Must let you know that I have had many dogs in my time, actually since I’ve been 5 years old and have never met a trainer as kind and dedicated to training as Robert Burnell from Sit Means Sit.   My Molly has become very well behaved under his tutelage.  I need a little more training than her, but she obeys almost all commands at almost all the time.  She actually howls and cries when he leaves.
He has incredible compassion for the animals.
Thank you

Bob is an exceptional trainer. He kept our 18 month old GSP Korra for two weeks while we were on vacation and taught her things we never knew she was capable of. He is patient, caring, consistent, and understands that every dog is different with different triggers, needs and drives. He knew my hunting dog had an exceptional inherent prey drive and was able to work with her regardless. She loved spending time with him! Thanks for taking such good care of Korra!!

Korra, our GSP, had a blast with Bob during her Board and Train

It was great working with Bob Burnell.  He was very informative and taught us a lot about handling our very energetic Bull Terrier mix!  Bob was very accommodating with meeting us at our house as well the park to  work with Gurley.  Before, walking Gurley was something I would be scared of because she doesn’t do well with small dogs.  After working with Bob and learning how to use the e-collar, her whole demeanor changed.  I no longer worry when walking her with the collar because she doesn’t pull me and I now have control of my dog.  His techniques worked wonders.

We had a new baby on the way when we started training  He worked with Gurley with the stroller and even checked in on us after the baby arrived.  I would recommend Bob to anyone who has issues with overly energetic dogs.

Thank You Nicole C.

My husband and I adopted a puppy, Bran, to keep our older dog occupied. Bran was definitely a high energy puppy, and as sweet as he could be, he just couldn’t calm down long enough to listen to us. Although we tried training him ourselves, he still jumped on our guests when they came over, he still ran through the house with energy we couldn’t control, and he still refused to learn how to walk nicely on a leash. That is when we contacted Bob from Sit Means Sit to help us with our training needs. We decided to board and train Bran and took a leap of faith letting our cute pup spend a week with Bob. When the week was over, Bran came back a completely different dog! He still has his high energy personality, but now we have control over it! He now walks nicely by our side when we take him out on a leash, he sits and stays on command and backs off from guests when they come over. He no longer rushes to the door to jump on whomever walks through, and instead is learning how to sit in one place and wait for a command to greet our guests. I am really pleased with the results we have seen through our training efforts. The best part, and most fun, is after Bran came home and it was our turn to be trained! Bob was very nice and super helpful in showing us how to keep up with his training commands. He addressed every concern we had, showed us ways to minimize training problems, made himself available any time we need him. It felt like working with a good friend rather than a stranger. We definitely will use Bob again if we ever have training needs and recommend him to anyone considering doing the same.

Hi Bob,

Emily and I have been back in Michigan for over a month now. We are so happy with the results of Rider’s training while we were in Florida. She no longer jumps on people in her excitement to see them. She is a pleasure to walk with now, without all that pulling.

Emily, Rider and I are very pleased with the professional and practical methods you used. The videos on your website are accurate!

Thanks again,
Rex Phelps

Dear Bob,

My husband and I want to thank you for your kindness and patience with our wild man Willie. He is the most lovable 3 year old lab but was a complete handful for us until we found you.
We are now able to actually answer our front door without him knocking guests over with his enthusiasm and I can even take him for walks without being dragged to the ground.
You explained that training us was the key to making it all work and we went into this knowing that Willie’s training with you was only the beginning. Your continued attention as I
Complete “my training” has been wonderful and Willie and I are on a mission to show you we can do this.

Thank you so much Bob! Please feel free to give our number to anyone who would like to ask about our experience.

Sincerely,

Linda and Tom Rex and Willie

Dear Trainer Bob,
My person, Kitty, wants to put a nice comment on your website, but she can’t figure out how to do it.
She’s a good dog mom, but not very techie.  I’ve tried to help,  but she says “Get down!”
We are both doing well. My improved behavior and her lessened stress have made absolutely
everything better . . . and we’d like to recommend you in every way we can.  So . . . when you have
a chance, do let us know how we can do that.

