Daily Routine for Puppies

If you have recently made an addition to your family, it is important to create structure. This structure and routine will help your new pal and your family feel secure.

Feeding

Puppies need to eat three times a day. To make things easier, plan your four-legged friend’s meal times around your own. Once your pal matures, one or two meals a day is sufficient. Additionally, be sure to clean out your companion’s water and food bowl regularly!

Potty Breaks

This is especially important while you are house training your new friend. Take your pal outside for a potty at least every two hours and a maximum of four. You should also take potty breaks after meal times and after playtime. Sticking to a schedule will minimize accidents in the house.

Playtime

Interaction and exercise are important for your pal’s development. Mental stimulation and non-strenuous play is recommended. Puppy playtime varies depending on breed, energy levels, growth rates, and other factors. Multiple shorter play sessions throughout the day are better than one long session.

Naps and Bedtime

Surprisingly, puppies need 16-18 hours of sleep each day. Your pal will need several naps a day and shouldn’t be disturbed to ensure your pal is getting the rest they need. This is also where crate training comes in handy! Additionally, setting a puppy bedtime will help set a routine.

Establishing a routine from the beginning will lead to a happy, well-adjusted pup. There is no correct routine or time frame to follow. If you stick to the same one daily, it will create enormous benefits for your family!
