Pumpkin Dog Treat Recipe

With fall in full swing, you’re probably able to find just about everything in pumpkin flavor. So, why not make your pooch some pumpkin dog treats in celebration of the fall season!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Rolling pin
  • Dog bone cookie cutter
  • 1/2 cup of apple sauce (no sugar added)
  • 1 cup of pumpkin puree (no sugar added and of pumpkins, NOT pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1 egg
  • 3 & 1/2 cups of flour (can substitute for wheat, oat, or rice flour of equal parts. If using rice flour, you may need to add moisture with a tablespoon of water once it soaks up the egg)

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Mix your egg, applesauce, and pumpkin puree in a mixing bowl
  • Fold in the flour until it’s all mixed
  • Lightly dust your countertop or surface with flour and knead the dough to make it uniform
  • Lightly flour the rolling pin and proceed to roll the dough out into approximately 1/8 of an inch thick
  • Use a cookie cutter to cut treats out of dough and place on a baking sheet
  • Bake for approximately 18 minutes
  • Wait to cool before serving

And just like that, you’ve made Fido some delicious pumpkin treats that they’ll be begging for more of. You can keep the treats stored at room temperature for a few days, but when refrigerated, they can last for weeks.