We have a dog who would essentially refuse to walk. He would “put on the breaks” and resist walking. This went on for years. We always thought he was just stubborn. We then came across Bob. He assessed the issue, made some changes in his walking technique/equipment, and within A DAY our dog was going on long walks again! It was amazing and all done very professionally and courteously. Highly recommended! Thanks again Bob!

Bob of Sit Means Sit is great. My wife and I have a rescue who we have tried to leash train and help overcome high anxiety levels outside of our home. After several trainers with varying approaches to the situation we thankfully found Bob. Now our girl is great on a leash, more obienet in general, and seems to just be a happier dog overall. Bob’s professionalism is unmatched, and I could tell right away that he treated our dog like a member of his family during her time with him. When Bob comes to our house for follow up sessions she greats him the same way she greats my wife and I when we come home from work. I’ve already recommended Bob to friends and family, and I will work with him agin to train our new puppy.

I had an 9 week old puppy with a serious nipping problem – she was tearing at our clothes, nipping our hands, etc. Based on his good reviews, I called Bob at Sit Means Sit for in-home training. He gave great suggestions which solved our problem, plus helped with potty training and other issues. It was wonderful to have such an expert answer all my questions, assess our home environment and get us through those challenging new puppy moments.

I am very sorry this is our last training session. Although your visits meant work, I enjoyed them–and I think Stormy did too.

All my friends are delighted that Stormy no longer jumps on them. And, they have also said that there is a world of difference in her behavior. I am happy that she comes when called!

I will remember your lessons because you told me the reason behind each command, and gave examples of how she might react-and how I should act. This is very important- months from now I will remember those examples more than anything else.

Many, many thanks

Recently, I adopted a puppy from Animal Services, in Miami, and was looking forward to our new life together. Riley brought all the joys I expected…plus a few minor issues…I wasn’t. At three months I enrolled him in Puppy Training, learning some basic training, playing alot, and getting bigger and stronger. We graduated, but we still had some bigger and stronger issues, like nipping/biting, wild running, barking and chewing…plus pulling hard on the leash. He was in control! I knew we needed more training and Fast!

Looking in the internet for Dog Trainers, I came across Sit Means Sit and found a location on Palm Beach, Florida with Dog Trainer, Robert Burnell. I liked what I read, so I called to learn more about remote dog training collar. Bob drove to Miami with his dog for a demonstration…I couldn’t believe what I saw and signed up on the spot!

It has been terrific working with Bob in understanding how to change Riley’s behavior. He is truly a different dog now and a real pleasure to own and enjoy. Bob traveled many miles bewteen Palm Beach and Miami to help me and Riley, and I hope soon to travel to his new group classes.

I have referred a friend to Bob…and can say…you’ll be happy you called him. I really now have “The Life With Riley”! Thanks Bob…

Dear Bob,
Thank you from the bottom of our heart for your patience, expertise, and all
the time you spent training Espina and Serafina.

I thank God the day I went to the pet show and saw Bob (of Sit Means Sit) showing his dog. I
was so impressed that day that I got his card and called him. We set up an
appointment and Bob showed us a demonstration. He was extremely
knowledgeable and courteous. This was a no brainer; we knew right away that
we wanted Bob to train our dogs. Bob is a very patient and wonderful man. He
was always on time, never missed an appointment and came for quite awhile
for us. The dogs love him, trust him and look up to him.
He never raised his voice, always gave them praise when they deserved it. It
was truly a wonderful experience for all of us. Serafina never wanted him to
leave and would block the door.

