If you’ve graduated from one of our other programs (Board and Train dog services, puppy training, etc.), group dog training classes are the next step in your process.

It’s common for dog training companies to take you through a program or private sessions and then leave you to figure out the future. We know how hard it is to train a dog, and we know the dedication it requires to maintain a certain level of excellence.

With this in mind, we created another training approach that is a place where your adult dog and new puppy can come together. You, the proud owner of a well-behaved dog, can improve and refresh your training tools in an environment of like-minded dog owners and furry friends. Group classes are an opportunity for owners, trainers, and dogs to come together to learn new skills, find community, and have a lot of fun.

Why This is Different Than Other Training Programs

In many training settings, trainers are so concerned about having distractions in the room that they completely miss the point of training. The reason the dog is in training at all is that the owner doesn’t like its behavior in the real world.

If training only works in a perfect environment, it doesn’t help anything. There is no choice involved. The dog obeys because there’s no reason not to. At Sit Means Sit, we are firm believers in creating a foundation of communication and obedience that isn’t shaken, no matter the surroundings.

Group classes are a safe, exciting way to practice real-world situations. With unfamiliar dogs and people moving in and out, your dog is forced to make a choice between obedience and something else. In this outdoor space with squirrels, new humans, potential friends, and your family (if you want), your dog learns how to maintain obedience anywhere. This means that when you visit an off-leash dog park, you can be 100% confident that your pup will come when you call.

This environment of safety is one where socialization and knowledge come naturally. Our trainers are there to help you with your pet, but we also want you to take the lead. By being your dog’s main person, you reap the benefits of a life filled with complete trust and clear communication. Many owners report a significant difference by the second class (sometimes the first!)!

Practicing tricks, for example, is a means of helping you and your dog understand one another. All the while, we’re building on the fundamentals and establishing a future of unprecedented freedom. On top of continued education, there’s also the benefit of reinforcement of past learning. If your dog has started jumping again, you can enroll them in group classes to revisit all the hard work you have both already put in. We promise our amazing trainers will approach your situation with patience and lots of treats.

New To Sit Means Sit

Group classes are only offered to Sit Means Sit clients who have completed one of our other courses. By limiting it in this way, we’re able to promise an environment where you and your dog can grow unhindered by bad behavior. When we come together as a group to learn, we benefit one another. A lot of our clients tell us that group classes are their favorite part of the training process!

We pride ourselves on being a home for all manner of dogs. It doesn’t matter if you have a rescue, a stray you found on a river walk, or a purebred such as a Belgian Malinois; we’re here for you. Our training is open to dogs of all ages, breeds, temperaments, sizes, and behavioral histories.

On another note, we’re associated with the American Kennel Club, as well, which means we can help your dog get the Canine Good Citizen award, if that’s something your research has led you to.

If you have an interest in changing the course of your dog’s life for the better, contact us today for a free consultation and training demonstration with a dedicated member of our staff.
