Behavior & Obedience Dog Training Program
Sit Means Sit Nashville trains dogs in Franklin, TN: obedience, puppy training, day train, board and train, and private lessons.
Any dog, any age, any problem, including reactive and aggressive dogs. Start with a free evaluation. We’ll meet your dog, watch how they work, and map out a plan. Call 615-505-7297 or use the form on this page.
Franklin dogs are our regulars. We train for the places you actually take them: loose-leash walking for the Saturday crowd on Main Street, calm greetings at Pinkerton Park, and reliable recall before your dog earns off-leash time at the K-9 Korral at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm. Our Franklin families come from Westhaven, Ladd Park, McKay’s Mill, Sullivan Farms, and Fieldstone Farms. If your dog walks those sidewalks, this is their classroom.
A dog who only behaves in your kitchen isn’t trained yet. Real life has squirrels, skateboards, and other dogs. We train through distractions on purpose, so the obedience holds where you need it.

How we train
Our training begins by building trust through gaining attention and establishing a clear line of communication to deliver faster, smarter, and better results in our customized training. Once that connection is established, we can communicate more clearly, work together more effectively, and tailor the training to your dog’s unique needs. Our goal is to give you the tools and confidence to bring out the very best version of your dog — at home and everywhere life takes you. You don’t have to take our word for any of this. The evaluation is free, your dog does the demonstrating, and you decide after you’ve seen it.
Reactive and aggressive dogs welcome
Lunging on leash. Snapping at guests. The dog you love at home and can’t take anywhere. Plenty of programs quietly turn these dogs away; this is some of the most important work we do. Bring the dog you think nobody can handle to the evaluation and let’s find out together.
A Franklin dog we trained
Milo, a golden retriever puppy from Franklin, came to us with his owner Olivia. Her review after four sessions says it better than we could:
“Kyle did wonders with my Golden Retriever puppy Milo. Milo is doing things I never thought he could after just 4 sessions. If you want to see results Sit Means Sit is the way to go.”

How much does dog training cost in Franklin, TN?
It depends on the dog and the program. A puppy who needs manners is a different job than a two-year-old rescue who lunges at other dogs. That’s why the evaluation is free: you leave with an exact price for your dog, not a range off a menu.
What is the 3-3-3 rule for dogs?
It’s a settling-in guideline for rescues: three days to decompress, three weeks to learn your routine, three months to feel at home. It’s a useful rhythm, and the right training during that window helps a new dog land well. If you’ve just adopted, come see us early.
Is board and train worth it?
For many dogs, yes. Immersion training moves fast because your dog practices all day, every day. What makes it stick is the handoff: up to two private follow-up lessons and unlimited group classes, where you learn what your dog learned. A trained dog with an untrained owner doesn’t stay trained. We build the program so both of you graduate.
Day Train Program
Drop-off training. Your dog works one-on-one with our trainers, and at pickup you get a walkthrough of what they learned, plus homework. Programs run two to four weeks, one training day each week. Drop-off is flexible for Franklin families: many clients meet us at Tower Park in Brentwood, an easy drive from Franklin, and we’ll customize pickup and drop-off to fit your route.
Board and Train Program
Your dog stays with us and trains every day, then comes home to an owner who knows the same commands. Up to two private follow-up lessons and unlimited group classes in Brentwood come with it.
That handoff is the point: the dog learns fast in immersion, and you keep it going at home. Training happens where real life happens — a normal house, neighborhood parks, and the aisles of Lowe’s, PetSmart, and Home Depot.
Bo, a Franklin puppy, came to board and train to work on potty training. Six weeks later, his family’s Google review:
“A HUGE shout out to Kyle who took our puppy Bo and returned him as the BEST family dog we could ask for. We were at our wits ends with behavior and potty training issues… it literally changed our lives for the better.”

Dog Owners Reviews
We love customers and their dogs. They love us.
Kyle is amazing. I didn’t grow up with dogs and needed to know how to teach my dog. Tucker is a much gentler and obedient dog thanks to Kyle’s training! Couldn’t recommend him more!
This training has made a solid citizen out of our 2-1/2 yo rescue golden retriever. He had been given up for adoption twice before we got him. The instructors were eminently patient and helpful for every issue we presented. We are so grateful for this awesome training.
Thanks to Sit Means Sit, my German Shepherd is a completely different girl. No longer anxious and aggressive, she’s happy and motivated and is loving life!
Lilli still believes SMS training is using technology to the fullest and keeping dogs safe by being able to communicate to them off leash. Love your training and have using it for 10+ years. If you are considering ecollar training, definitely get the facts and train with the pros who use it properly and love…