Espina is a 3 year old Dogo, Argentina Mastiff who is 110 lbs. and Serafina
is an 11 month old Cane Corso who is 155 lbs. They both are large dogs.
Espina is set in her ways and was petrified of getting in the car and issues
with walking. Serafina had many issues: Pulling when I would walk her,
jumping, not paying attention, and not listening. With the very first
training, Espina walked great on the leash, no pulling- she sat when I
stopped. It was truly a wonderful experience. Serafina pulled excessively,
she is a very large dog and I couldn’t control her. After 2 visits, she
walks like a show dog. I was truly amazed and very grateful. I look
forward to my walks now with the dogs, as before the training, I was always
very apprehensive. When Bob started working Espina to get in the car, he
was very patient with her, I could see every day progress was being made and
then one day, Bob said this is it, let us see if she will get in and she
did. We were so excited. I truly did not think this was going to happen,
without Bob’s help it never would have. I am extremely grateful to him and
highly recommend him to train any dog. I am more than happy to talk to
anyone about his expertise. Bob has my phone number.
Thank you Bob from the bottom of our hearts for all the time you spent with
us.

I can’t begin to express my gratitude to Bob and Eileen Burnell at “Sit Means Sit” for “giving us our dog back!” Crush, our 4 year old German Shepherd, has always been a sweet, relatively obedient dog with all of our family, but strangers and new experiences, like going to the kennel or vet, brought out the worst in him. Crush was insecure and timid when we adopted him at 6 months, but along the way, combining the lack of confidence with his inclination to protect us got him into trouble.
Bob and Eileen certainly trained Crush—giving him confidence and guidance, but more importantly they trained us—particularly me—to become the leader. Their complete and thorough explanations of the philosophy of their training method, directions to me about how and why to conduct practices with Crush, and incredible patience when we didn’t always get it right the first time translated into tremendous progress for all of us. Even the folks at the kennel commented on the difference in Crush already.
Bob and Eileen’s very obvious love for the dogs and their clear concise training plan that gets results every step of the way is a winning combination.
I could go on and on, but I will simply say that I recommend “Sit Means Sit” wholeheartedly.

Sincerely,
Cheryl T

Bob,

Deliah did great today! When my friend came over, she did really well. No
pulling…she really listened and my friend was able to approach her without any
problem. I was thrilled! Also, I did exactly what you said when she was about to go
into her witching hour…I clicked on her leash and we went out and walked and did
some training. We came back into the house and worked a bit more. She then went right
to her place afterwards and let me continue with my work! I am going to Simmons
tomorrow to take a tour and give them Deliah’s vaccinations papers. I’ll touch base
with you tomorrow once I have confirmed her boarding there. …Thank you again.
I feel so confident with you as our trainer!

Hello Bob!
Remember me I am Dragon’s mommy 🙂 Just got your newsletter and wanted to drop a
quick line to say hi! Dragon is amazing (largely because of you). I have been
meaning to send you a video of him. We have moved so he has a bigger space and a
yard 🙂 We adopted our foster baby and her sister so we are now a family of 4 girls

As for our star- everyday he astonishes me with what he picks up- even with out the
collar he is incredibly responsive to me. He has mastered some more tricks and
commands some of which he will do by hand signal or voice which I thought was
cool. We had a boy over the house who is scared of dogs and my 5 year old(he is her
friend) took Dragon to him and showed him all his “tricks” on her own and told him
to do it- and he did everything. His mom told me all he talks about is the cool
pink dog that does tricks for him. The pink part was that they play with side walk
chalk and for some reason he loves to roll in it so that day he was the color pink
🙂 My 5 and 6 year old have great control with him- my 2 year would but I dont
think he understands a word she is saying to him 🙂

Hands down Dragon is the BEST dog ever!!! And we thank you for that!!
I hope all is well and that your business is well! Feel free to keep in touch!

Bob, I would like to thank you for training my family in helping them
understand me better. By teaching them the proper way to talk to me and
redirect my loving enthusiasm in fun and happy way, it has made our lives so
much more enjoyable. Because I am still a puppy, I get scared, nervous, and
sometimes, I do not know what I want, but the skills, techniques and bond
forged by your training helps us get through it without the yelling and
frustration. My daily walks with Mommy are a pleasure for both of us and
learning my “Place” when friends visit makes them happy to see me. Again,
thank you for your gentle patience and calm demeanor.

