasnt too long after my wife and I had to have one of our dogs “put to sleep” due to a medical issue that rendered the dog both completely blind and deaf. Boomer and I bonded immediately. I learned that he was a prospect for a narcotics dog training program that he did not make it in to based on his spastic personality. That made me want him more. With some convincing from me and my two girls we were able to take Boomer home with us to be part of our family.”
Why Training / Sit Means Sit: “Boomer is a very intelligent dog. He is difficult to control on walks and hard to get him to go outside to go potty. Boomer at times can be very skittish with loud noises and when he gets nervous. I attempted to use other training programs at a local pet store. The methods that worked for one of my other dogs did not work with Boomer. I want to be able to take Boomer places because he loves people and I would like to have his company more than just at home. ”
