HeadStart/Immersion Training (Board & Train)
Many clients decide this approach to training their dogs is the most beneficial to them as the trainer does all of the initial work. The Head Start program begins at our training location at Furs and Feathers Resort of West Palm Beach. Here they will receive around the clock attention and care by their attentive and loving staff. Your dog will also receive the training and attention that is required throughout the day to provide that “HeadStart” into their new life as a Sit Means Sit Family Dog. Upon completion of their stay, training will then continue at your home so that you will become knowledgeable and comfortable with the Sit Means Sit system of training. What good is training, if the dog knows what to do and the parents don’t?. We provide you with the lessons needed to make your pet the family member that you wanted. Your experience does not end with our in-home sessions. You and your dog will next receive a series of group classes to further hone your skills and improve your communication with your pet.

Private In-Home Training
Most of our clients prefer to have our sessions take place in the comfort of their home. The trainer will clearly demonstrate for the dog and the parents how to perform the various skills that will get you to your goal. The client will then need to follow up those lessons with daily practicing in order to achieve the desired results.
Our Private In Home Lessons are specifically geared for the family who wants to be personally and directly involved in the success of their dog’s training. Let’s be serious here- Where would you rather your dog learn to understand and repeat their desired behaviors? At another location or your own home? We will work with all members of your family. What good is it if the parents are out of the house and the children can not control there own dog.
Private Lessons are customized for your individual needs and are done IN YOUR HOME. We walk you through a step by step program that will last a lifetime for your dog. For all private lessons, we are available 6 days per week so we can accommodate your schedule!

Puppy Training
So, you got yourself a new puppy, congratulations. The word that I sometimes here next is HELP, my puppy is a terror. You may have issues such as housebreaking, jumping, chewing, nipping, or basic obedience. We can help you with these issues and others. Our puppy program, designed for puppies between 8 weeks and approximately 6 months in age, guides you and the puppy through these formative weeks of early development.
We bring the joy back into the house by providing a foundation of training. Through training comes understanding and respect. This concept does go both ways. It is important for the Pet Parent to understand and respect the dog as well as the puppy understanding us and respecting us.
A few examples of what we will cover with you- Housebreaking, Basic Commands (come, sit, down), Crate Training, Biting/Nipping. Chewing Issues etc. We will also have a lot of discussions on how to keep that puppy safe. We will ease you through the puppyhood problems and start the two of you on your life-long journey together.
In this training, we utilize positive reinforcement in the form of praise, toy and treats (if the puppy is treat motivated). A leash and flat collar is also used. The leash is used to guide and re-direct a behavior, not to correct.
Here we do as much teaching of the person as we do the puppy. We will show you how to teach important skills through TELL SHOW DO. We tell (explain) you what to do, then show you how to do the skill. We will then guide you as you do it. Its great that your puppy works for us, we will show you how to get your puppy to listen to YOU.