“Bob with Sit means Sit, has been super great to work with.  He has a wealth of experience with dogs AND people as well.  He trained all of us, mommy, daddy and Buddy.  He listened to us and worked on what was needed, not just preplanned obedience like most other trainers do.  His quiet soft-spoken demeanor was just right for buddy, who is afraid of loud voices, loud noises and men.  We learned how to alleviate almost all the behaviors we didn’t want, while encouraging behaviors with a calm soft voice and positive rewards.  He taught us how to set Buddy up for success rather than failure.  He is happy to share his knowledge and experience to help you with any challenges you may have with your dog.  He answers your calls and texts efficiently.  He respects your time.  Wonderful training! Wonderful  guy!-  Linda, Paul & Buddy

Testimonial- From An Amazed Family
Our dogs have never been well behaved. They are sweet but have never listened to anything myself or my husband say, and we have never known exactly how to teach them otherwise. They basically run the house. We were in a situation where we had to move them from a house with more dogs and a large yard to a smaller apartment. Now their barking was a problem to neighbors, their lack of ability to go for a walk was making taking them outside next to impossible. Once one of my dogs charged out of the door at a neighbor’s child, my husband and I decided to invest in training. We met with Bob from Sit Means Sit. He told us that our dogs are trainable and explained his methods, which include electric collars. We were hesitant at first, but once he let me feel what the dogs would be feeling, it is just a minor tingle, and it is not used as punishment but only to get their attention. Now I swear by the collars, they work! The dogs do not mind them at all and one dog in particular, Stewie, actually begs for it! He is so excited to get it on in the morning! In only 2 and a half sessions my dogs now “come” and “sit” on command. They are doing great on walks and are learning the concept of “place”. If training continues this well, we’re so excited to see what our dogs are capable of! Bob is so easy to work with, he’s great with the dogs and makes things easy for us to understand. We would recommend him to anyone looking for dog training! He really is wonderful!

Ellie, Shy dog
When we adopted Ellie she was afraid of everything and everyone. We tried getting her out of her shell but progress was very slow. We had done research and came across Bob Burnell, owner of Sit Means Sit. During the initial, free consultation Bob had won us over with his knowledge and understanding of the 4 legged breed. (He speaks dog). We decided to hire him and let him take Ellie for 10 days. The dog that was returned was much more confident in herself and her surroundings. We still have a ways to go with Ellie but am very optimistic and happy with her progress. We would recommend Bob to anyone who is looking for a little help with their pet issues. The picture is Ellie sitting with her mom and 2 total strangers she had just met the day before, something she would have never done before Bob’s help. ~Mark and Mona C -Lake Worth

Cody, Golden Retriever

We have always rescued Golden Retrievers for our family. My now 5 1/2 yr. old, Subie, was trained by Sit Means Sit in 2013 in Portland, Maine. Last year, we lost our 12 year old beloved GR, Colby. Subie was so sad. Eight days later, our beautiful boy, Cody was surely sent from Heaven and came thru our door . He was this precious, beautful 16 month old puppy who was a wild child! He needed training!
So I began my search here in Palm Beach County, Florida, when it dawned on me…..Sit Means Sit…. and I found it! I called and spoke with the owner, Robert. Since I knew the SMS training techniques, I wanted to get started!
“Uncle Bob” and Cody made fast friends and he worked with him diligently. And always sends me videos of their working together! Then, when it was my turn to train, I was sometimes quite belligerent, but Bob was always so patient with me! I was not as willing as Cody to work so hard. Hmm, maybe I needed a treat to motivate me!
I am always amazed at Cody’s behavior after a session with Bob. He knows his stuff and he loves what he does!! I would highly recommend Palm Beach County Sit Means Sit and Bob Burnell for any type of dog training.
