Home Tailgating Treats for Dogs

Tailgates are some of the best times of the year. Awesome weather, friends and family, and great food. What makes them even better is when our four-legged companions get to join the fun. Instead of worrying about bringing your own dog food, we have the perfect TAILgate treat you can make for the big day.

Total time:
Serves: 18 cookies
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup water
  • **optional tbsp of honey drizzle**
  • **optional 1/2 cup of melted carob chips**
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine wheat flour, rolled oats, and baking powder in a large mixing bowl. Add the peanut butter and water. Mix the ingredients together until dough forms. Roll the dough into 1/4 inch thickness on a heavily floured surface. Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until cookies are slightly golden. Sometimes I glaze with a few drops of honey.
  2. To pipe the footballs, heat the carob chips in the microwave in a sealed piping bag. 20 seconds then kneed, continue in 10 second intervals until the chocolate will flow easily from the bag. Snip a tiny opening in the piping bag and outline the cookies.
